I can't imagine how many 4 doors could of been saved from the crusher. If we only knew there would be this crazy looking dude in flip flops masterly hacking 4 doors into 2 doors. Love the build keep doing it😁
@@catsaregovernmentspies I bet one could chop bits off the unused portion of the rear doors to make a piece to extend the front doors.. Then, the challenge is the glass.
It’s awesome I’m looking at it from like a growing up with no cool cars bc we had no money stance like his ideas and builds make having something awesome achievable for the dads with a thousand other things to pay for… you can still have the cool car just go to get creative
Heard a story about a guy so meticulous with his restoration he didn't have or couldn't find the correct washers for the body on frame. Stalled the project so long he never finished it. You do a great job of "keepin it movin" . It's been my experience most critics aren't doers.
Love how you said you were going to cut the metal on your plasma table and then proceeded to cut it on the hood of the car with a grinder. Very funny….
Red oxide was a great idea mystery viewer! Sometime when a person is doing videos, lots going on in the creators head and the obvious sometimes is missed! (Been there/done that!) This is a budge fun drivers that people will be giving the thumbs up as you cruise by! Love it!
Red primer guy...that was me. I'm gonna do a Vince McMahon strut around here for a couple of days, don't mind me. You can look, but don't mind me...this is my jam.
I used to sit around and try to do perfect metal work, and use as little filler as possible on my own projects, then one day I realized I don’t care about that and started just slapping them together and it’s so much more fun
Me too but what why bother being perfect, who has the time and money for trailer queens in these extremely over priced days. Build them, drive them and enjoy them.
I love it too. Nothing like a base model with a big engine and not much fancy stuff on it. When it is a '66 Biscayne it is even better. Keep going Dan. I also can see having more fun with the low value car over the high value car.
Red oxide primer. Years ago there was this chevy truck. It was painted with red oxide primer then clear coated. Oh! And, those moon caps, hanging on the wall might look good on the biscayne.
Dude, I don’t comment much but just wanted to say SCREW people that tell you what you should do. I totally enjoy what you do and the best part is they are DRIVERS! Your taste is good, your builds are dependable drivers. Plus you don’t have to worry about scratches etc. DRIVE ON MY FRIEND!!
Dan...You're like the plastic surgeon of old wanna be hot rods. You know those 4 door cars always wished they were 2 door hotrods. You're making their dreams come true and they love you for it!
Kudos to your one out of 600 commenters. I was thinking myself that you should have used red oxide, but it didn't occur to me to tell you. Looks much better. Love the build.
Like You, I'm somewhat minimally equipped and do most of my best fab work with 7" cutting and flap discs on a hand-held angle grinder....I've been warned numerous times how dangerous this equipment can be even when using the safest practices possible and I'll admit that the damn thing has bitten me a couple of times and I've learned the hard way that every precaution needs to be taken during every moment the blade or grinding wheel is spinning unless I want to spend a lot of time and money at the emergency hospital..... The piece you are cutting on should always be clamped or otherwise secured to something stronger than the machine's ability to bite it wrong and send it and the machine into uncontrolled kaos.....If you aren't going to do it to set a good example then do it for your own safety because we all want you to prosper and keep making awesome videos..... I'm not trying to be a jerk or the safety police (I'm not a fan of police) and if it seems that way, I'm sorry...... You are showcasing how budget hotrods are built and keeping it real and doing it better than half the shows on Motor Trend channel.....I love it!
I wish I could do body work that nice. I repaired a rocker on my work van with aluminum tape and rattle can, and it lasted three years. I was proud of that. Lol
Shit Dan...for what you have invested, including labor. You'd never buy a true two door for what you have invested. Besides Dan nobody, I mean nobody would ever know that that runner started Life as a four-door at 60 MPH. And some people that doesn't know anything about vintage Chevys would still not know that it started life as a four-door. Lol People can say what they want. But you got yourself a two-door hot rod brother. This is why I love your Channel Dan and will be a lifetime subscriber. An don't miss a video. Keep On Motoring Brother!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Back in the early 70's there was a 56 Chevy in Oklahoma City that was made from 2 front halves. Whoever did it did a pretty nice job on it. I never saw it drive but it sat on a car lot and looked drivable. You should build something like it and really showcase your skills!
My friend you are jamming! I am shocked that you haven't had 100 subs as of yet?!!! People should be watching, it is good stuff to see! Keep up the good work my friend!
Wanted to do this is shop class in the late 70's teacher said no cause it would have taken to long , I didn't think he was right, from what I see here on your build it wouldn't have ..... bummer , love the build keep it up 👀👍
At the end of the day, it's your car you can fill it with steel wool thousands of body shops did it for years. I think it's fantastic that your taking the time and effort to convert 4 door sleds into 2 door hot rods.👍👍
That's funny right there, plasma table!! Dewalt angle grinder on the hood of the car your building!! Not a spare hood, but the actual , , , You are for sure, the funniest commentator on u-tube!! And perfect audio with the mic I might add!
When I started watching this video I thought of the same thing about the red oxide primer. Then you could just paint over it with a clear coat and probably get as good a match as you could. It's worth a try before going out and trying to find the color match.
I am a four door guy..especially these, but what you do with 4 door to 2 door conversions is simply amazing...they really look factory...people are just gon nit pick cause they just admire your work behind closed doors...keep up the awesome craftsmanship💯👏👍thank and Dani for sharing your vids..can't wait to watch them.
Dan i like that your saving these old cars from certain death, who cares what people say if your a car guy you get it people thought i was out of my mind to save my 57 2 dr hardtop only thing original is roof and firewall, anyway like the channel keep it up.
Lovin' this build. I love 50's chevys, but it's cool seeing some different cars. You'll learn some new tricks too by messing around with some different stuff.
Going to be a awesome driver. Coming along very nicely. I’ve always thought those cars looked so good with old rally sport wheels. Keep up the good work Dan see you on the next one. ✌️😎👍
I am so glad you decided to do the nomad right. It deserves a good restorod restoration. It'll also will be worth more money nearer to stock. I have a 55' nomad completely original. It was a heavily optioned car w/ air and power windows,100 thousand miles and even has original linoleum in the load area. The car is matador red with navaho white top. Give your grand old lady( the nomad) some class . There are only 12000 left ( approximately).

Dan, I haven't bought new Sheetmetal in years. Like you, I make patch panels out of scrap. When I run out of scrap, I go to pick-n-pull and find the biggest flattest hood I can find for $40. That last me a year or more. At my age its productivity over perfection. Love your videos.
Hi Dan, great job on the panels....Years ago, a neighbor was restoring a 69 Caprice that wouldn't turn over...found out the ground strap to the firewall wasn't making a good connection. Once cleaned and secured better, car started right up. I like Bad Chad, too. Take care!
Hey Dan Rick 427 here that fiber glass filler your using ìs good stuff here in the states they had a product called kitty hair that was the same stuff I used it on the bottom of the quarters of a 77 camaro back around 1987 and 1988 it was a buddies drag car as far as I know it is still on the car and the rust never came back I did a bad ass paint job on it it was maroon and I ran a bunch of different color candy stripes on the car about 8 different colors the car looked great and I got a ton of work from racers at that track in Alabama. That kitty hair is as hard as a rock. Your friend from Louisiana Rick 427
Awesome video. And I agree with the part about doing a full concourse resto is over rated, people spend years and endless amounts of $$$ on restoring a car ,yeah they look nice but then you end up being to scared to drive the damn thing.
