He’s only doing what is natural. He’s the oldest male and needs to assert himself as such, it’s a good thing for them to have a strong leader to keep others away. He’s one of the few males that has survived and he needs to be treated as such.

Monkeys in wild have strict hierarchy. They maintain peace because everyone knows their place. Eating order etc… I only guessed at reason this troop doesn’t follow monkey Cody because most were raided by humans. So they can assimilate into other troops in future it would be best for them to learn pecking order now. What they don’t know may kill them in future, just my opinion.
