This first Hebrew city was built on 5 hectares of dunes northeast of Jaffa. Who could think to plant trees on sand dunes? Tel Aviv founders had a dream to built a garden-city with broaden boulevards and European chic!
The ancient sycamore fig tree become the representative of this new-old city. The song was written about those amazing trees, as they are rooted in Tel Aviv's history, they have important tale to tell . Now Tel Aviv became a bustling metropolis with coastline filled with hotels and instead of trees, skyscrapers reach the sky. But still some biblical sycamore tress, can be found along modern valleys of Non Stop City.
Once upon a time there were sycamores here,
sand-dunes all around and even a scenery.
The city of Tel Aviv of those days
was a lonely house on the shore.
And there were times that meetings were set
back then under sycamores in the shade,
and next to the trees the girls laughed
and answered in song: "hey howl!"
Yes, this is it, yes, this is it
this is the sycamore garden

some time back in the days.

Tel Aviv raised suburbs around itself
everything in it is planned and checked.
Roads were built in it, the sycamores forgotten
