    *****Show Note: Tidal Forces Error******
Just as a heads up there is an error when we're discussing tidal effects, I mention gravity as an inverse square-force, which it ism but tidal forces tend to follow an inverse-cube effect with distance, that's fairly important in this context as for instance an object 400 times further away than another (like our Sun and Moon) would have 400³=64,000,000 times less tidal effect not 400²=160,000 effect, of course the Sun is far more than 160,000x the Moon's mass, indeed it's 27 Million times the mass and hence has almost half the effect the moon does, on Earth, but a binary 10 AU away would be further diminished another 10³ or thousandfold, so measurable but hardly the big tide generator implied here. My apologies for the error, we'll have to save an in-video correction for another relevant episode, though I'll note it as one of the reasons I try to avoid episodes this long, errors like that are more likely to slip past the radar. :)

you could also make the rings rotate slowly accelerating to the speed you want for the planet so people of all colonies can go there without feeling sick during theirvoyage, maybe have spparate rings that will acceelerate at different speeds so they can get to the gravity of the planet that will be colonize in a way they wont vomit, as seen in the expanse and their children will also vomit if you sont do this since theyre used to their ring and people can go freely to the other rings whenever they want, also giving the abilty to repurpose the colon ship as a shipyard in orbit

The space shuttle was inspiring, but it lacks the fuel capabilities that conventional rockets do. It's difficult to admit but the shuttle failed in it's original task of lowering the cost of getting to space. It was an amazing attempt at reusability but the way NASA was operating post-apollo I am not surprised we didn't leave low earth orbit.

But 80000 to 17355 the numbers are way to big to get realistic there and every message needs 4.3 from sending to receiving it.

@@alphatrion100 I totally agree but people dreaming about it without doing the math is nice but doing the homework should be done so people realise we should at first save our environment before dreaming about terraforming another planet.
Even the starshot Projekt with 1g space probes for Proxima Centauri would have pumpt the energy production of the United Kingdom plus 20% into the space proble for seconds to accelerate it to 20% of the speed of light.
You need the power plants for a UK to do it. With 100% efficient energy transformation into lasers to send the engergy to a 1g space probe because I'd they are not efficient enough you need way more energy than that.
But the best part the engergy has to be converted by 99.999998 into acceleration and not in to heat.
Because any efficiency less then that would just evaporate the 1g space probe and would not accelerate it to 20% of the speed of light.

but his simplifying the science and explanations of scientific concepts is why people come here rather than read wikipedia or the textbooks. The same draw as bill nye before he went sjw.

Yeah I know I shoud be ashamed by Bill Nye but I couldnt stop laughing my ass off when that happend also yes it be a bit over simplified but I do think he should make a good author with the story he layed out for the last few years which would be a marvelous idea for a book about humanity exploring and settleing the cosmos with a good degree of realism in it and regarding the science well yes sadly I have to agree with you but at the same time he could do a general description regarding the sciences which he will have to oversimplify but there are always his marvelous videos but I do fear if he did started writing down a book his videos wouldnt be of such great quality anymore or with the same degree of realism thats made in the videos thats my opnion anyways.

It's actually a bit of in-joke on the Hades 9 game team, one of the easter eggs in the 'Nostalgia for Infinity' bar, but the game isn't suited for a Unity storyline and I don't really feel up to writing it, a couple of the authors who hang about here have expressed and interest in doing so and gotten my blessing, but I haven't heard any updates on it of late.

Not only do many people need to stay behind on a doomed Earth to maintain the laser system, but they have to intentionally have and foster at least three doomed generations of children whose only purpose in life is to continue that task religiously. I have to say, I'm seriously impressed. You are the first person I've encountered to have proposed a plausible reason to evacuate Earth. People talk about us needing to leave earth because of pollution and/or climate change as if the things they plan to do in order to survive in space and on another planet would not work here for some reason.
How can anyone imagine it would be easier to transport billions of people several light years and either terraform a completely inhospitable planet or build thousands of artificial habitats than to simply fix the comparatively minor issues with the planet we actually evolved on?
Even if we eventually manage to make the Earth completely unfit for human life, it would still make far more sense to create all those artificial habitats on or near our home planet.
I'm all for humanity spreading out a bit but I don't think we will need such drastic motivations to begin. The prospect of making trillions from mining and the pure adventure of it all should provide all the motivation needed.
