It's 5:30 am and I'm sitting here at my computer drinking my coffee, watching these vids one after another. Happy as a clam just watching actors I grew up with,..with a small grin on my face. I'm not bothered who's at the top of the list. They're all wonderful. Thank you for all of these.
Lancaster in The Crimson Pirate, one of his earliest movies, remains one of my favorites, a great swashbuckler. Don't get to see it much now. An underrated actor I've always enjoyed, maybe even if not exactly deserving to be on this list, is Frank Sinatra. He could hold his own with the great actors he frequently starred with.
I think they are all number one! Look, how many times have you seen films with these actors and thought, my goodness what a great performance! It’s so difficult to rank them!
Most are quite valid. I do have problems with someone like James Dean. Yes I know...he played in a few magnificent movies. He had great promise. But his early death does not warrant a place on this list. Just my view though
A favorite Kirk Douglas film of mine is, “The List of Adrian Messenger” (1963). Directed by John Huston, and Starring Krik Douglas, Dana Wynter, Clive Brook, and George C. Scott. With (disguised) cameos by Robert Mitchum, Tony Curtis, Burt Lancaster, and Frank Sinatra. (And Kirk Douglas wore many disguises too.) As always, thank you so very much for the videos.
Here's a brief on how AFI chooses these top X actors/actresses: AFI defines an "American screen legend" as "an actor or a team of actors with a significant screen presence in American feature-length films (films of 40 minutes or more) whose screen debut occurred in or before 1950, or whose screen debut occurred after 1950 but whose death has marked a completed body of work." In other words, the list generally honors actors recognized for their contributions to classical Hollywood cinema.[1] Jurors selected the final lists from 250 male and 250 female nominees.
I think Burt Lancaster’s first film, The Crimson Pirate, where he did all of his own stunts, ranked among his best. This was just after he left the Circus.
Duvall doesn't qualify under AFI's criteria, as he made his first film in 1962. AFI restricted nominees to actors whose film career started prior to 1950.
The Marx brother's are funny but so are the 3 stooges, But if we're talking about acting and box office lm curious to know where Charlton Heston, John Garfield, Steve McQueen, Lee Marvin, Paul newman, Anthony Quinn, James Garner, and Charles Bronson are on the list .

That is like John Cazale. Great actor short career due to dying young.

One of my favourites.

😊 thanks for the great video of the westerns movies 😊
No problem 😊
They should have included Robert Duvall, from True grit to the Godfather and so many other good movies
Yep.

Deniro, Pacino, and Nicholson deserve top 3.
Buster Keaton nickname was' the great stone face" since you didn't see him smile
You do in his earliest films with Fatty Arbuckle- check them out, they're on YT.
There are two Brits on these two lists-Chaplin and Olivier. For my money, there should be two more- Alec Guinness and Charles Laughton.
Let's go for 3 Brits - you forgot Cary Grant
@@oldbutbeautiful you’re right I forgot, but he’s on the list 😀
And Peter Otoole
Tyrone Power is the greatest moviestar ever
The Marx Bros and James Dean over John Barrymore Robert Ryan and Alan Ladd? Not in my book. At least they remembered Edward G Robinson
If the Marx brothers were nominated why weren’t the 3Stooges?
I'm so sick of zombie AI voices!😢
This could have been a nice video but the narrator has anemia and he was so boring and lifeless that I stopped watching.
