Does the boot just twist off in the same way? So there’s no need to remove the boot from the console. Unless you’re replacing the boot, too, of course.

This is not my 997. It's a aftermarket shifter assembly, don't remember offhand if it's a short shifter.
May have missed it, but did you call out the brand name of the shifter and boot?
The boot is factory from the car. My 997 sleeve/adapter/knob fits the factory shift lever.
