thank you knifesnot for another safe and dangerous hallows eve. swissing you all the best for your very mice looking game "Rules & Rodents" releasing Q1 2025, I hope and brie-live it will be highly ratted on steam
bones! I will say that I enjoyed the voices. But ever since I randomly stumbled on the "Mr. Bones Wild Ride" episode many years ago, the thing that has enraptured me about the series is your incredible comedic judgment for getting laughs out of scrolling text alone! Nevertheless the gradual creep of new elements into these episodes has helped keep them fresh for us (and I suspect you making them). So, voices *if* they make it easier for you to keep coming up with material and motivation for bone vids. Otherwise, keeping a strong text element feels right. Thanks so much for all the years of chuckles and guffaws.
Voices, N. A lot of the charm comes from not choosing to be blind so I can watch my yearly tips from Therapist. Game, Y. I like rats. Also thank you Mr. Skeltal for the Stairs fan service.
Opinion on the voices ? yeah no, as funny as these can be, the true appeal of Bones is that it essentially is a modern take on silent films so having actual voices go against the core of the series, the Banjo-Kazooie mumbles are great though, but don't even get me started on the AI aspect of it, I don't mind it here since it's a filter and not full-on text-to-speech but people would HATE these and I can't live in a world where Bones is hated by the masses
i feel like voices would be ok as an occasional bit, but there's kind of an old-school diy charm to the text that i'm afraid would be lost if it was all voices all the time
This video made me want to play an indie game related to rats for some reason... i'm probably thinking about **Rules and Rodents** a puzzling adventure where you abuse the Rules set by your Rat captors! 📜🐀 Manipulate enemies and environments with the commanding power of Rules to escape !
It's a NO for me for voices. Over the years, the delivery of a ricesnot episode is something that upon reflection now, has manifested and developed in my head. The personalities and delivery is going to be something different for everyone I think. Voices though provide a very definitive and certain portrayal of that though. It's that mismatch now that's not working for me. --- So more specifically, this could perhaps work for particular characters and scenarios perhaps...... The vibe of this video just doesn't align with what has made the series so unique for me to date.
gonna vote N on voices, it was nice as a gag once but the charm of the series has always been the text on screen. I like to read them in voices I made up in my head
Gonna say no on the voices, they were better than expected but I think the magic of the bones is in the written word, plus the real-time typing added an improvisational feeling anyways, to say nothing of the ethics of using AI
I cannot believe Bones and Therapist have become sell outs!!1! (I will wishlist the rat game) As for voices, I think the text on screen is more charming, especially when it's misspelled and retyped. Thank you for another informative Hallo-- Gamerween video
Thank you bonesnot for the yearly informational video. I'm a Y on the voices, especially because you purposefully made the AI stutter and make mistakes to add back in the feelings of the typos and backspacing. However I also like the text and wouldn't mind having a mix of text and the occasional voiced gag.
for all intents and purposes the text that appeared as one whole block from the original bone vids still had the most comedic potential in how abrupt dialogue could be vs the banjo-kazooie typing and correcting thing or AI voice acting
As a certified true gamer I was able to wishlist the game that contains rodents while the video was simultaneously playing, truly a marvelous plan of action so that us gamers don't have to pause the video to wishlist the product. However it has also diminished my engagement with the video for that brief period of time, lessening the effect of enjoyment by a certain amount. While it was a brilliant course of action for this video I'd also say that future videos would give us certified true gamers a well deserved break from gaming to fully indulge and immerse ourselves into the worlds of wonder that you produce with written text on the screen rather than using audible replications of human air manipulating exhalations that some might consider as voices.
exceedingly funny that the majority of the yearly Halloween advice video was spent on promoting a broadly unrelated Steam game; good advice given and tortuously implemented knife puns incorporated, cheers rice, happy halloween as ever (re: voices, i think that the comedy of the saga lies in the dramatic pauses between each line of dialogue, which may be jeopardised by extemporaneous vocal riffing)
Voices: N. . . while Charming in their own right, and possibly very handy for a select few newcoming characters, the Current Cast would be found much better off with the written text!
I'm gonna say "no" to the voices being a permanent thing for these bones videos but I'm still looking forward to more ai exploitations like your series of Time Crisis videos
I think as a very occasional gimmick the voices can stay but I definitely prefer a more weighted balance towards straight text. That said I did find them funny and a nice experiment. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
I vastly prefer the text, honestly. You don't have to worry about delivery getting in the way of jokes. But if you're going to do voices anyway, I'd much rather the voices be actual VAs, or even properly sourced text to speech programs, than AI gen. If it's an issue of access or cost, I'd be happy to point you in the direction of VAs who'd be happy to work for low cost or free, myself included.
This was a cool change of pace, but I truly do think Therapist should sound like a tuba and that Bones's only audible words should ever be "Take what ye"
I think you could use the voices for new characters or as some kind of joke for existing characters. But I would probably say no to having everything voiced in the future. Appreciate trying something different tho!
I feel like I'm only really against voices for the main cast, I feel like I'd be open for AI voices for side characters or new members. Regardless thank you for always keeping us safe every halloween 🙏
I'm on team text, but I'm pretty impressed with the intonations and tones AI voices can do these days. If you made a new project that wasn't already so ingrained I'd love to see what you did with them, you seem to have a really good handle on them and their strengths.
@@ricesnot Ah, for some reason my mind jumps right to text-to-speech for AI voices these days, that explains everything! Very nice voice work reece keep it up
My guess is he's using voice interpolation (recording himself then layering the voice over it) instead of a text to speech AI. Actually, it's not a guess, it's a fact, the real mystery is what software he's using
Rat gaming store.steampowered.com/app/2923230/Rules__Rodents/
I'll buy two, one for me now and one for the me after you hire me for your voice actor (my prices are reasonable [free])
I Strongly advise you keep it with the Written Text !
cool game
Just realized I've been watching bones for 12+ years now
It’s 13
@@Moramany please stop
yeh it's that time of year
My bones are turning to dust someone please help me
You didn't need to remind me of this fact
No joke when I heard therapists theme again after all these years I almost started sobbing
Thanks for the Steps fanservice. I appreciated that
It's thanks to these guides that I've managed to survive each year
My bones quake imagining what life would be like without them
A man of culture I see.
How in the hell are you here Dosh? You ought to be back in the mines, creating circuit abominations beyond which even Therapist can comprehend
This is honestly the last place I thought I'd see you but here you are. It's a small world (of bones fans).
dosh is a bones fan?!? this is nuts
im glad voices appeared as a one time gimmick, but i'd rather have it all written :3
It's not bones without the banjo-laylee speech

Thanks you for the hot tip @therapist. I'll have my knives at the ready.
voices: N; the blind will come to see my perspective on this.
Text comprehension and reading foreverrrrrr
Banjo-Kazooie noises with text > AI Voices
THIS + THE ANNUAL GOBLIN DANCE RIPS ARE THE ONLY THINGS THAT I LOOK FORWARD TO

I, the voice of the voting republic, say YEA to voices. Good to see you, bone rattler.
I did laugh at the voices yes, if they stayed, I would still take it all, this is not the first audio upgrade the channel has had

That sounds truly delightful

Voices no. I like the Banjo-Kazooie noises best.
ricesnot is officially british
I like the voices even if only because hearing you break character and laugh in the middle of a take is really fucking funny
gonna vote N on voices, it was nice as a gag once but the charm of the series has always been the text on screen. I like to read them in voices I made up in my head
I'm so thrilled for this new era of bone comedy

i gamed too hard and missed this, but now i've seen it... we are truly in the 21st century

Thank you Therapist for the yearly hot tip
I like how Bones sounds exactly what I thought he sounded like back in sixth form
also both, voices are cool but the text is iconic™
GAMING!
Also I liked the voices! Only acceptable use of AI, ever. I wouldn't mind either text or voices going forward! HAPPY SPOOKY MONTH RICESNOT!
glad to see another ricesnot vid again
Crazy that the candy pic you used is that really heavy art exhibit of the guy's weight represented in sweets before he died of AIDS
I mice just wishlist it after all! Another hallowcheese classic

Wishlisted. What's up gamers
Always love seeing these videos every year. Also, it'll be an N from me regarding the AI voices.
How dare youtube not put this in my sub feed.
I prefer no voices but I'm glad you're still around
No other time of year matters
Yall are insane the voices are funny as hell
i will say voices Y, just for the sake of "voices yes" having a nicespot on the scoreboard (at least one point)
thank you for *13 years of bones
Yes, very much voices
I'm partial to the rpg-esque text babble myself
N on voices long term
Y on video being excellent
I hope therapist has a loicence for that knoife.
I love Steps so much
This was definitely funny, but I prefer the good ol classic sounds

Hey, I like rats. Also I like the voices, but maybe RUclips will add an option to turn off voices and music in the future in case I just want to read.
or I guess you could just use Audio Tracks, they have those too
honestly i wont mind either but i am leaning towards n
This was a cool change of pace, but I truly do think Therapist should sound like a tuba and that Bones's only audible words should ever be "Take what ye"
great episode! i think i prefer the banjotale voices though, gives each character a unique tonal charm

Okay but how do the voices fit the characters so perfectly? Y.
The annual Halloween event came early this year
the voices are charming, but it cant beat the classic text, i dont mind it here and there as a gag maybe, but it being all written is the way to go
voices is great you should just switch between the banjo kazooie text and voices for comedic effect
I think the AI voices ruin the charm of the classic sentence mixing vibe of boneskino, but if it gets us more than one TaTM a year I'm all for it.
