I have the SZ. The great thing about the SZ (as opposed to the newer SZ2) is that the SZ works with both Serato and Rekordbox. I use Serato DJ Pro and have jammed at a gig with my pal who uses Rekordbox and we were both plugged in at the same time. The SZ2 does not allow this. The size is cumbersome but that is a non-issue considering the better quality and better sound card on the SZ.
I have the sb2 ....when I started djing in the house...and I'm getting the sx2 this week I'm so excited to get it I'm use the sb2 as my emergency kit now as u said that I was going to sale it or give it to my step daughter to use it thanks for the video it was great
I'm still in agreement 💯! I had a SX3 before I sprung for the SZ2 back in 2019. I can pretty much get whatever I want when it comes to these purchases (Not Bragging just being realistic for anyone who may be still thinking about getting a used SZ2) I tried out the 1000 SRT which is the DDJ 1000 for RBX as well and they didn't and still don't feel as stable as the S zed 2 or SZ2. It does everything still that the latest and greatest XZ does except having the screen to be a stand alone. Which I don't mind. I run big screens at home and on the go I have a 26 inch I set up. I wouldn't use the screen on the XZ so I'm still rocking with the SZ2. Cheers everyone
Thank you for that nice video comparing both Pioneer Controllers. I currently have the SX, but was thinking about upgrading to the SZ2. I'm a mobile DJ and I definitely need to have the least weight possible when it comes to my equipment and transporting it. This video definitely helped me a lot on my decision. Thanks once again!
Lexxther that's how I felt for the longest. And your instincts are correct. The SZ2 is definitely less practical than the SX. Especially for mobile DJs.
6 years later I still feel the SZ2 checks all the boxes for me, every other controller looks like a toy next to it, it’s well built and definitely fells and looks like pro gear.
Thats how I felt when I got my SZ2 .. the feel in the quality is so much better. It was basically me getting two CDJs and a DJM for 2k in my mind. I just didn't need the actual CD input! I also have pretty big hands also... so the jog wheel and pads were actually a plus. My SX2 had wheels on the case.. Gator puts wheels on most of their cases
Lorenz Kroneisl the quality is so much more better .. it honestly is worth it in my opinion! The additional laptop.. the cdj jog wheel.. the on board fx... I love it !
I just bought a mint condition SZ2 and the build quality is way better than any controller pioneer has made after it these past 6 years. I prefer SZ2 over any pioneer controller currently. The only controller worth getting today is the Rev-7 which I own as well and use. But pioneer doesn’t have the same quality professional build with all their new products being pushed out now, the items all feel cheap and plastic. SZ2 was built to last literally
I have the SX for 5 years and I never had no problems.. it pretty much has all the tools to get the job done so it's no point for me to buy new unit unless it breaks.. good video bro
Great review thank you big up from London Uk.. i think i will wait & see if after a while pioneer opens up the ddj 1000 to serato, & even if they dont i might just start using the not perfect yet rekordbox as i imagine in time rekordbox should catch up ,I keep hearing & reading the sz is so heavy but djs do love it.. i already got full platinum set up of cdjs nexus 1s & 900 nexus & rmx1000,
I just brought Pioneer DDJ -SZ2 . What software you use ? Serato or virtual dj ? You need to check out virtual dj 2021 . Check out stems on virtual dj.
Im about to buy an sx at q pawn shop for $381 with the flight case, only thing is it doesnt have a power suppy, where can i get one, and do you k ow if i need a license ket to open serato or does it unlock automatically with the controller?
Hola Daniel, a used SX is more professional and gives you more inputs, outputs, microphones and uses Serato DJ. The DDJ-400 is newer, smaller, lighter, less inputs, and I believe it only uses Rekordbox DJ. I prefer the SX
Jadesada Tandozeus there are several things about the SZ2 that are different. Everything about the SZ2 is bigger, can use 2 laptops, dedicated microphone channels, oscillators, filter faders, many more.
Lee Mesidor I have some wicked Sound Effects on my Samsung Tablet from the Google Play Store, how do you recommend I know hook my Tablet with this DJ Controller?
Bro, I've got the ddj sx but it's the four channel and I can't find it anywhere, I can only find the 4 chan SX2 or SZ, can you advise me on what model I've got, ( it just says ddj-sx )
Ohhh, ok. Well the original SX has been discontinued since they now have to SX3 and DDJ-1000 out. You can probably find an original SX on eBay or Reverb. Good luck my man.
I'm looking to buy a DJ Controller, but I can't make up my mind. I noticed there is a new DDJ SX3, however the SX3 does not have extra features the SZ2 has. What do you recommend I should get. Considering the SX3 is new and was just released, would the SX3 be better than buying the SZ2 or is the SZ2 better than the SX3. (I'm new at this, so it would be my first DJ controller, however, I want something decent where I don't want to keep upgrading) - Thanks.
Thank you for your reply. I appreciate that. I have decided to go for the DDJ 1000. I have been reading many reviews and a lot of people say that the DDJ 1000 are way better than the SX3. Although I wish Pioneer would have kept Serato with the 1000s, but I guess Rekordbox is similar to Serato.
This is DJ-Mister-C great job on this video is showing the difference in functionality and size for transportability and setup for your system ...
could listen to you for hours,
great job
Great video highlighting some of the differences others haven’t covered in their videos! Thanks for sharing
Thanks!

Interesting. I didn't know that about the SZ

Great plan. You will be happy with that choice.

Yes but all and all for what you can do and bring to your performances the SZ2 totally kicks the SX3s ass all the way around.
6 years later I still feel the SZ2 checks all the boxes for me, every other controller looks like a toy next to it, it’s well built and definitely fells and looks like pro gear.
What year did the Ddj sx come out?
what year did the sz2 come out and whats the price today? is it worth it?

TOOHEAVY the DJ so the upgrade from the sx is really worth it? Thinkin about it atm..
Lorenz Kroneisl the quality is so much more better .. it honestly is worth it in my opinion! The additional laptop.. the cdj jog wheel.. the on board fx... I love it !
TOOHEAVY the DJ alright i got a pretty good offer.. a sz for 750€. I‘m seriously thinking about it right now.
Lorenz Krone I know this reply is a year late but if that SZ is still available for that price get it! It’s a steal!

Thanks for the review man, this is so usefull, love the humur, all the way from Namibia
Cheers, the closest I've been was South Africa twice.
I have the SX for 5 years and I never had no problems.. it pretty much has all the tools to get the job done so it's no point for me to buy new unit unless it breaks.. good video bro
DjLalo kc. cerritos thanks bro!
Im an sx owner too but damn man the sz feels so much more pro and the jog wheels are way better however its way too big as a controller
Great video I'm going to pick up sz2 now
The DDJ-SZ2 Ais my favourite 1

Whew, you've got some heavy duty hardware already.
Nice review!!
I love my SZ2

OK, will do!
Regarding changing out the trim knobs at aroun 13:35, is that hard to do? any special tools or do they just pop off?
I found it CHROMA CAPS - THANKS!
You also forgot to mention the SZ2 soundcard is waaay better than the sx shitty soundcard
Great comparison.
Im about to buy an sx at q pawn shop for $381 with the flight case, only thing is it doesnt have a power suppy, where can i get one, and do you k ow if i need a license ket to open serato or does it unlock automatically with the controller?
Congratulations. Make sure they power it up and let you test it out AT THE STORE. It's a great unit if it works. You can get a new plug on Amazon.
@@djhd3000 how is you sx holding up after all these years is it still working flawlessly?
@@youngflyfella man, I sold mine years ago. But it was fantastic! I now use the DDJ 100 SRT but got a DDJ-SZ2 for sale.
How much are you asking for your ddj sz2.
Where are you located?
@@DJPacha.Bolivia $1300. Includes case. Mint condition
Did ever check out virtual dj 2020 ?
Nice review! Also. FINS UP!!!I saw your trashcan haha
Do you still have it? Are you selling the controller?
Still have it. I decided not to sell it anymore.
Hi which one do you prefer a DDJ-SX(USED) OR AN DDJ-400 (NEW)? hello from mexico!
Hola Daniel, a used SX is more professional and gives you more inputs, outputs, microphones and uses Serato DJ. The DDJ-400 is newer, smaller, lighter, less inputs, and I believe it only uses Rekordbox DJ. I prefer the SX

A SZ2 é mais top demais ai👏👏☺
Hey brother. Thoughts on the SZ(1)? Price is 600 in 2022. Good quality
Hey bro, are you selling one or buying one?
@@djhd3000 buying
Ok, that's a great deal! Go for it!
Sz2🥰
I just brought the pioneer ddj-sz2 what software you use ? Serato or virtual dj?
I use Serato. BUT VDJ is an awesome software too.
CAN I HAVE ONE OFF THIS THE DDJ SX
Which is better the sx3 or the sz2
SZ2 by far. In my opinion, the only advantage of the SX3 is that it has 3 microphones.
So SX2 or SZ2 ?? Those are similar ..?? What so apecial about those SZ2??
Jadesada Tandozeus there are several things about the SZ2 that are different. Everything about the SZ2 is bigger, can use 2 laptops, dedicated microphone channels, oscillators, filter faders, many more.
Which is better, the DDJ SZ2 or the DDJ RZ?
I'm a Serato DJ user so I like the SZ2
@@djhd3000 So there is no difference in audio quality and effects between the SZ2 and the RZ, what changes is only the software that controls it?
@@garner_dj exactly. It's essentially the same hardware otherwise. If you use Rekordbox then you can either get the SZ1 (which plays both) or the RZ
@@djhd3000 Thank you very much for the clarification and for your attention. Success!!
The ddj sz2 is better for me but I can’t afford it
SZ1 then?
is the sx for sale
zookeepah Bennett already sold it.
Lee Mesidor I have some wicked Sound Effects on my Samsung Tablet from the Google Play Store, how do you recommend I know
hook my Tablet with this DJ Controller?
Lee Mesidor Excuse the grammar
No worries my man. You definitely will need a laptop with a USB port. Also, that tablet will need to be able to run the SZ driver.
Bro, I've got the ddj sx but it's the four channel and I can't find it anywhere, I can only find the 4 chan SX2 or SZ, can you advise me on what model I've got, ( it just says ddj-sx )
If you have a 2 channel then it is probably a Pioneer DDJ-SR or the smaller DDJ-SB. The DDJ-SX definitely has 4 up-faders.
@@djhd3000 it's the 4 channel bro, but anytime I type in ddj sx it's only the sx2 I can find with 4 channels. 👍🏻 thanks for the reply

Super loud. You will have to turn em down

one two I would definitely recommend the SX3. In some ways it is better equipped than the SZ2. My second choice would probably be the DDJ-1000.

Don't buy the SX3! There is a problem with the features versus the SX2!
I'm DJ Norm HD lol
sz2 is better.Rzx is the king.sx very simple
