    Would appreciate if you could create an in depth video on how to use the inner ring!

      Okay I will.
      But for now if this helps you, everyone who has shown how to use opus showed it wrong. (Other than the fellow tutorial on their RUclips)
      The outer ring works as a normal dial and if you use the +5 or -5 on the internal ring, you can extend the outer rings range.
      That part is simple. What people are wrong about (as I understand it and it is confusing) is that the micro adjustment ring DOES NOT MOVE THE BURRS.
      It move how far the burrs will move the NEXT time you click in the direction you want the change to happen.
      And it really only works for the first two micro clicks on either side.
      If you are trying to find the in between of a grind (say it’s somewhere between two macro numbers) you can try either one internal micro click and then a big macro click in the opposite direction OR you can move it two micro clicks and one click macro.
      I know this is basically gibberish in written form so I’ll try to make a video.

      This short has helped me try to dial in my shots. Would definitely love a more in depth one. Have been watching so many the last few weeks tryna figure it out more in depth, havent found much yet.

      @@EmileeBryant So if I understand correctly there are only two steps in between each macro step? Then how would I reach the two steps between e.g. macro step 2 and macro step 2 1/4 (2 1/12 and 2 1/6)?
      For the first step (2 1/12) you’re saying to go one micro step coarser and the one macro step coarser. The indicator will end up somewhere in between 2 and 2 1/4. For the second step (2 1/6) you’re saying to go two micro steps coarser and then one macro step FINER?? This way the indicator ends up somewhere before 2? This can’t be right, can it? Is it maybe two micro steps coarser and then two macro steps coarser?

      @@alondattner I think it is right. The smallest change on the inner adjustment is 2/3 of the smallest change on the outer ring so if you do 2 notches inside in any given direction that's 4/3 and then readjust 1 in the opposite direction you just moved 1/3rd in whatever direction you were going towards initially.
      I think though for most people that's too much information and they're better off thinking about the opus as a grinder with 41 steps outside and 1 extra step in between all of these steps accessible through moving the inner ring.

    Not necessarily a discerning espresso guy. But love my Opus 9 months in, and a latte every morning. I dialed in with the local fresh roasted beans I like, and never need to change.

    Hi! I've received my opus and lelit mara X a week ago and haven't gotten a decent shot (well, decent, yes, but not amazing). I am using 18g in 36g out with WDT tool and puck screen. I've started out at Grind setting 2.1 which took 2:30min. Then adjusted to 2.2, 2.3 and now 3 - which still takes 1 minute to pour. I am confused to why people are using a grind setting of 2.2 to get a good shot. It doesn't work out for me. Temperature on the L58E Group thermostat shows me fluctuation between 94-98°C on the lowest setting. Any advice for me?

      Hey! So every coffee will be different on the grind size.
      Also the opus is kinda tricky to dial because to the internal ring but it’s totally capable.
      If you are having 1 min shots I’d say try coarser settings.
      I did also make a video on how to make the grinder stepless, if you ever get tired of the dial system rings.

      Oh yes, I've seen that video already :) let's see if that's something I might try out in the future. Anyhow, thanks for your reply. I already tried a coarser setting and got it out in 35s. Now it's finally time for fine tuning.. until I buy new beans haha.
      All the best to you ❤

    You put it one click coarser on the inside but how was it set on the outside once you did that?

    • @EmileeBryant
      @EmileeBryant  Год назад

      If you go one micro click coarser or finer you’ll need to rotate the outer ring one click in the OPPOSITE direction for it to actually change.
      Seems counterintuitive but that’s basically the brightest caveat for this particular grinder

    can you slow it down a bit - explain further. I saw you turn the inner burr coarser seems like you pulled something with the macro adjustment. What happened there?

    • @EmileeBryant
      @EmileeBryant  Год назад +5

      Yeah!
      A lot of other channel have not gone deep on this and kinda created confusion.
      If you change the inner ring the burr have not been moved! To make the change actually happen you need to turn the macro as well.
      Do for example if you go one click finer on the micro ring it moves the dial but doesn’t move the burrs (yet) so when you make the macro adjustment it does finally move the burrs.
      So if you go 1 click finer on the inner ring , you then need to go one click finer on the macro ring and it will be 33 microns finer

    • @PolicarpioNicole
      @PolicarpioNicole Год назад

      @@EmileeBryant I've always thought moving the inner ring was doing something, isn't it moving any finer?
      thanks for showing a dialing in video though it was short. would love a full video about it - i've watched all the videos and no one is putting in the effort to show a real world scenario on how to use. Really want to buy it but confused on how to dial it in.
      still waiting for the international 220v in our country.

    • @EmileeBryant
      @EmileeBryant  Год назад +3

      @@PolicarpioNicole yes! I am actually working on that.
      I know that I saw buzz of an app being worked on but in the meantime I can certainly make a video.
      It’s moving the inner ring back on a gear when you move it and then that adds or subtracts how much your click will go when using the macro. It. Is . Very. Confusing.
      But I think why people struggle is if you move the inner ring and expect a change with out moving the outer ring… well since the burrs didn’t actually move nothing changed haha
