  • Welcome! If you don't want to measure or plan too much TODAY, this project might be for you. Follow along as I take a pile of scraps and turn them into a bright, fun quilt for charity! This project is very forgiving, and super cute. This quilt top took me a total of about 8 hours to complete.

This made me laugh out LOUD! ha. Well guess what, every time I think it's all gone, I find more in a drawer, and yes, there is a bit more I have found a couple weeks back. So, yes, we are going to see it one more (and hopefully last) time! I might do something completely different though, I have an idea percolating!

@@cathymonroe8191 Hi Cathy! I have a couple of "spooky season" quilt tops - here are the links: table runner ruclips.net/video/HLQZrs65uTc/видео.html. 10 inch square beginner quilt
ruclips.net/video/wUR6j319e90/видео.html. and a couple of spooky panel quilt tops
ruclips.net/video/jVbjEp9YCpc/видео.html. But honestly, ANY quilt tutorial can be adapted to fall, just by changing up the fabric! Look for dark versus light, versus contrast when converting - and most of all have fun and ENJOY!

Guess who HAPPENED to catch this, your newest video, yesterday on my tele-RUclips? ME!!!
Now ... guess who has been up since 1:30 this morning, taking my separated crumb pieces (created over the last week), and picked up on a VERY good tip from this video? ME !!!
I have a TON of scraps stashed around the studio - - a sign that I love making them, but do not know how to actually use them.
You solved my paralysis issue! The tip I picked up on today/yesterday is to separate scrap blocks into sizes .... TIP! Start at the largest scrap blocks, so that left over cutoffs from sizing up each block can be put with the smaller blocks.
GREAT IDEA! So simple, direct and yet, illusive to my befuddled, scattered brain. AGAIN! THANK YOU!
I can hardly wait to find a scrap box that has never had me playing with the scraps and experience the joy you must have when you start on a fresh bin of scraps.

One of the things I have wanted for some time was some continuity to try to calm my tendency to keep adding variety of colors. By starting with the larger scraps to fit them to the five inch squares, I have found that it did indeed create what I was looking for. I like the tiny scraps and get lost in the larger ones. By discipling myself to work with one box of scraps, there are many duplicates of color throughout the blocks of the quilt (duh! Mary!). One day soon, I hope to actually empty my box of five inch squares with the sparkly of related crumb blocks. I keep posting on your tapes to try to keep all that you have taught me in front of other scrap lovers. I do appreciate your postings. They have encouraged me and improved my production immensely. I do not know if I will ever "graduate" to 15" squares, but I do own a ruler for that if I ever get through my current work material@@sunbeamfabricart

Love this. And, my! You're really skilled at rotory cutting from all angles! (I'm not good at that!) When I can use a rotating cutting board I do that--but, I can see how learning to rotory cut from all angles would save time. Also, I love the blade saver cutter to cut threads!

Oh thanks so much for subbing! And yay! I love my machine, it was in my budget and it has worked well for me for over 5 years now. For FREE MOTION QUILTING: If you are using the quilting foot that came with the machine DON'T! I finally went to my local sewing machine company, and they sold me a 'real' free motion quilting foot. For STRAIGHT LINE quilting, just use the walking foot and it will be a dream! Here's a couple of videos and one of them shows that quilting foot I'm talking about. ruclips.net/p/PLNgJsWBvdLlGUoWT63VFh6UkZaHyx9-Je

Great video. Scrapping is my favorite. Adding the strip long or short is a great idea. I am going to try it. Maybe with a plain color or colors. I don’t have a lot of scrap colors so have just mixed my colors but think all one color would be a nice lap quilt. I am finding that when pressing if I do open seams much less bulk especially the smaller pieces of fabric
