Lost Ollie is an under-appreciated gem and a rare win for Netflix, but seems to have flown under most people’s radars. That’s a damn shame, and one I’d like to remedy.

Man, same, though the ones that REALLY traumatized me weren't those: It was Brave Little Toaster, The Velveteen Rabbit and for some reason, Banjo the Woodpile Cat.
The first cos it was just so deeply depressing in so many parts of it, there's like an existential misery in the beginning of Brave little toaster than never goes away. The Velveteen Rabbit (the 1985 Canadian one) Just has a melancholy to it that stuck with me for no reason I can really explain. How everything good is old, run down and worn out, and how the skin horse is just falling apart.
And I have no idea why Banjo scared me, but I was terrified until I was like 18 of watching it, and I still can't shake how nervous and traumatized it makes me but there's literally no reason for that feeling.

I’m definitely going to watch this but I was curious if he’s ever heard of the film The Brave Little Toaster? It’s an earlier 2D Disney film about anthropomorphic appliances trying to find their owner. It predates toy story and it’s surprisingly dark in places. Lost Ollie gave me some of those vibes.

    3. Guess what? Toy Story itself is a rip-off of the macabre kids movie: the Brave Little Toaster; a movie that featured a scene of a sentient blender being brutally dismantled, a vacuum cleaner tries to choke on his own power cord, and a car purposefully drives himself into a trash compactor. Ironically it's still one of my childhood favorites that I go back to.

Seeing a series that's considered good, even when most people's first initial thought would be to compare it to another movie with similar tropes (the lost toys finding their owners one), is inspiring for me! I've had this idea for a story that I've been thinking of making into a Webtoon (or more likely, a comicbook zine since I'm usually nervous to post artwork online/in some social media places, and hesitant to get it out there beyond a small audience).
I had been struggling with the story because I didn't want it to be too derivative of Finding Nemo due to it featuring deep-sea creatures, but seeing things like Lost Ollie doing well helps encourage me to continue working on it (especially since it's technically my first full story, along with some other short story/vignette ideas I have in mind). ^^

To me, this show went far into infinity, and beyond what even Toy Story did. I love the power, soul, and love that was carefully put into the characters, the story, and oh goodness THE MUSIC! (Yes, the music was one of my favorite parts of the series.) You really feel the significance of Ollie’s memories right along with him, Zozo’s inner and outward anguish after losing the love of his life, the tragedy and terror Rosie experiences as she watches her friend become more villainous, and the pain, joy, dread, and hope Billy and his family embark together as they face the inevitably of the mom’s death. A shockingly mature, gentle, wholesome exploration of healing and whimsy ❤️‍🩹🥹

Now, lets say, hypothetically, that somebody once told me that the world would proceed to roll me, and made the claim that I was not, the smartest tool in the shed. Which would lead us to look at the facts and see that she was looking kind of dumb, due to the fact that she had placed her finger and her thumb, in the shape of the letter L, located on her forehead.
This would mean that the years would start coming, and logically wont stop coming, that I was, hypothetically, fed to the rules, which would proceed with me hitting the ground running. Which didn’t make sense, to live for fun, in a way that your brain gets smart, yet your head gets dumb, seeing as there’s so much to do, and so much to see, so now I must pose the question, what is wrong with taking the backseat? This is due to the fact that you’ll never know if you don’t go, nor you will shine if you don’t glow.
For you see, you are, at this moment, an All-Star, so get your game on, and proceed to go play, indeed, you’re an All-Star, get the show on, which would entitled you to get paid. That would mean that all that glitters, is indeed gold, and that only shooting stars, can participate in the process of breaking the mold.

2:10 "but the good stuff is there, you just have to rummage around a bit to find it."
that's why I watch reviewers first. I have no time, patience or will (or money) to rummage around for good shows. and in the process, I end up preferring the reviewers than the material being reviewed. so I only watch reviewers ranting or raving about stuff, and I flat out skip everything else.

I disagree that explaining the logistics of who can see the toys and who can't would've made the series better because I think that would've somewhat destroyed the vibe of the series. Imo ollie works best as a representation of billie's childhood and relationship to his mother first and character second. It's never 100% clear how much of the story is literally happening and how much of it is more metaphorical and i think those 'inconsistencies' add to that.
Another interpretation would be that ollie is connected to billie's family and so only members of his family can see him.

The world would be better if we lived in a society where lactating women could get jobs selling their breast milk as an alternative to cow milk. Just think about it, human breast milk is healthier for humans than cows milk, and we could reduce the amount of cows in factory farms; reduce the amount of cows in general, which would reduce the amount of methane going into the atmosphere and have less of an affect on climate change. Women could unionize to have good working conditions with decent pay and benefits, which would actually make the milk taste better if they were under less stress. Although it will be mandatory to be drug free, and maybe have regular drug tests to insure the quality of milk, that might actually motivate struggling women to quit drugs and get off the streets by selling breast milk. Women with hyperlactation would have an outlet for their excess milk production and be compensated for all the milk they sell, while women who under produce could easily buy the amount of breast milk they need from the grocery store. Just imagine having an omelet, cheesy pasta, or chocolate milk but made with human breast milk; that would be pretty wild by todays standards. The only downside is that drinking breast milk would be normalized and no one would masturbate to the idea of drinking from lactating titties, because that is indeed a problem and everyone totally masturbates to lactating titties. Don't turn this into a copy pasta or I will ejaculate into your nightmares; I am like Freddy Krueger, but horny, and I would totally fill your dreams with spermy wormies.

From Kentucky here. Can confirm that while there are multiple accents within the state itself, the young boy in the clip is the closest to being most authentic. That clown is a damn Texas accent if I have ever heard one.

Regarding the accents. The region they're in suggests that they would have an Appalachian accent, which, broadly, means they would talk a bit slower, and use some occasional archaic language in their day to day (think "afeared" instead of "afraid". for example). The people talking are doing so with accents more suited to the deep South, or midwest (the clowns use of "pardner", for example, is very much a Texas thing). It is very much a regional thing, but I imagine it's like a show taking place in London where everyone sounds like they're about to start their BBC news segment.
Also, please more positive content. thx

Chess hasn't been updated in almost 200 years and it's obvious the devs have abandoned it. The greedy creators took your money and laughed all the way to the bank.
I remember back in 705 AD when chess was fun. Then they started adding stupid features no one wanted like "Castling" and "En Passant" instead of listening to player feedback and fixing game-breaking bugs. I've been complaining for YEARS about the collision-detection glitch with the horsey. The "clipping-thru-pieces" bug has been abused to death and the lazy devs refuse to fix it.
Don't support this awful behaviour and boycott this company.

So I was playing chess with my BLACK friend the other day and something rather curious happened. As we were about to start playing he asked, “Could I play as white this time?” Why is my BLACK friend being so racist????? Clearly your color doesn’t matter and as privileged white man myself I could not bear listening to these words!!!!!! Black? White? It’s all the same guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • @Kernwadi
      @Kernwadi Год назад +2

Every time I hear a chess player talk about race, they always say stuff like “I’m so glad that I am white this game” or “He was black, so he didn’t stand much of a chance that game”. Seriously, what is up with this blatant racism guys??? It’s getting so bad I am even hearing this sort of shit from some Indian players as well. Your color doesn’t mean anything, you are still the same person!!!!!!

    *SPOILER ALERT!!*
The only "complaint" I have is they didn't have to make Zozo evil to make the themes still work. When Ollie tells him what happened to Nina on the street Zozo could have broken down and realized how far gone he was. Then he could have helped Ollie has a recompense for what he had done and as a way to still love that part of Nina that remained.
