"I understood it correctly that there is a failover mechanism. When the internet connection via WAN goes down, does it switch to the USB internet connection? If not, is there a way to configure OpenWRT to make WAN the primary internet source and USB the secondary? When WAN is available again, it switches back. Thank you."

Ok so what is the point of this, this is just a hone experiment, no practical use,
Just use your dumb phone's wifi hotspot to share if that is the goal,
And also Why would you buy a router with no broadband service.

Bạn có thể để một chiếc điện thoại đắt tiền phát wifi 24/7 ? Đó là lí do cho video này. Mục đích sử dụng khác !

@@NhanNguyen-og8dl ok so you would rather buy a router as well as a dongle/ modem and not use the mobile hotspot and turn it on and off when needed.
look, I just asked about the practicality of this experiment.

@raviraj4122 Well, let's say you need to use a computer with a rj45 cable. How can you hotspot it to the computer?
Or if you want to have a stable internet connection 24/7, a phone can't even do it for a week, but this combo can do it for years.
So for comparison, a dumb phone's wifi hotspot is like a quick bandaid fix, while this way of doing it is a weld shut solution.
      Different use cases for sure.
And if you already have a router with a usb port, and an old phone, bam, this combo happens.
So you can have one more solution at your disposal, nothing is 100% better than the other, it just helps you expand your options, and help you make the best out of limited resources.
So i can say it has some uses.

@@jathonyalexsandra2632 Ok sir, you seem educated enough in the networking sector, my question was about the practicality.
as you mentioned the temporary or permanent solution, so I ask you, how fast or rather how much bandwidth do you get in your country with telecom network? is it cheaper than a proper internet broadband connection? well of course the mobile hotspot is the temporary solution but this handiwork shown in the video is also the temporary solution, is it not?
just think about what kind of audience this video is trying to target. and just look at the other comments if you can find any pattern.
