  • Its topwater time!! Who's ready?! Popper, buzzbait, whopper plopper, walking baits, wakebaits... Fall is awesome! If you're as pumped up as we are its time to get serious about topwater fishing! Fall bass fishing is just around the corner, the baitfish will be schooling in the shallows, and its time to get your equipment dialed in. From insane underwater footage, to favorite baits, to rigging tricks, we're about to talk all things TOPWATER...
As Fall approaches the topwater bite will get better and better. Best of all, BIG bass are heading into the shallows again. If you're tired of the Summer doldrums and want to catch bigger bass this Fall, topwater is going to help you do it. Understanding when to throw topwater, how to select the right gear, and knowing which lures offer you the best chance at success, is what this video is all about.
Matt and Tim use a variety of lures to accomplish their goals. One day you might see them throwing a giant wakebait, the next morning it could be a little popper. How do they make those decisions and how can you do the same? It all comes down to understanding what the bass are eating. Matching the SIZE of the baitfish is critical to success throughout the coming months. In this video covers a ton of different lures in a variety of sizes to help you prepare for every situation. We don't expect you to remember it all so below is a breakdown of the exact lures and gear Matt discussed (in order of appearance).

Matt and Tim are awesome and very educational when it comes to fishing. I live in Canada, where it's a little different, but I've added most of the information into my fishing arsenal and it works. Roland Martin is my idol when it comes to bass fishing, he's a legend, but I watch you guys to know what to throw and when and even different techniques. Thanks for all the information, I've definitely become a better angler and more knowledgeable thanks to you and others on RUclips. 🤘

@@tacticalbassin there is no need to thank me don't get me wrong I m blessed and humbled that yall took the time out of y'alls busy schedules to even acknowledge me .but it's the truth in the name of jesus every word he gave me to speak.so therefore I don't deserve a thank you it's to him that I give all the glory and praise to. I n the name of jesus it would be a great honor not only to be able to meet the both of but it would be a true blessing from god if I could ever get the chance to meet you both .I'm a disabled spec ops retired veteran. And it's a chore just to be able to get up out of bed some days and walk .and it hinders my abilities to try and go out and pursue my passion for fishing. So yall have to understand the first 17 years of my military career I spent the majority in a desert. And now I have to pray hard just to be able to get the strength up so I can go out on what I call mine and gods lake which Is the only lake out of the seven private lakes in my subdivision. And it's where I go to church and when satan's demonic spirit called PTSD trys to steal kill and robb me of my faith. I don't have the money to be able to go out and purchase any of the lures that I see in y'alls videos but I still watch and learn all I can from mostly Matt .because I know that in gods time I will get all of the blessings have stolen from me by satan will be returned to me not a hundred fold but a thousand fold and that's gods promise. So therefore I love yall in the name of jesus. If you and matt ever come through SOUTHEAST Texas let's say if yall ever fish sam Rayburn a nd end up coming through a town called Livingston Texas give me a call or text me at area code (936) 933-3824. It would be a true honor and a blessing to maybe get a chance to go out fishing with you matt. And maybe get to be in one of your videos. Heck I'm 53 I've accomplished and I've been in every country on gods earth more than once . But I would consider fishing with matt the highlight of my life. I thank you jesus for the both of you and tactical bassin. In the name of jesus be safe out there doing what yall love and thank you for the response back. God bless from SOUTHEAST Texas.

Matt, you are the Bill Dance, Roland Martin, Jimmy Houston of the younger generation!
I’m waiting for the Saturday morning TacticalBassin television show on ESPN right before College GameDay.
I love the Heddon One Knocker Spook. That deep tungsten thump drives em crazy!
Definitely going to pick up a Chug’n Spook and add it to my arsenal.
    Great job as always, brother👊🏻😎

Honestly a popper is one of my fav all around summer baits. Even in the heat if the fish are cruising up shallow I’ve thrown a popper, but I work it so every time I pop it I wait for the ripples to disappear, and I've gotten some huge fish despite the blazing sun. I also throw it on top of submerged tree cause the loud pop gets their attention then it sits there, then on the next pop they usually hit it

Here in DE summer grass starts dying about mid September, I use a fluke of swim jig over Topwater just because those fish have been seeing these baits since April/March around here. Not as fun but gets bit much better than Topwater in my opinion

This one will surprise you Matt but I just caught my PB on it and have been killing it here in Wisconsin over the past few weeks. Just out of curiosity I ordered some top water walking baits off of the Wish app. I was incredibly surprised by how well they walk and the amazing sound that they have. For me they have been a fish catching machine. I know it’s Wish but all you have to do is upgrade the split rings and hooks.

Add a bobber stop to the front of your walking baits with straight braid, and you won't need the mono leader anymore. I do this with all of my topwaters now and it keeps the line out of the buzzbait blade, the treble hooks, etc.

Today was my first day ever learning how to use a walking bait, was using a lucky craft gunfish ghost minnow...caught a 6pounder. After I figured out how to walk the lure I threw it into a ball of baitfish i seen from the bank, I was walking it n seen a big shadow chasing it and I was only about a few feet from the shore so I paused it the bass sat and looked at it...I gave it a twitch a boom she went airborne on it. So exciting, I cant wait to try some more walking baits

I know it’s a bit early but I had a nasty topwater bite on table rock last weekend. I was on a huge school of bass chasing shad. It was the most aggressive feeding I’ve ever seen 15 bass at a time would come up and explode in shad!

You gotta try a 4.8 or 5.8 Keitech on a vmc drop dead keel weighted hook...awesome top water when there's still a bit of grass on top. Hold your rod tip up high. Nice subtle gurgle. Sometimes the fish want that over a more violent whopper kind of sound. Plus you have the option to drop it down and go deep or sub surface or any depth you want and then bring it back up and go tap water again. Truly versatile
