This was the reason why I said I'd trust Netflix and watch this series. I HAD to see if they'd get this scene right. And they got it as close as possible for live action, could've done with a bit more blood imo but the whole scene, *chefs kiss!* when it still can get me choked up in live action, it's done it right.
THAT scene is when most people fall in love with the series (if the hadn’t already). You can tell it was a big scene as it was one to one from the anime/manga. Phenomenal acting from the actress, she had a high bar to overcome with the expectations of this scene but she nailed it. I’m sure you’ll love moments similar to this further down the line if you do start watching the anime.
Nami saying help me and luffy putting his hat on Nami's head was the moment I was hooked on to one piece. You should watch/read anime/manga of Nami's story. Live action did a good job and actors absolutely crushed it but the original story is much more emotional and Nami suffers more there
In the anime what made me fall inlove with the series are: 1. Sanji and Zef story and their goodbyes 2. Nami asking Luffy for help 3. Shanks and Luffy backstory
In case you guys didn't know, the corrupt Marine's name "Nezumi" is literally the Japanese word for "rat". That's why he has little mouse ears and why Arlong calls him a rat. It's all just a big pun (the One Piece author seems to be quite a punpular writer).
The actress Emily Rudd mentioned in an interview that the Nami "help me" scene was what made her fall in love with the manga (along with many others), and now she's completely doing the scene justice and making new viewers fall in love with the same story at the same scene. SO good!
Yeah the Nami and "Strawhats assemble" scene at the end was pretty much identical to the Anime. It always was always so epic and so powerful of a scene that they just couldn't change it in any way😍
It's cool because both the live action and the anime are based of manga. The ending shot with them standing there and thier response to Luffy are 1:1 recreations of the manga panel. The background in live action is slightly different, as its the tangerine grove instead of the town. I don't mind that though because the grove is more personal to Nami.

Love your reaction.. and super glad that the live action (and Emily Rudd) managed to give a similar emotion for new comers thru this new medium.. I was hooked to the story from this point on from reading the Manga 15 years ago... and it just keeps getting even better from then on.. So enjoy the ride! Also you may want to dive into the Manga/Anime to at least get a deeper look on each character's backstory. Matt Owens and the showrunners really did a great job in adapting the East Blue Saga, but unfortunately due to time constraints, they need to prioritize things and leave some other great things out, which thankfully, can be experienced thru the Manga/Anime.. Now about Luffy adding more crew members, in the beginning of the first Episode, Luffy did say to the bird, something like: "10 men should do..and a bird.." So I'm sure he aims for more than the current 5.. Looking forward to the Finale reaction.. 🏴☠️
Emily Rudd was amazing, aznami her and anyaki as luffy really nailed the most iconic scene from the prolog of one piece. That scene Is beloved by all? And is usually the point. Where At least I was like. OMG, this is my favorite anime of all time. I mean, I was already loving It Before, but this whole entire arc broke me and solidified it as my number one great reaction video once again. Love you guyes can't wait to watch the finale with you too, and whatever comes next. You guys are fantastic.❤
20:30 In the anime version, she *did* tell her sister. Almost immediately after she made the deal with Arlong, she told her sister. Then, her sister told the villagers without Nami knowing, so the villagers *pretended* to hate her for years so that she wouldn’t feel guilty if she chose to run away. In this version, they really do hate Nami because she never told anyone, not even her sister. This version lack the emotional gut punch of learning that the villagers were only pretending to hate her for her own sake. In addition to that, the scene that happens at the beginning of the next episode, where the Straw Hats stop the villagers from attacking Arlong, happened *before* the “help me” scene at the end of this episode, and happened differently. In the anime, Nami was the only one trying to stop the villagers from attacking Arlong, but she failed to stop them because they were doing it for her, which adds to her desperation during the “help me” scene. The “help me” scene is dam near exactly what happened in the anime, and was done phenomenally in this version, but lacked the emotional context of the village knowing about her deal with Arlong all along and her failing to stop them from attacking Arlong.
28:34 that is so true, they’re not the most organized crew but they always follow luffy’s decision even if it’s unreasonable for some or mostly crazy at times
Good that u caught them sitting there and reacting to it. Not many reactors react to that small moment. brief. And is crucial. or they just miss that part.
This scene has received so much praise in both this Live Action version AND the anime. Such a great/emotional scene and they did an absolutely AMAZING job adapting the original manga scene for this series, keep watching and maybe even start the anime! Season 2 is already confirmed :)
Thanks for all the hard work YST!! Love your videos. One call it is there is no champion profile on Tatsu on the HH website. Pulled her during last fusion. Just an FYI. Thanks🎉
They did the scene so insanely much justice, Emily blew her performance outta the water. So glad they kept this in, its one of the most memorable moments in the manga/anime, because of how its done.
I got several friends into the series and I said it can take a bit but wait til episode 40 something (cant remember specifically) and you will be hooked. It was these episodes and they all agreed. Always said they were the hook and they did a great job making it the season finals
The anime version of that end scene is what got me HOOKED onto One Piece (it was more the boys doing the "walk to Arlong Park" which is worth the watch). This was also the part that got Nami's actress, Emily Rudd, hooked onto One Piece as well. She said this was the only scene she was nervous for because she felt the pressure of doing it justice.
That scene at the end is iconic in the anime. They really did a great job recapturing it for live action. So good. As for the crew, remember in the first episode Luffy said '10 should be enough.' So you can guarantee more are coming. Wont say anything more here except bring the tissues cos we are in for a helluva ride😁 My new favourite quote 'Look i zoned out cause he was pissin me off.'😂😂😂
Nami's arc the scene Nami asking Luffy for help after stabbing the Arlong tattoo and Luffy and the gang ready to help her is one of the most iconic scene. The Live action made Garp look like a control freak. He is nothing like that in the anime. He never chased after Luffy like that. All we see about Garp is flashbacks of him training him to be a marine and don't want him to be a pirate as he does not want him to end up like all wanted pirates, executed or captured. He only appears roughly around episode 300+ in the anime which is so many arcs from this season the East Blue Sea Arc.
They did it to give some grandfather love to Luffy, to make Garp not seem so distant. It didn't ruin his personality at all. It gives more to the character. Garp after the event at the Marineford and going back to the village and getting attacked by the lady. ( keeping it as spoil free as possible ) all was meant to show that he does care. Here in Live Action, we learn that Garp does care, he just doesn't want his Grandson to end up captured by a marine and sentenced to die which lines up with his personality. In regards to the Control freak depiction, he was, in the Manga, we learned that Garp constantly putting Luffy in dangerous situations at a young age to train him. The Live Action was tame in comparison.
@enightc I read the manga too but I would not say he is a control freak. He was just especially strict with Luffy when he was child because of Dra***. He does not want Luffy to end up on the opposite side of the Marines and be a wanted person. I get the Live Action wanting to give some spotlight and introduce Garp but some new audience misunderstand him. If you understand, he is just a very protective grandfather and because he on the side of the 'law'.
@@japkorox91 which the next episode explains it. If he was a control freak he won't be saying what he says next episode. So he still retains his protective Grandpa persona. They added things that what I would call is a hindsight change.
@enightc Based on some reactors, some are still puzzled by his actions after watching the last episode. Not sure if it's due to a cultural difference thing? 🤔 The show may have include scenes like the last episode to retain Garp's personality but some people still misunderstand him. It's a pity the Live Action was limited to just 8 episodes and the whole production team had to squeeze everything in due to all sorts of circumstances.
@@japkorox91 I agree totally, but the good thing about One Piece Live Action, it makes people interested to go to the Manga and Anime. Bringing in more fans that can't wait for season 2.

The Nami scene was the moment I was waiting for them to react to. When I first watched that scene in the anime I cried so much, but it didn't hit the same way for me in the live action. Maybe just my baised towards the anime. So I'm glad first time watchers of the live action felt the same way I did for the anime in that particular scene.
garp is gold roger's rival and one of popular characters in the anime they did him bad in the live action or they have plans for him . luffy is exactly like garp in behaviour
If you love the “Luffy, help me” scene, then you should be even more excited when they do the “I want to live” scene. Can’t wait to see that in live action.
In the anime, Luffy actually refuses to hear anything about Nami's backstory, and so when Nami says that he doesn't know anything about what's going on ... he really doesn't know anything except that Nami is his friend and that someone named Arlong made her cry and self-harm, and that's all he needs to essentially go to war over. Also, when he puts his hat on Nami's head, there was a small flashback of him saying that his hat is his greatest treasure, set up as Nami realizing how massive of a gesture giving her his hat actually is. But yeah, you guys nailed how important the hat going on Nami's head truly was.
Actually, Luffy knows more in the manga that he does in the live action if he reads between the lines. Nami actually told him beforehand that she was stealing money to buy back a village; Luffy might have figured it was this one. Knowing Arlong killed her mother is one thing but it doesn't actually tell him why Nami is doing all this.
The Nami "help me" scene is an iconic moment from the manga/anime, and they absolutely nailed it. Emily Rudd acted her ass off in this episode, they definitely gave this particular scene the justice it deserved.

And they got it as close as possible for live action, could've done with a bit more blood imo but the whole scene, *chefs kiss!* when it still can get me choked up in live action, it's done it right.
Just when you think you've felt all of the feels, The tears, rage, and raw emotions take it to the next level.
Live action did a good job and actors absolutely crushed it but the original story is much more emotional and Nami suffers more there
In the anime what made me fall inlove with the series are:
1. Sanji and Zef story and their goodbyes
2. Nami asking Luffy for help
3. Shanks and Luffy backstory
The way carlie jumped when nami stabbed herself was fkn hilarious 😂
Ange geting hype up by the "help me" scene are peak one piece fan tight there
In case you guys didn't know, the corrupt Marine's name "Nezumi" is literally the Japanese word for "rat".
SO good!
OMG! Carlie and Ange welcome to the family! That is the scene that hooked us all. ❤❤❤❤❤
This scene from the anime made me an onepiece fan❤ & they done absolutely justice to this scene in live action
Yeah the Nami and "Strawhats assemble" scene at the end was pretty much identical to the Anime. It always was always so epic and so powerful of a scene that they just couldn't change it in any way😍
No walk tho😢
@@rakhatthenut3815 sure, but still it's pretty much *THE SCENE*
I was expecting the overtaken OST but it was still very epic scene
It's cool because both the live action and the anime are based of manga. The ending shot with them standing there and thier response to Luffy are 1:1 recreations of the manga panel. The background in live action is slightly different, as its the tangerine grove instead of the town. I don't mind that though because the grove is more personal to Nami.
@@rakhatthenut3815I might be wrong, but I don't remember the walk being in the manga. The live action is an adaptation of the manga, not anime.
The acting in this episode is phenomenal. I am definitely excited to see how they do with certain scenes later on in the series.
The one piece is real 😢
In the manga and anime, that scene where luffy puts his hat on nami is one of the most iconic moments of all time
howdy!~ so i saw your guys reactions in a montage and i have no idea if you guys approve of those being made or what not, but i loved yalls energy in them and the emotional hits and so i was like "thats it, we are watching their reactions (starting here but ill go back and watch the others as well, and then probably a lot of your other series!~ im a huge one piece addict Q.Q and i love binge watchign reactions while gaming. so thank you for the entertainment and for joining the adventures ^.^
I have watched many of your reactions thus far and I don't know what's in the water lately, but this show has brought the best jokes / puns out of the both you!
Maybe the best Moment in the lice action and the Anime. Just great writing and acting
This part in the anime is where most people fell in love with one piece.
That was me. This is when I was all in!
This is one of the emotional scene in the live action. Loved it and your reactions ❤
Emily Rudd was amazing, aznami her and anyaki as luffy really nailed the most iconic scene from the prolog of one piece. That scene
Is beloved by all?
And is usually the point.
Where
At least I was like.
I was hooked into One Piece for the exact same scene too. Then I started to binge watched every episode since 2011
12:14 well Garp's a marine and Zeff's a pirate. I wouldn't say childhood friends.
Nami actress performed that scene so well ❤
E7
02:55 Nami flashback starts 08:00
13:25 Bellemeire dies
15:54 Arlong-Nezumi scene
18:37 Garp-Zeff scene
21:10 Help me 24:30
luffy mentions how many crew members he wants in the first episode
28:34 that is so true, they’re not the most organized crew but they always follow luffy’s decision even if it’s unreasonable for some or mostly crazy at times
that scene at the end was nearly perfect adapted, great show
That scene is incredible hey!
That scene ange enjoyed with the crew standing and waiting is an identical copy of the Manga slide. It is exactly the same spots and stances.
31:57 Remember Luffy’s first scene in the first episode? He said “about 10 men should do”. That wasn’t just a throwaway number😉
Good that u caught them sitting there and reacting to it. Not many reactors react to that small moment. brief. And is crucial. or they just miss that part.
Every time I see that scene with Nami and her arm, then her asking Luffy for help I cry. It's so good.
25:46 this scene made me fan of one piece anime 🥺❤️
they actually did the source material justice
"That was my favorite scene"
The scene that hooked mostly everyone. That got me so good
In the first episode, Luffy already told us how many crew members he wanted to see. And he's pretty damn serious when he talks about finding One Piece
Oykot kingdom in reverse is the Tokyo Kingdom. There are japanese cities hidden amongst island names
Those ending shots are straight out of anime and they nailed it
OP really excels at these emotional highs and I'm really happy that the adaptation has managed to capture how hard they hit in the source material.
This is the scene that hook all the fans for the manga and anime. We called it "The walk to arlong park"
That scene at the end is iconic in the anime. They really did a great job recapturing it for live action. So good.
As for the crew, remember in the first episode Luffy said '10 should be enough.' So you can guarantee more are coming. Wont say anything more here except bring the tissues cos we are in for a helluva ride😁
My new favourite quote 'Look i zoned out cause he was pissin me off.'😂😂😂
Great reaction!
Here in Live Action, we learn that Garp does care, he just doesn't want his Grandson to end up captured by a marine and sentenced to die
which lines up with his personality.
Nami’s “help me scene” is iconic, and is widely considered the point of the series that people get hooked on the story of One Piece.
When nami arc come out in manga i was 19 on a train to go to my college. It was full passenger so I was standing up with op manga on my hand reading. It takes all of my strenght not to cry reading em. Since then i learn my lesson to nvr read op manga on public coz its one of manga that make u laugh or cry no matter how old n tough u are.
The walk to Arlong Park is one of the most iconic scenes in fiction. It's worth watching the anime for this scene even if the episodes Ar-Long.
The Nami scene was the moment I was waiting for them to react to. When I first watched that scene in the anime I cried so much, but it didn't hit the same way for me in the live action. Maybe just my baised towards the anime. So I'm glad first time watchers of the live action felt the same way I did for the anime in that particular scene.
absolutely amazing ❤❤❤
5:15
A: "This woman's about to get absolutely massacred by someone."
Angelo's cracked the code
garp is gold roger's rival and one of popular characters in the anime they did him bad in the live action or they have plans for him . luffy is exactly like garp in behaviour
