Seems like you are fairly new to Muskie fishing! Nice fish although they are very fragile fish out of the water, leaving the net in the water and using long pliers to remove the hooks minimizes the chances of them dying hours after released, they build up more lactic acid than most fish during a fight and this causes them to be overly stressed to be only tossed in the boat and flopping around removing its slime coat with no water to breath. There are some great muskie release tip videos that should really help make it easier on you and the fish! Tight lines!
Yeah you're right, they don't do well out of the water for long esp. in the warmer months. I try to hurry the best I can, and if I'm taking too long revive the fish off camera. I've caught over 30 mukies but only had to spend extra time reviving 2. Still not good but I'm learning. I'm not making excuses but it's also harder when you don't have anyone with you. When I am with someone else that caught one, I'm usually the one saying, okay we got to get 'em back. Thank you for your feedback and thanks for watching my video.
