I lived in summer hill for a years , I’m just down the road now in Sheriff street.. both areas aren’t too bad now since they pulled down most of the flats complexes and moved the locals into the working class suburbs .. you should go to to Finglas , Ballymun, darndale in the Northside.. The copper thought i’d been fighting and said tough, that’ll teach you to behave, i was only saved by an off duty nurse who happened to be on a night out as well, she tied a tourniquet to my wrist with shirts and towels and her friend drove us to the hospital, she basically saved my life, she stayed with me until i was stitched up and she said i was probably about 3 minutes from dying ! Right place right time for me i suppose. Bless her ! We kept in contact for a few years after and even now, i often think of her and what she’s up to. I’ve got two kids and three grandkids today, so not only did she save my life, she had a hand in the creation of another five, an amazing girl !! 😊

Like in all, walks of life there are bad apples. The majority of, the Gardai I found to be sound. As for Garda visibility on the streets, that's another question. O' Connell Street, and environs from, past experiences there wasn’t a Garda in sight. 30 years ago there was, always a Garda presence outside the GPO, and noticeable on foot patrol. To be truthful, when abroad I feel safer walking around at night, than I would in Dublin.

I hate the way people in general, not just police, use kids as an excuse when they see someone with a camera in public. The way they infer that you must be a nonc3 who is only there to film the children just because they don't like being filmed is crazy. It only makes me more suspicious of the person because they are going to such lengths to try to avoid being filmed.

Billy,👍 that Garda was out order, telling you not to film children,asking did you get the parents permission. His comments, could incite,someone to attack you, believing what was said to be true.
Like in all, walks of life there are bad apples. The majority of, the Gardai I found to be sound.
As for Garda visibility on the streets, that's another question. O' Connell Street, and environs from, past experiences there wasn’t a Garda in sight. 30 years ago there was, always a Garda presence outside the GPO, and noticeable on foot patrol.
To be truthful, when abroad I feel safer walking around at night, than I would in Dublin.
