- It’s certainly easier to make assumptions about people than it is to spend time getting to know someone. We wanted to put assumptions to the test to see what we're missing out on because we're so busy assuming we already "know" a person. Join us as we discover why you should never judge a book by it’s cover in our series, Reverse Assumptions.
We are all conditioned with certain biases. In this experiment, we challenged these biases by asking people to make assumptions about their partner's appearance without ever actually seeing their partner. When they flipped around to finally face each other, they were shocked by how wrong they were.

Children are much less biased, they are so much more open-minded about everything, adults are more often than not set in their ways of thinking and doing something that they are resistant when change approaches.

That is true. The kids in the video would already carry a lot of bias, exactly as you say. I was thinking that while watching, but that those not mean that they are as bias as their parents (yet) hence that would make them less bias overall. Since children grow to be biased, they are not born bias, they would naturally be less bias the younger they are. Though I must be fair and say that the workshop in the video doesn't prove the question - at the very least you need a comparison conversation to the adults and more controlling factors to actually say one way or the other.
Wait...how can they be biased when they haven’t even seen the person? To name their race is part of the game, to describe what the other person looks like without seeing them...like what. Its just not easy and honestly nothing is easy, but the chances get slimmer on some ends. I still think its not impossible, I just don't think at this point of time, with the jobs of today, that its worth the shot. He can do what ever he wants, his still a kid. Lol besides I wanted to be a Marine as a kid. I never became one, instead I've found that I like medicine better. He can do anything with his life, I wish him the best what ever he chooses.
I did this with some elementary students last year to teach them about tolerance. They were so shocked when they saw who was on the other side ☺️

Omg, the little boy is so adorable.
While the experience might be biased by the awkwardness of being filmed in a studio, and probably around adults -which are tall and impressive for this adorable children, it is still interesting to notice that we make assumptions bade *ONLY ON THE VOICE* of a person.
I can't even imagine how many assumptions we make when we see someone... Sexe, race, style, posture, you name it! One eyedrop is enough to transform us into judgmental assumption monsters!
I wouldn’t say that’s a bad thing though. As humans being judgmental, biased, making assumptions, it’s all apart of us. We grow up thinking differently, living differently, expressing ourselves differently. And with that comes different opinions and outlooks which in turn makes us judge each other. In some cases it’s bad but in others it’s good.

Honestly I think children are generally more bias than adults.
Possibly less judgemental and times but they are more bias as they attach to their parents thoughts and beliefs.

Angel A I disagree. It’s perfectly natural for a child not recognizing the race of another child they are interacting with to want to know. What’s great is that he felt no awkwardness in asking and was polite, not feeling the need to make a joke or lighten the mood or explain the reason behind the question as an adult might do. The girls response was not angry or offended as some adults may have been, she did not think it rude or odd, she just answered. Plain and simple. Now if adults could just learn not to read something in everything too.
I don't think the kids saw color as an "issue". Just an unimportant feature like age or anything else they asked.

Beat cream cheese, sugar, milk, lemon zest and juice in medium bowl with mixer until blended. Gently stir in COOL WHIP.
