5 Facts about Ada Lovelace!
Ada Lovelace was an English mathematician and writer who is considered the world's first computer programmer.
She was born in 1815 to Lord Byron, a leading figure in the Romantic movement of the early 19th century, and his wife Annabella Milbanke, a highly educated mathematician.
Lovelace was also a talented musician, and she saw a connection between the creative process in music and mathematics.
In recognition of her achievements, the US Department of Defense named a computer language "Ada" in her honor.
Despite being largely forgotten after her death at 36, Ada Lovelace's visionary ideas on computing continue to influence computer science, celebrated every second Tuesday of October with the Ada Lovelace Day.
