Thanking someone for being considerate, even if he shouldn't have been smoking to begin with, is the best way to ensure he will keep doing the right thing. You haven't met my cats, then. Yes, they're definitely more self sufficient than most animals. But my first cat, Midnight, and my current cat, Sierra, have been my shadows. Sierra will literally violently demand my attention. (Midnight was the most tolerant and loyal animal I ever met. Sierra has her moments, but she's overall a sweetheart.) To get back on topic, I'm not sure the cats were a deliberate part of her argument, if that makes sense. Like she was just listing things they shared responsibilities for, and/or how their lives are intertwined.

Re contact order, if you don't want your spouse arrested etc don't call the cops. Cops are not relationship counselors. If she is now changing her story about what happened charge her for filing false police reports. When it's a DV case then the defendant should not be allowed to be alone with children.

They often don't call. A neighbor hears the fight, or someone witnesses the violence and call the police for the victim. And many states have a law that if they get called out for a domestic, they have to arrest at least one of the parties. Unless its an incredibly obvious misunderstanding, they can't leave empty handed (or with empty handcuffs)

He will be back if he keeps this kind of attitude going in his life...smh 2nd case: If you pull a knife that is a threat, she felt threatened at the time but he didn't threaten her???? Oh please she's an enabler and wants his continued "support" but his support seems to include using knives to threaten... make it make sense...I hope CPS is involved.
