Sora to Umi no Aida takes place in Onomichi, Hiroshima in the year 20XX where one day, the fish disappear from the ocean and leave only whales. The Ministry of Fisheries also intervened by experimenting with making a large sized fish tank in space.
The Onomichi universe fishing association was formed and began training the space fishermen. Many female fishermen are asked to strengthen the law of employment opportunity for men and women.
Six new female fishermen were chosen and the story centered on their development as female fishermen in space.
