Fun with alkali metals K, Na, Li

Potassium, sodium and lithium are mixed with water. Phenolphthalein is added to indicate the formation of a basic solution.
2K + 2H2O --- 2KOH + H2
2Na + H2O --- 2NaOH + H2
2Li + H2O --- 2LiOH + H2
The potassium reacts the fastest which is both good and bad. This was 3 chunks of potassium at once. The sodium is my favorite and we did a small chunk and a big chunk. The lithium isn't fun to watch, but lighting lithium on fire is.
