- JioMotive is a car tracker, car router and OBD II based device from Reliance Jio to convert your existing car into a smart driving experience. JioMotive device works with JioThings App
JioMotive empowers you to effectively monitor your car’s health and location with real time alerts and notifications. It provides you a host of other features including analysis of your driving pattern and trips. It also creates in-car Wi-Fi hotspot which can support upto 8 devices.

as this uses an elm327 ..is it possible to use jiomotive with other obd apps like torque or car scanner ?
Is it compatible with Toyota Hycross Hybrid? I understand that the OBD-II pin interface on Toyotas is (was?) somewhat different to other cars manufactured in India.

The hotspot for any android box would be a boom, I won’t be needing to switch on my phone’s hotspot all the time. 🌚

If u r a ola or uber driver, use this device, one sim in mobile and another sim in car, recharge this sim and use its data with hotspot, and charge customers extra for free wifi. It will be a good business strategy and useful for customer in any situation.

I think volkswagen cars already have this feature. just need to connect the phone to car.
If we used other OBD in new car then it avoids any warranty? I have recently purchased maruti car and they said warranty laps. If you used any 3rd party device.
That has nothing to do with warranty. Warranty voids only if there are any wire cutting for extensions of accessories and other fitments... This thing comes from plug - in feature.. So your Car's warranty won't get void... Go for it 😃👍

Good Product/ initiative, Jio is in right way to bring something new to the market, I appreciate that.. But the idea is kind of okayish, And I don't see a lot of people purchasing even from the Targeted audience..

Thanks for sharing Venus! I also feel with few more software upgrades, they may be able to provide more services. But Jio historical doesn't have a track record of giving regular updates to their devices.

Hi Sibi, for this particular device, a separate SIM need to be bought and activated. There are some car manufacturers which are giving these devices with their cars. They give a SIM card built-in already along with this device in the car.

In my Volkswagen polo same device is installed in the OBD2 port by Volkswagen(free of cost) with a 3-year plan but, this device is a real pain in my ass, it consumes a lot of battery and sent fake notification at midnight like your vehicle has been towing, the engine is ideal etc. and some times it stops working randomly. The device is creating a hotspot but internet access is restricted, I raised this issue in the Volkswagen service centre but they said there is no support available.

No it doesn't Sachin, it only switches on post the CAR ignition.

So I would need to pay about 3000 Rs a year for Jio SIM with Data, about the MRP of Jiomotive. Is that understanding correct. I imagine one would need sufficient data for days, when say the car may be on road for the entire day. Also, what are the alternative options in Infia?
Hi Vishal, you are right. Over and above the Jiomotive cost, you will require a running plan. 1 GB plan for the month also worked well for me. About INR 249 monthly. So 3000 approximately for the year.

@@TechTakeaway yes. In fact, that’s the reason I held back for so long before buying it. Do know any Jio Plan which is data only? No point in having calls enabled on this SIM
I have this and was provided by VW. Now I do not know how to charge it and no one has the answer to it! The one I have no sim and can’t get one!

I have this prefitted in my car. However I'm not able to access the app. Is it working these days?
Try repairing the device with IMEI number, I got that problem when I changed my phone.
@@TechTakeaway it has never worked. I was not given an imei or qr. (there is no qr on the device either). It's supposed to sign in with a registered mobile number. When I do that it tells me the device has no connectivity. The dealer says that jio is still setting up the network.

@@hardikpatel665 I got it working yesterday. In all probability the dealer didn't sign you up properly. You may have to go back to the dealer and ensure you are registered. The sales guy in my case would say the dongle is registered, but I actually had to stand there and make sure the registration was done before it started working. Second option that the tech guy said was you can try and unplug it an plug it back. It should solve most issues.

Volkswagen also provides this as pre-installed in Indian market... The app is different called my Volkswagen but eventually it has same all functions like jio.. My query is how to change the registered number on the app... I am not able to find the solution for this

@@reinercraja I found the way! You have to take your car to the volkswagen dealership to update or de-register mobile number.

For recharge I don't have any idea maybe you can get the previous plan reactivated by them but I'm not clear about it. As for me the default plan I got was for 3 years and still I'm running on it.
