What is your opinion on non invasive compact snorkel available for jimny.

Hi Infinite Being, I have seen few European Jimny owners searching for this compact Jimny and get it shipped from Brazil (top quality but very expensive) or Mongolia ( sub par product ). The look is amazing with this snorkel.

I am hoping you are talking about the snorkel in the link above. In India, I am not sure how easy would be to get this one. But if we get a good brand and a decent price, people would most likely go for this snorkel instead of the regular Safari Snorkel. Good luck.

Hey bro, what's the approximate cost of Safari snorkel for Jimny (including fitment charges) any idea?

    • @IndianTrailExplorer

Hi Rudra Sharma, There is a big range on the cost depending on the brand and if you want to go for functional / dummy snorkels. Dummy snorkels + installation can range from 9K to 13K. The functional snorkel + installation can start from 12K and go all the way up to 60K ( depending on the quality / brand ).
      Hope this helps. Good luck.
Tip - Go to a mechanic who has good experience in installing snorkels, novice mechanics with no prior experience on Snorkel could cause long term damage to the vehicle and cause more expense to owner.

@@IndianTrailExplorer thanks alot bro, yes i was talking about functional snorkels, so i can get a good functional snorkel for around 20k right?
Also is there any rto approval required or any legality issues?

      Hi Rudra Sharma,
Absolutely, you should be able to get good functional snorkel +installation ( for 20K or less).
Though there are not any specific RTO rules that states that installing Snorkel is illegal in India, the car modification rules in India is very fluid at this time and without disrespect to any state police, different state police interpret the rules very differently.
Example 1 - The Jeep / SUV owners in Kerala who were hailed as hero's during the Kerala flood, as they dared to take their vehicles to save people from deep water (As they had snorkels) were booked recently due to after market modifications. All the jeep / SUV owners in kerala had given a written petition to Kerala CM to reconsider their scrutiny.
Example 2 - In most of south India, digital copy (Digilocker) of vehicle papers are widely accepted by cops and Government of India has passed a law to accept the same. ( Including brand new vehicles). However in some of the states including Punjab, many cops mandate to have paper documents and demand fine from car owners ( especially from South India). Initially i thought this could be a one off case but i have heard this incident happening with many of friends who do inter state driving.
Any vehicle that is going to grab attention especially from outside state, might be subject to scrutiny and better to have not too fancy mods. ( to avoid such situations during long drives). :) . I plan on having a basic snorkel any whichever way. Good luck.

Looking at the latest news, the price for Alpha variant of jimny is going to touch/cross 16 lakhs for on the road price. This will be very close to Thar pricing 4wd and costlier than thar 2wd. Maruti needs to relook atvthe pricing.😮

      @IndianTrailExplorer  Год назад

Yes it is disappointing to know the Jimny pricing will be higher than expected.
Probable reasons - ( any financials expert can add their expert opinion)
      a) Maruti seems to be capitalizing on the interest of consumers and demand (30K + bookings) for Jimny ever since the Auto expo in 2023.
      b) CGST 14% PLUS SGST 14% which means around 28% for GST. So more than 2.6Lakh Rs we will be paying as GST.
      c) Compensation Cess - 17% - Around 1.6Lakh we have to pay.
For the basic model Zeta (manual version) - we are going to end up paying more than 4.2Lakh as tax for a car whose accessible value is 9.41 Lakh ( almost 45% in tax). Total - 13.6 ( approximately) for the basic model Ex-showroom price. This is based on the leaked invoice which is in public domain.
Difficult situation for Indian consumers like us who live most of our life in budget. :)
