The Art of Finding Cherry Blossoms Before Full Bloom: Kyoto, Nara and Osaka

March and April is the time of year when cherry blossoms generally bloom and turn Japan into a dreamy wonderland. Our journey started in the city of Osaka, the cherry blossom capital,.
Our goal was to snap the perfect pic under the famous Osaka Castle, stroll along the Okawa River, with nearly 5000 cherry trees. However, once we are there we realized that we started our journey too early. Even though the cherry blossom status is “flowering” or “just open” what we found is that only 5% of the flowers have bloom.
We were very disappointed, but we found a way to find cherry blossom spot that is al least nearing full bloom. The secret trick is through the use Google maps. First search for any cherry blossoms sites using the google map, scroll down and then click on photos & videos, Finally click on the "latest" category and you will see the latest blooming status of the cherry trees.
Armed with these information, we managed to find the blossoming cherry blossom spots in Kyoto (Maruyama Park, Kyoto Gyoen National Park and Kamo River), and Nara City (Saho River and Nara Park)
