I think you said it best. Some people have criticized Christopher Tin because he won a grammy for this. Yes, he didn't write the original song but what won him the award and why this song is so good is how he added the orchestra and the arrangement to complement the original song.
He’s a composer not a songwriter
This was the title song for Sid Meyer's Civilization 4.
"Baba Yetu" is a Swahili translation of the Lord's prayer (as I understand it).

When I heard this the first time, I couldn’t imagine hearing a song so epic about humanity.
When I played Civ IV for the first time as a kid I was stuck in the opening menu for 30 mins listening to this banger. 😂

Soweto Gospel choir is a South African choir. Yes most of the lion King sound tracks were inspired by south African traditional rhythms. Baba yethu is swahili lords prayer.

I would also recommend Civilization 6's title song as well. It's not quite as good as this one in my personal opinion, but it's very good. This is the lords prayer in Swahili set to music. Civ 6's title music is a poem written by Leonardo de Vinci if my memory is correct and it's set to music.
Correct. Sogno di Volare (The Dream of Flight) is a powerful song. Singing these songs with a choir is so much fun. I hope Christopher Tin keeps writing these amazing pieces!

The song is literal translation of the Lord's Prayer in SWAHILI. Abt the Lion King, it was based in Kenya and most of the characters names are Swahili. Simba for example is Lion in Swahili. Zulu is a South African culture. "The circle of life" intro is in Zulu , but the movie is Kenyan based.

This might be the best game theme song ever, honestly. I love me some Morrowind theme and others but this one is just so good.

I disagree, that film or Hollywood deserves this, in fact it does a disservice, to this genre. Games gave us the Tomb raider theme from the blessed Composer/writer, Nathan McCree. Games opened up a road to creatives that thought out of the box, that weren't tied to mainstream thought. Every industry becomes bloated and orthodox. Games gave a new freedom, that sadly has now been abused.

I have seen so many different performances of Baba Yetu, Angel City Chorale got a Golden Buzzer on AGT with this song, Maytree, a Korean a cappella group did a shortened version, which is very interesting, Alex Boye , who also appeared on AGT did Baba Yetu with, I believe a men’s choir from a Utah University, you really can’t go wrong with any version of this incredibly moving and spiritual piece.

elle fait parti de l'histoire du jeu vidéo et le jeu vidéo est tout autant un art que le cinéma
