I didn't. I was induced with my first at a day shy of 42 weeks. Took 29 hours. With my second I was induced at 36 weeks for obstetric cholestasis. Took 8 hours. Went into labor naturally at 41 weeks and I couldn't tell if it was Braxton Hicks (which I had all the time with my older 2) or labor. It started and stopped for 3 hours before I got checked out and was only 3 cm. I was surprised, it wasn't labor, but Braxton Hicks surprised me before with other pregnancies. I packed up and in the hallway my water broke when I was leaving. And that was it, he was crowning. 7 cm in under 10 minutes after 3 hours of "Braxton Hicks". The line between false labor and labor isn't nearly as cut and dry as people make it out to be.
Yes! I just had my baby a few weeks ago and I kept hearing that early labor feels like period cramps and aren’t that bad but as soon as it started it was so painful, I had terrible back labor so I couldn’t mistake it for anything else!
Gotta say this lady did her job and 100% more. Not only did she awnser all the questions profissionaly, she expanded on the biological reasoning and provided a solution for questions that involve a problem
Yeah, most standard advice regarding exercise is if you were doing it before you can probably do it during as long as you're careful and listen to your body if it tells you to stop or if you have higher risk factors.
Most definitely. You use a LOT of muscles when giving birth, it makes it way easier to pass the baby if everything is healthy and strong. My first baby came out no problem, and I’m convinced I used to lift weights quite regularly (on restrictions currently with my second pregnancy, so I can’t lift right now 😅)
@@ryboi1337they do, and they also split apart a bit too, which is why afterwards a band is often worn to help the muscles come back together properly. Look up images of torso muscles while pregnant.
In Brazil there's an interesting policy on the 19:27 topic. All purpose wheat flour and corn flour has folic acid and iron added to it, so our every day food has higher content of those important nutrients. Most pregnancies in Brazil are not planned, this federal policy help keep babies safe until their mothers find out about the pregnancy. No, it's not perfect, but it's a good policy.
3:00 - Just be careful what kind of exercise. When my mom was pregnant with me (first kid) she was told "normal excercise." The doctor didn't know she was doing aerobics several times a week and Mom ended up with an abdominal wall separation
I wish more people asked what happens after birth. Like, I saw online a woman was wearing a diaper along with her baby because she had to because she was leaking fluid?? Like, what about how do mothers have to do to take care of themselves and their new baby? Especially when they’re single!
you're proving a lot of our points. people seem to focus exclusively on the pregnancy, and not what happens after pregnancy. i'm agreeing with you, btw. after birth conversations should be discussed just as much as we discuss pregnancy and delivery.
A cousin of mine had TWO cryptic pregnancies. Her menstrual cycle continued as normal, she didn't gain enough weight for it to be noticable (she isn't even remotely overweight either that's the scary part), and both times she had no idea she even was pregnant until she was in active labour.
I have heard SO many times people say in a cryptic pregnancy that the cycle continued as normal. It's just not even slightly medically possible though. But I don't think all these people are lying. There's got to be an explanation. There must be some phenomenon that could cause a regular bleed, that seems similar to a period, during a pregnancy. I really wish someone would study this, but it would be so hard to. You can't recruit study participants if they don't know they're pregnant!
12:30, to add to this. in 2024, a small black lady went to the hospital to delivery, but the baby did not make it. The hospital dropped off the baby to the funeral director which was wrapped up tightly. the director unwrapped and found the baby's head detached. called the med examiner who found that the delivery MD had issues delivering the baby and pulled too hard and popped his head. Best part, parents had no idea until the police contacted them to get information.
@@kayday1996 Thanks. Found several articles. Yes, gruesome, horrifying. BBC article was best short summary. The hospital (which didn't employ the doctor) refused the mum's request for a caesarean, and covered up what happened. The doctor is still practising. Business, profits before lives.
That's so true about feeling illiterate. I could hardly form a sentence towards the end. I would start to speak and completely lose the ability to make any sense or hold the thought in my head. It was pretty scary actually. I also had just gotten sober a month or two before pregnancy so double whammy on these memory loss and other symptoms as your brain heals.
I know someone who had a cryptic pregnancy. I had no idea it was so common. No missed periods, no noticeable weight gain, no positive pregnancy tests. Absolutely insane.
Hunh, that’s really interesting! That explains why when I was pregnant with my daughter they had me drink a lot of water before I went to my ultrasound
They do this with other kinds of ultrasounds too. I've had a couple for other uterine/ovarian things where I had to down a liter of water 30 minutes before and then couldn't pee until after the scan was done and yeah it's mild torture but it helps them get a better view of everything by the bladder 😵💫

I just want my baby 😂😭😭. I’m pretty sure this will be my last pregnancy. This is also my first time being pregnant
@shaniaT10 hi there. The more sick you feel during the first trimester the healthier your pregnancy is. It means the hormone levels are rising as they should. It will even out in the second trimester.
@Vallecaucanisimo Actually thats a myth. Some people genetically are able to withstand rising in HCG and not vomit and feel sick etc. So basically if your mom didn’t have morning sickness chances are you won’t. It’s genetic.
Even 22 weeks is viable. I know twins who survived at 22 weeks and 3 days. One twin has mild cerebral palsy. Some babies have survived at 21 weeks, but it’s pretty rare. By 24 weeks, the survival rate is 50 percent!!! It’s pretty incredible. I hope that in the future, scientists can create an artificial womb for little tiny preemies. I know that they’re experimenting with animals, and it looks promising, but these kind of developments can take a very long time.
Yup! Viability is almost purely a function of medical technology. Babies born today that would have had a 100% mortality rate 50 years ago can have a good or even excellent chance of survival. I personally know a girl who was born at 21 weeks. Her father’s wedding ring could fit around her body when she was born. She’ll be entering college soon.
@@AnaLucia-wy2ii dang. That’s wild! I’m a quintuplet and we all had health issues. My brother had some mild cerebral palsy. Lots of lung scarring too. In fact one of my sisters is dealing with those effects now that we’re middle aged.
Our 5th pregnancy was twins. I'm only 5'0 tall and small, and I started showing very early. We conceived the twins when our older son was only 2-1/2 months old so my uterus had barely gone back down at that point.
My little sister did something like that. She was a week past her due date when she miscarried her first pregnancy in mid February, then she was pregnant already in late March. She's type 1 diabetic, so always a risky pregnancy. My nephew was born healthy at 10 PM the next Christmas Eve! 🙂
No. No. No. We NEED to talk about how horrible the first trimester is for a lot of women. You can give me a pill for nausea... I can take a pill for headaches... but you can't take away multiple food adversions or the demoralizing feeling of eating what you want but it isnt made right. And you no amount of caffeine can keep that pregnancy sleepiness away. Lol what about the excessive saliva and all those smells!? I have 4 kids but the first trimester have me rethinking my life choices!
@ A girl who was practicing karate had, I believe, her first period. Her pants were stained with blood so I just reacted to cover her and assured her that it's completely normal. I asked her which backpack was hers, told her to go to the bathroom and sit in the toilet while I went to grab her backpack so she could call her mom. I felt so useless, I could hear her sobbing and all I recall is telling her "Don't worry, it's completely normal, nobody will make fun of you", just reassuring her. Luckily her mom arrived in like 5 minutes and took over the situation. Like I said, I'm glad I'm a male. The most I have to worry about is getting a knee to my nuts, but that's an entirely different story.
Some people who had gone through both a pregnancy and had a kidney stone, thinks that the kidney stone hurts more. Not to say that pregnancy doesn't hurt though. I suppose because during the pregnancy, some things makes it a bit easier - while during a kidney stone, nothing in your body helps you then.
Well cramps aren't bad for everyone and some of us can avoid certain foods that trigger cramps, or use a heating pad which gets rid of cramps. Pregnancy sounds terrifying though.
Sorry to bring politics into this, but imagine forcing a woman to be pregnant when she doesn't want to be? All those changes in her body, plus more not even talked about in this video. Even your teeth can shift! It's not ethical to put a human being through this against her will.

This happened to me and my husband close to Christmas on 2023 so we can relate, we were devastated... the possible causes are several and they may change depending on where the embyro was implanted. I had a fallopian tube removed by emergency that day because that was where my baby had stopped instead of going inside the uterus. Thanking God my ob-gyn helped us a lot and had me made several treatment afterwards to reduce the possibility for it to happen again (once you had one ectopic pregnancy, you have a 50% chance to have it again each time, so you have to be very careful at the beginning) and now I am 34 weeks pregnant...
I would think that exercising to some degree during pregnancy is not only OK but recommended to ensure a healthy and safe birthing process
I always wondered what happens if a toned woman with abs becomes pregnant. Do the abs go over the baby bump lol
My first baby came out no problem, and I’m convinced I used to lift weights quite regularly (on restrictions currently with my second pregnancy, so I can’t lift right now 😅)
@@ryboi1337they just move to the side and after baby comes they will most likely be separated.
@@ryboi1337they do, and they also split apart a bit too, which is why afterwards a band is often worn to help the muscles come back together properly. Look up images of torso muscles while pregnant.

Smells of perfumes can cause endocrine unbalance.
I'm a man, and I also have unending respect for all the moms, but the thought of going through pregnancy and delivery horrifies me!
After that, by starting pre natal care, public health services will provide folic acid and iron pills for free. Also calcium, if needed.
@@gBaldaconi isn't all purpose unhealthy? it's literally just processed wheat flour which lacks nutrients.

3:00 - Just be careful what kind of exercise. When my mom was pregnant with me (first kid) she was told "normal excercise." The doctor didn't know she was doing aerobics several times a week and Mom ended up with an abdominal wall separation
Fun fact - we *all* get abdominal separations when we carry a pregnancy to term.
Fascinating. Much gratitude to this engaging physician for choosing the challenging specialty of treating high-risk pregnancies.
A cousin of mine had TWO cryptic pregnancies. Her menstrual cycle continued as normal, she didn't gain enough weight for it to be noticable (she isn't even remotely overweight either that's the scary part), and both times she had no idea she even was pregnant until she was in active labour.
that's actually terrifying
I have heard SO many times people say in a cryptic pregnancy that the cycle continued as normal. It's just not even slightly medically possible though. But I don't think all these people are lying. There's got to be an explanation. There must be some phenomenon that could cause a regular bleed, that seems similar to a period, during a pregnancy. I really wish someone would study this, but it would be so hard to. You can't recruit study participants if they don't know they're pregnant!
This makes me glad to be celibate.
19:27 It's also recommended to continue to take prenatal vitamins after pregnancy while nursing.👍👍

My sister in law is currently pregnant with her first, sending this to her right away. Very informative
May she have a smooth and healthy delivery ❤
Yeah, I showed a lot earlier seconds time around. My body said “oh yeah, I recognize these hormones” and let everything go
Yup. Particularly after a meal, I could look 6 months pregnant already at only 10-12 weeks along
@ ugh yeah it was absolute torture, but yes I had to do another ultrasound for some uterine issues I had
That's actually so the bladder pushes the intestines out of the way so they can see the uterus (I asked my tech one time - I have endometriosis)
Currently 12 weeks pregnant and God I can smell everything and hate it. I can’t keep my food down, I quit the gym because my body can’t handle it anymore, headaches everyday, nausea, insomnia.
Fetus
I’m 12 weeks too! Except I haven’t had the smelling thing!
@Vallecaucanisimo Actually thats a myth. Some people genetically are able to withstand rising in HCG and not vomit and feel sick etc. So basically if your mom didn’t have morning sickness chances are you won’t. It’s genetic.
I had this, it started to get better after 20 weeks for me, both times.
I was born at 28 weeks 40+ years ago. Wild that 24 is viable now!

My nephew swallowed poo before birth. He nearly died and he lost a kidney. He is fine now, but he was in the hospital for over a month.
My favorite character on Downton Abbey died of preeclampsia.

I find pregnancy so fascinating! She needs to come back!
No. No. I have 4 kids but the first trimester have me rethinking my life choices!

i can never imagine how people can suffer 10 months for this, thanks mom

I'm so glad I'm a male. I couldn't even handle the cramps during the menstrual cycle, let alone the "side effects" of pregnancy.
You're so lucky 💀
There are certainly a lot of upsides to not having a uterus and estrogen/progesterone-dependent body
As a guy, I couldn’t even fathom going through something like pregnancy. It’s awesome (magical even) how women can do that…
