Gurl I relived my life 10 years ago of being a directioner, this was a whole rollercoaster for me. One Direction no matter what, is a huge influence in my personality and self acceptance for who I was at the time, i was probably my loneliest when One Direction was just "there" for me. The boys are and will always be remarkable, and so happy of how they've blossomed into their own little directions, just proving how talented they actually are! As someone who went to the same high school as Harry during the X-Factor years, something I found really interesting was how some of the hype on the show was manufactured. When they did the home visit (footage which I don't think made it on the show), they basically took a bunch of students out of school to stand in the background and cheer when the group walked from their car to the house. We went along with it because it was ALW (Alternative Learning Week) where we were meant to learn "life skills" which was painfully dull, but my class' ALW basically turned into One Direction Week where we helped the teachers/school look better for the cameras, painted signs/banners, and fill gaps. Our school didn't get featured much in the end, except for one really awkward news interview with the drama teacher, but it still changed my perception of how these shows push specific agendas. People would also give our school a 5-star rating on google which was hilarious because it was barely pushing a 2. (Also a bungalow is basically a one-floor house.)

Damn. I got into one direction in 2012 and was a big stan for YEARS. Like was obsessed w them - had posters of them on my wall, would fan girl w friends, write fan fiction, had a dedicated Twitter account for them, would stay up all night *pun intended* to watch interviews and participate in 1D related Twitter hashtag parties LMAO. It was actually kinda wild thinking about it now but made my early teenage years rlly fun. Eventually I grew out of that phase and stopping keeping tabs on the boys so I forgot about a lot of shit that happened while being an active member of the fandom. Some of the small details you mentioned awakened something in me😂 Watching this was bitter sweet but thank you for taking the time to make it! Gonna go binge listen to some old 1D songs now and reminisce about much simpler times🥲 Edit: For the record, Midnight Memories was probably their best era imo. When I tell you this video made me feel like i was 13 years old again and how I loved being in the fandom at the time -and also managed to go to a 1D world store lol- and what you said about Zayn leaving is so true, it's one of those things that you remember exactly where you were and what you were doing, it's one of my most vividly memories of middle school. I was walking with a friend through a hall on the third floor, I was counting my money for lunch. I hadn't been able to check twitter or anything that day and suddenly my friend grabs my arm as I'm about to walk down the stairs and tells me, with her phone in my face "Zayn left the band" when I tell you I was so shocked. Even years later, I'm 21 and it's still so vividly in my memory.

This is a great video for someone like me who lives in India and never listened to English music up until college (2015 the year they broke up). It's been fun following them as solo artists and really getting to understand the culture shift they were as a band. One direction has literally created the template for how to make a hit boyband in modern Internet age, I could make a dissertation of how it's influenced both Western and Kpop groups No one knew back then how big they'd be, even their own staff, I remember back when they opened for big time rush in the US, a huge group back then because of their show on nickelodeon, but the venue hosts quickly realised alot of the audience were coming purely for one direction and started to split the time allocated in half, literally insane in such a short time period and it was only the start and we all know how it got bigger
I remember going to see This Is Us in 3d with my mom, and we ended up being the only ones in the theater. But for the first half the 3d wasn’t working but kicked on in the second. So we got free movie tickets and I definitely used those free tickets to see it again 😂

Damn. I got into one direction in 2012 and was a big stan for YEARS. Like was obsessed w them - had posters of them on my wall, would fan girl w friends, write fan fiction, had a dedicated Twitter account for them, would stay up all night *pun intended* to watch interviews and participate in 1D related Twitter hashtag parties LMAO. It was actually kinda wild thinking about it now but made my early teenage years rlly fun. Eventually I grew out of that phase and stopping keeping tabs on the boys so I forgot about a lot of shit that happened while being an active member of the fandom. Some of the small details you mentioned awakened something in me😂 Watching this was bitter sweet but thank you for taking the time to make it! Gonna go binge listen to some old 1D songs now and reminisce about much simpler times🥲
Edit: For the record, Midnight Memories was probably their best era imo. Anytime I listen to it, it gives me great nostalgia from my 1D Twitter days😂 the guitar and vocals from LBD lives rent free in my head😩

When I tell you this video made me feel like i was 13 years old again and how I loved being in the fandom at the time -and also managed to go to a 1D world store lol- and what you said about Zayn leaving is so true, it's one of those things that you remember exactly where you were and what you were doing, it's one of my most vividly memories of middle school. I was walking with a friend through a hall on the third floor, I was counting my money for lunch. I hadn't been able to check twitter or anything that day and suddenly my friend grabs my arm as I'm about to walk down the stairs and tells me, with her phone in my face "Zayn left the band" when I tell you I was so shocked. Even years later, I'm 21 and it's still so vividly in my memory.

This is a great video for someone like me who lives in India and never listened to English music up until college (2015 the year they broke up). It's been fun following them as solo artists and really getting to understand the culture shift they were as a band. I probably discovered them the most random way through "late late show carpool karaoke" 😂 (so quirky).

One direction has literally created the template for how to make a hit boyband in modern Internet age, I could make a dissertation of how it's influenced both Western and Kpop groups
No one knew back then how big they'd be, even their own staff, I remember back when they opened for big time rush in the US, a huge group back then because of their show on nickelodeon, but the venue hosts quickly realised alot of the audience were coming purely for one direction and started to split the time allocated in half, literally insane in such a short time period and it was only the start and we all know how it got bigger
I remember going to see This Is Us in 3d with my mom, and we ended up being the only ones in the theater. But for the first half the 3d wasn’t working but kicked on in the second. So we got free movie tickets and I definitely used those free tickets to see it again 😂
Funny how my own kids dragged me to see it in 3D and I've been a fan since. Now, during the pandemic, I've been binge watching every single compilation or reaction out there!
