unirrational - Ya, but it’s a paying job, and who wouldn’t want to play army all day like a little kid. Now days they just shoot up zombies on video games.
I’d prefer if my kids left the video games and went outside to run and play just like when I grew up in the ’60s-‘70s. Playing army in the neighborhood was great fun, plus I had the railroad tracks behind my house and a river and field beyond that. We had a Combat team all our very own. Everyone got shot, died, got up and kept fighting.

12malahide - This is so true.
Germeny was really a superior force and could have gone a long way but their Generals and strategists were hindered by Hitler’s lunacy.
The real German soldiers were not fighting for Hitler’s view of things but for survival and honor as a country in general.
Hitler dragged his people into something that they didn’t comprehend other than what they learned by propaganda, and they were left fighting for their own survival.
So true for any nation w/ nuts that rule.

Lt Henry,s word is right that a soldier should not push another soldier and soldiers should be pushed only by Lt Henry.
On the contrary, Korean senior soldier pushes junior soldier too much ,which is bad tradition of Japanese army ,which Americans will never understand.

Taking cover behind a wooden cart, great thinking, In a real situation the Mg 42 firing a 1000 rounds a minute would have reduced that cart to matchwood in zero nothing seconds

Opening scene - It seems like it would be better if they stayed spread out instead of all bunching up together. They outlying guys could flank the krauts and take the whole group down. That's what they do afterwards.
