    Should be a special award for doing this on a stock G/Wing seat. What a torture device.

    Nice work. I did a saddlesore 1000 and bunburner 1500 about 15 years ago on a 2005 Goldwing. Just takes the correct mindset and a bit of planning

      Rock on! A Bun Burner might have to be added to our list... Correct mindset is absolutely true, planning yes, and a little dash of crazy!

    Epic ride! Ironbutts are hard no matter the type of bike you do it on. This has always been the case with my saddle sore rides (road glide, k1600, and versys 1000) and after mile 600 it gets real hard! But in the end it's worth it for the experience you get while pushing yourself. It's such a unique test of your own will and character. Documenting it would be even harder. Props to these young riders who were able to make it happen! hope to see them do more inthe future.

    Nice ride! Riding those distances with night riding thrown in is interesting. My best was 998.6 on a 1050 Triumph Tiger. I choose not to ride around a little to get the 1000 miles. I cheated enough taking freeways.

    I didn't hear you mention using heated handlebars and seat, or heated jacket liner. These help me tremendously.

    • @roadrunnermag
      @roadrunnermag  Месяц назад

      Definitely used the heated seat and grips! It was still frigidly cold. Caleb and Marisa don't own heated gear yet.... YET.

    Hat off for completing the ride, and for completing it on stock saddles. I know from experience that it isn’t an easy thing to do!

    On Delphi there is a forum for Touring riders. The Motorcycling tourers forum. They do Lunches in places all over the States. Real long distance group if you like that community. I’ve grown too old to be there but they still gather in place all over.
    The BMW club in Shreveport has offered a yearly 1000 mile instate tour that you could file for the 1000-mile Irin Butt cert. great people, fun ride around Louisiana. I managed one on a K75RT and two on a 2003 St1300.
    I’ve always thought the Goldwing deserves a gas tank that will take you as far as an ST1300: 335 miles.

    What do you think is the hardest part of an iron butt ride??

    • @roadrunnermag
      @roadrunnermag  24 дня назад

      Great question! It's a little different for each attempt, depending on the bike you ride and route you take. For this one the hardest part was riding all night through the bitter cold.

    I've never done it and don't think I ever could! My longest day is about 425 miles and I was dog tired. 1000+ in a single stretch is just plain crazy! I'll stick to watching these youngsters do it.

    I worry about animals?

    • @roadrunnermag
      @roadrunnermag  3 месяца назад

      We were worried about that too. Better lights for the night section would have been nice. We rode with our high beams on as much as we could. Luckily we didn't have any close calls.

      @@roadrunnermag yes, I've ridden a few times at night just to make it home. Glad you made it safe and sound.
