I love scheepjes whirl but because it’s so expensive I now get the Yarn Art version.
I’ll have to look it up! 🌸🧶
I’ve never used it but I’d love to get some. It’s a beautiful fade. With the price and shipping it’s a little pricey. I think the shawls are beautiful. I think a cardigan or pocket shawl would be pretty too. I love a true ombré yarn is my favorite. Can’t wait to see what you make it❤️
Hi it’s lovely yarn too pricy too just a quick one can you please do the tutorial on the green shawl I think it’s Victoria shawl ?
Thnx
Too darn expensive with so many other beautiful options out there.
Love this yarn, and hope that Scheepjes keeps producing them forever.
Me too 🧶
I have used Whirls but then I discovered Crochet Uk Yarns. Now if I want to use this type of yarn, I buy from them instead. They make up their own cakes. They have far more colourways available, and if you can't find one that fits you, then you can design your own, which is good fun. All colourways are available in 3 - 8ply and a variety of lengths (my last order was 2000m but I have also ordered 500m). The colour changes are smooth and happen slowly over a long length so it's very subtle, without that speckled effect that the Whirl has, which I find a bit unattractive but know that other people might like. Also, the company is in this country so easily contactable. AND they are quite a lot cheaper than Scheepjes.
I love Scheepjes and love the Whirl and Whirlette. (I still have a Whirl and 2 Whirlettes in my stash waiting for the right project.) However, they are not that accessible in the USA and are somewhat price prohibitive. The Whirl is currently around $30.00USD. Compared with competitors priced at $15.00-$20.00USD, I believe more people opt for the less expensive.
That makes sense! I didn’t realise they were still tricky to come by in the US. That’s a shame! 🧶🌸
I have collection of whirls that I’ve had since before I retired, now that I’ve retired, I’m looking forward to several projects in whirl. I’m glad I bought them in anticipation of having the time to devote to a few projects, I’m there and loving it!
Been enjoying your lovely videos for a long while now.
Wonderful! I hope you enjoy using the Whirls and happy retirement!
I have an addiction to whirl .... i just love it. It's very pricey, but the products it makes are ❤
I absolutely agree, one of my favourite yarns for sure! ♥️
I've never used the Scheepjes Whirl because of the price. Hobbii's Twister and Sultan have been cheaper on sale (though prices are rising there as well...), and then there's the Yarn Art cakes which look really similar as well at a fraction of the price.
They are beautiful and as you said they are expensive, depending on peoples finances and preferences in yarn buying. I personally buy all sorts of yarns at all different prices depending on what I want to crochet. Your projects with this yarn are beautiful but I haven’t seen anyone use them for a long long time.
Thank you so much Sandra! You’re absolutely right… they were EVERYWHERE and then I’ve not seen them on Instagram much for ages! 🌸🧶
I've just watched your video from 2 years ago - Top 5 Scheepjes Whirl Projects! Beginner to advanced! - and now watched this too. First off everything you showed is lovely and 2nd I'd like to thank you for showing how the scheepjes whirls colours look when made up. Wondering what the cakes look like once turned into something has been what stopped me buying them so far but you helped me decide that they are something I would like to try now. Thankyou😀
I can recommend Ravelry for this too. Also to check out different whirl combo's. Because I love making projects with different colorways together 😊
I’m just running out of things I wanna crochet with these types of cakes. But I still enjoy making shawls.
I have worked up quite a collection of yarn art flowers, and Hobbii twister/sultan cakes though recently lol. I am so attracted to the beautiful colors!! And lately I love the ones with a little bit of sparkle!
Sounds great! I love a bit of sparkle! I bet you've made some beautiful things with those yarns 🌸
I have made 3 shawls with Schweppes Whirl Yarn Art. Each took 2 to 3 cakes. Expensive but well worth the cost forvthe result. Love working with it. Still have some yarn left over from two of the shawls. Saving it for somerhing special.
Our local yarn shop has some Scheepjes Whirl Just discovered!!! I have not been there yet to look The Scheepjes Chunky Monkey is very popular 😀💙🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 I did not know about Scheepjes Rebekah I discovered it because of you Beautiful colours Very good quality Reasonable considering what you get GREAT YARN !!🌞❤
That’s so great to hear! Thank you Debra! I really do enjoy Scheepjes. 🌸🧶🥰
Whirls have a special place in my heart. They’re definitely not a fast project use by any means, I still love them though
Me too! As you say, they're slow to work but soooo beautiful 🌸
I can tell you why I rarely use them anymore: Because I have used every single colourway, some of them twice or more. I wish scheepjes would launch some new colourways. I have stashed some of my favourite ones, though. You never know!
Wow! That’s very impressive! 😍
I have never bought or used Scheepjes Whirl. Although I'm hoping to splurge and buy one or two soon.
I hope that you love them! 🌸
Your granny's shawl is gorgeous!! I would love the pattern❤
Scheepjes Whirl is a beautiful yarn!! I've wanted to buy one for a long time but they're so expensive. They have gorgeous colorways though. I should treat myself for my birthday in October & buy one to make a shawl😊
I have four of them in my stash that I purchased several years ago. I have been saving them for something special. After see your lovely shawls, I think I'll be looking for shawl patterns. Thank you for sharing this.
I LOVE scheepjes whirl. My FAVORITE but they are really expensive here in the states and never really go on sale. Other cakes similar to that have great sale prices.
I love them but they are pricey. I find yarn art cakes are pretty too and more reasonably priced. 😊
Yes they are! 🌸
So beautiful. I always wondered how to work with those.. Thank you so much for sharing. God bless you for your kindness. Stay blessed . I will try one soon..
You are so welcome and thank you so much! 🥰🧶 There’s so many wonderful ideas for these yarns!
Hey Rebekah! So funny this should pop up today as I had a Scheepjes whirl delivery this morning and I’ve not ordered any for a long time! I fell out of love with the more radical colour change ones but recently realised that crocheting it with a strand of Whirlette really softens the colours and also makes a bigger blanket which is a bonus! I agree with the amazing colour selection too and the ombré ones are my favourite! Loved seeing your makes and thank you for sharing the Dainty Diamond recommendation again; I had a few sales yesterday and wondered if someone had shared it so thank you as always for your support xx
Aw you’re so welcome! I’m going to have to try your whirl and Whirlette tip, it looks lovely! 🌸🥰🧶
I love them. But, in the USA they are so pricey. I have switched to the yarn art version. Less expensive. Beautiful projects 😍😍😍
Sounds great! And thank you ☺️
I’ve used whirl a few times for baby blankets, a mandala wall hanging similar to the one you showed, and I am currently working on a shawl in the pink ombré. I have also used other brands if I can’t get the colour I want in Whirl. I love the colours! The transitions! The drape! No fuss, just start and keep going until you run out. Love ‘em 😊
I absolutely love the whirls. I also adore the blue shawl you made for me - and, as you know, I live in it during the winter ! It's so soft, warm and drapes beautifully. I have used two whirls to knit scarves. I guess quicker results from chunkier yards seem to have been popular recently but this has inspired me to request (& make myself also) another scarf/ shawl!! 💙Lovely to see Nanna's shawl - she loved it.💚
I live in Australia, the cost of the whirls were between $30-$36AUD. With covid - it got hard to source them, the shipping costs have just gone up and a lot of LYS have expressed that to order them now they have to come via cargo ship which still costs lots of $$$ but is less expensive then air freight, takes extra time and they need to place a bigger order to make it worth it. I love Scheepjes whirls and whirlettes, I’m lucky enough to have a big stash of them as I use them to make shawls for my kids business. We make sure to buy big when we see them or if there is a sale on for them which is very rare.
The little yarn Co are in WA & sell them for about $44 & I received it within 2 days
Hi Rebecca, I love the whirls too, they are especially lovely made into your granny merge blanket. I wish they would make more pastel whirls , because they make lovely baby blankets.
I love love Scheepjes whirl and their other yarn selections as well. Yarn art is my second favorite as far as whirl type yarn. I use both still very often
Love this beautiful yarn!
So glad! Me too 🥰🧶
I have a few cakes of this yarn that I bought on FB marketplace. I never thought to make baby blankets from them - thankyou.
The baby blankets I've made with them have been lovely - perfect for a little pram or basket 🌸
Gorgeous colors! I have never used. Could be due to lack of these yarns in US. I do not order online. I am so allergic to many fibers, can't risk accidental exposure.
I loved whirl/Scheepjes when I first started crocheting right around the time they became massively popular and when I was new to yarn. Now I’m aware of so many lovely things that are available, I find myself using a wide variety of yarns/brands/dyers. I still have a soft spot for them though ❤
Absolutely gorgeous 😊
Thank you! 😊
Iv never used one but the projects you make in them always look so beautiful Rebekah I especially love the ombré style ones thank you for sharing them 😊Amanda xx💞
So kind thank you Amanda! I really enjoy using them 🥰
I have bought the small single color balls that you used in one of your granny squares. Being in the US, I had to order them from the UK. I like them , even though it is a thinner yarn than I am used to, but I have never seen the Whirls. I absolutely love that cake you showed us! Those colors are gorgeous, and I would buy that! Seeing your projects, their ombré fade is superior to the others I have seen on the market today. I wish the US market had this more widely advertised and available.
Your makes are so beautiful 🤩❣️
Thank you! 😊 that’s so kind!
Haven’t used cause the price is to high for me! But all you have made are gorgeous! Thank you!!
Thank you so much! 🌸
I still love them and have 2 in my stash. It's just finding the time!
Oh absolutely! I still love them too 🧶🥰
Love making baby blankets with these
Me too! Such soft and lovely drape! 🥰
Love the whirls. Making a summer top
Sounds great! ☀️🧶
That green shawl is absolutely beautiful 💚 I have never tried this brand of yarn but I have used the Cotton Kings and Twister from Hobbii as well as some from Red Heart. This is another brand of yarn I very much want to try. So much yarn choices and not enough time 😫 Thanks for sharing 😊
Oh absolutely! There’s so much to choose from! 🌸🧶
I love a whirl! I made the Lisa's Attik Shelscape shawl in Rhubarb Bumble and the 'this is me' shawl by Wilma Westenberg in Melting Macaron. The drape and colours are amazing! I too haven’t used one for a few years so your video has tempted me back so thank you! 😊
Wonderful! I bet your items looked so nice! 🧶🌸
I haven't used the Whirls. I can't work with yarn that's too thin any more. I have used their heavier weight and really liked working with it. Thanks for showing us your pretty projects and colors!
I’m still a big fan. I have several in my stash right now!
Always good to have some in the stash! 🥰
@@BlossomCrochet Yes; they’re just waiting for the perfect projects. I’ll know them when I see them!
I would love the shawl pattern you made for your Nana. Thank you dear
Thank you, I loved making it. It’s called the Victoria Shawl and I’ve popped a link in the video description 🧶🌸
I have never used any scheepies yarn at all yet but will be in the future.
I hope you love it when you try it 🥰
I started crocheting in April & have started on a round blanket with the scheepjes blueberry Bambam & can't wait to see how it turns out to then buy more. I love it, so different from the thinker yarns I have done on the 5 blankets I've made so far ❤❤❤
I used the scheepjes whirl for a round blanket. It’s the lotus flower blanket by Hooked by Robin, turned out beautiful, I’m making a second one with different yarn now.
@@MelissaJackson83 that's the one I'm doing. Got caught up doing blankets for other people & haven't been back to this one lol
That yarn comes in some amazing colors which added to your amazing talents equal an amazing finished project.♥🧶
Aw thank you so much! That’s so kind 🧶🥰
Still love the multi color cakes and will use them again. Have made various things- blankets mostly.
They really do make such lovely blankets don’t they? 🥰
@@BlossomCrochet YES!! I love the color changes that keep the project interesting.
Hello Rebekah I absolutely love Scheepjes I use Chunky Monkey most often I bought Scheepjes Softfun RICH Mini Colour Pack as a gift for myself (12 20g ) I have not seen Scheepjes Whirl to be able to purchase it I LOVE THIS BRAND 😁❤
I have never used them but they are really pretty colours I love the colours
The shades are absolutely lovely! 🥰🧶
Omg I love that color
Thanks so much. I’m always spoiled for choice with the Whirls! 🥰🌸
@@BlossomCrochet never used them actually I never heard of them until now
I love scheepjes whirl too, but it's very expensive for my pocket 😅
They are the more pricey yarn! 🌸🧶
@@BlossomCrochet Yes, they are, but one day I'll allow myself to buy a ball to make myself a pretty shawl 🥰
I love Whirls - would love to find a list of patterns for them. ❤❤
I've seen that yarn but have never tried it. It sure is gorgeous though!😍
It really is! 🥰
Always love their color combinations but have never used them.
They do have wonderful combinations! 🌈🧶
I think its an absolutely beautiful yarn, but alas, I can't afford this yarn. Price is outrageous! Love it though. 🥰💖
It is a little on the pricey side! 🌸🧶
I have that same color.. plus quite a few more. Got some to make the Nya mosiac blanket.. couldn't figure the pattern out. Got some to make the Asteria Mandela.. couldn't figure out that pattern either. ..
No one I know wears shawls.. and I don't know any babies.. so I stopped buying that yarn 😢.
I have a WIP at the moment using a Whirl with your pattern Modern Whirly Baby blanket. I do love the whirl so much, but it's so tiny to work with and I find that I work so much slower when I'm using it. They are not super easy to get here in Australia, and are roughly $40aud when you can get them, usually from tiny online stores. I will definitely get another one some day.
I do love a whirl. I too made the Dainty Diamonds by Ivy and Mabel in Melting macron. Another I did was the Peppermint tea shawl by lisaa attik for Black Sheep wools. I did this in the yellow to black fade. I have 4 whirl currently in my stash. Trying to remember which projects I bought them for. 😂😂
Ah yes, buying yarn and using it are two separate things that's for sure!! 🌸
I’ve never used these yarns. I live in the US so it’s not a yarn I can find easily. It’s beautiful though. 💜🙏🏻
It’s so pretty, so frustrating you can’t get hold of it easily there! 🌸🧶
All yarn has gone up in price in the U S so its harder on our budget. Sheepjes has always been expensive for us. So most people have gone to alternative yarn.
Yes I hear it’s trickier to get Scheepjes in the US which is a shame! 🧶
I do love the yarn but I’ve never used it yet still in my stash I have 2 of them, Did notice it’s getting harder to get them online now especially when I’ve tried ❤️😊
Think it's such a shame that they've become so expensive you can only buy them as a "treat".
Always admired them but would have to see a kidney to afford one in Australia!
Would love the pattern or you do a tutorial, for your nanas shawl😍stunning!
I just watched this video and I did not know about this yarn before. I love the items that you showed made from this especially the green shawl. But that and the baby blanket look like they were made with thicker yarn to me. I’ve never made anything with yarn this thin. Can it really be done , a blanket like that? I’m going to try to make a baby blanket for my friends coming grand baby.
Those items were lovely!!❤
I think there are so many patterns for shawls, but there are only so many shawls and blankets you can have or need. I’d like to see more knit patterns for tops, as I think knitting has more ‘give’ than a crochet garment. They are also expensive, and their Danish competitor has also raised the price of their similar cake yarn which makes it less attractive.
I have yet to try this yarn .
Hoping you can find the pattern for your grandma's shawl and do a tutorial fir it.
The written pattern is linked in the description box but I can’t do a tutorial for it as it’s someone else’s paid pattern. It was wonderfully well written though! 🌸🧶
Thank YOU
I’ve always wanted to use one because they do come in beautiful colours, but it’s the cost that puts me off. I should really check the metreage and compare that, there’s a strong chance it would come out cost effective if I did that!
Yes! Depending on the project you choose, you’ll only need one (baby blanket, shawls/scarf) 🥰
It is a lovely yarn. I have one but as I'm relatively new to crochet I'm struggling to find a pattern for the whirl that isn't too complicated. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks in advance x
I still love them, but I think a couple have now been discontinued too 💖
Oh no! I hope it’s not my favourite colours that have stopped! 😫🌸
@@BlossomCrochet I think it was Black Forest Zinger 🤔💖
I have made several shawls with them. I have arthritis in my hands now and cannot use a yarn that thin anymore. 😢 They are beautiful though.
I’m sorry to hear that! ❤️
Its a beautiful yarn I love to make shawls with it but there is no new shawls pattern ever out I could make a shawl one a week with this yarn.
I find Scheepjes yarn soft but rather loosely woven, which results in lots of splitting when I use it.
Yes it’s not would particularly rightly so I can see why you’d have some issues with splitting… I found it took me a little getting used to! 🥰🌸🧶
I can't afford this yarn or I would love to use it 🙂
i bought several (shameless! lol) but am too intimidated to try a project with them -- have been crocheting for a bit but but but....
I have used Chunky Monkey and loved it. The whirl is too thin for me.
I’m using chunky monkey right now! 🥰
Beautiful works! A bit pricy for my budget!
They are a little pricey but you’re right, they work up beautifully 🥰🧶
There are others yarns similar that are cheaper.
That’s very true!
I’ve just bought the scheepjes whirl yarn after watching your post and agree it’s colour change is great, but, it’s so very thin. Is there anything with those qualities in a dk or Aran weight?
☮️🌍🌲
Not in my budget at the moment. That brand has always been just out sude my budget. But it is beautiful yarn.
I agree, it is beautiful but a bit on the pricier side of the yarn market 🌸🧶
I think it's beautiful yarn. But I've never used it.
It is indeed very beautiful 😍
I've used them and think they are beautiful but i think they were sp popular with lots of youtube people have done the projects they wanted to a bit like the pocket wrap was. Also they aren't budget friendly with other better value options available
I'm in the US, where could I find this yarn,?
They are very pretty but it’s really expensive. 21 pounds equals 43$ Canadian. When you can purchase the same ant of yarn for 9$ it’s simple. All are a very light weight and difficult to crochet depending on disabilities or eyesight. Patience is also a factor. The fade is beginning to be challenged in alternate weights of yarn now and the price is better.
I am gutted that Marriner Yarns have ceased trading 😢 No way, no how would i spend £20 on a ball of wool! There's a cost of living crisis at the moment! Just checked online £22 to £35 a cake!😂
I’ve never used this yarn. I seem to have no luck with international companies and I am not sure what the US amount is for the yarn
Oh that’s so disappointing that you’ve had no luck with international shipping! I’m not sure how much it retails for in the US 🧶
Where do you buy scheepies yarn?
I’m in the U.K. and I buy them from my local yarn shop (Black Sheep Wools - they’re also online) but they’re also available online from places like Wool Warehouse and LoveCrafts 🧶🌸
Dots Yarn Den in the U.S.sells Scheepjes.
😘❤️😍🧶👏👏👏🥰👍
Whirls have beautiful colors, but scheepjes isn't releasing new colors and that's a bit disappointing. Also, I find the fuzz at the color changes annoying in the whirls.
They've only updated colors on one line, that i can think of, in the recent past (2-3 years), however they did release a couple new yarns, some of which are ok but some not great. Of course, that is personal opinion and we all like different things.
IMHO scheepjes as a brand overall is too expensive for the quality vs. what you can buy similar from other brands. What makes them stand out, in certain lines, is the color selection. When budgets are tight, a color selection isn't going to sell yarn.
It’s no longer in the budget……
Hello. The whirls are absolutely beautiful but sad to say that I have never used them!☺️🧶
