Thank you for highlighting Detroit in a positive light. I was born and raised in Detroit and still live here. There is no other place I’d move to and be as happy as I am here at home. Detroit is a growing city and very family oriented with a lot of friendly folks. We all all one big family.
So glad to see such a positive view of Detroit. So tired of hearing Detroit being bashed. Detroit has so much to offer including their great historical achievements, beautiful architecture, fantastic waterfront and so much more. The city is rebounding. Not a Detroiter but a Canadian who lives across the river. Great city and great people. Thanks for this.
Interesting getting this perspective from an outsider. I was born and raised in Detroit. I was a bit apprehensive about people coming to the city from other places but watching videos like yours has changed my POV a bit. Hope you continue to dig our city...👍
I'm visiting Detroit from Oakland next month. I've been fascinated with the city for awhile and decided to finally see if it was a fit. I'm super excited
I really liked your video, very positive I live here in Detroit all my life 40+ yrs and I could not have expressed it better on how it is to really live here ( the people and the feel of city and it's surrounding areas). I hope your videos bring more people here to see how it is to live and work . I wish you the best of success
Mind your Society actuality I so appreciate this video. I am looking to relocate quite soon to Detroit. You spoke my thoughts in this video. Many blessings to you.
Mind your Society yes I did. It made me feel much more confident in my choice to relocate. Trust me I’ve been researching and applying for jobs out there. However I know the reality is I need to get myself over there soon. I’m so excited 😊🙏🏼
Mind your Society thank you so much 😊 literally your point of view is what I’ve trying to hear. You mentioned Canada, yayyy, I shall be exploring too. All the other videos is why some shouldn’t move here or like you said showing all the abandoned properties. I’m in the Bronx and I love in the urban part of the suburbs or want to be suburbia.
thank you for this video, detroit has such a powerful history -- it feels like magic there. hoping to move soon and join the incredible communities there
I’m in college right now studying sociology and I’m hoping to get into social work or Human Resources. Your video was so eye opening and informative I’m seriously thinking about moving away after college because New York is so expensive.
Absolutely adorable young lady ... Hope you continue to ENJOY YOUR TIME WHILE HERE And thanks for spreading your positive experience though this platform .
We just bought a fixer upper in Detroit but live in California. Planning to move soon. I really hate to leave this weather and family but it’s so expensive here.
Many people move here for that same exact reason. I had the choice to move to other large cities, such as LA and NYC but chose here and I’m glad I did. I can do more with less here.
Zanda Williams I don’t go to clubs often but when I rarely do I always have a good time. I like lounges and music venues more, which Detroit has a lot of good ones; Johnny’s, Cliffbells, The Griot, El Club, Motor City Wine Bar to name a few!
Thanks for this vid. Currently reside in west Michigan looking forward to residing in Detroit or the near outskirts. Any suggestions?.. I need this change
I will be moving to Midtown in a few months by Woodward ave. How do you like it? safety, going out, restaurants, groceries, normal day to day stuff? Thank you!!
eddygomez91 midtown is very walkable. And you will be near the Qline so it will be easy for you to get downtown. A lot to do around there too. Overall I do like Detroit because of what I mentioned in the video. I don’t really go out at night much but I know there are some places downtown, midtown, and in the suburbs. Many restaurants popping up. There aren’t nearly as many grocery stores as needed, but you will find a way to manage. I have a playlist of videos on living in Detroit that can hopefully help you get a jist of day to day! I hope they are helpful !
I'm seriously considering moving to Detriot. I'm living in Denver but I want to leave and Detriot is one of the City that I'm looking into. Which areas are pretty safe that I can rent an one-bedroom apartment for around $950/month?
hearing a lot about Detroit. I'm in Chicago...How is the city for a 27 year old black artist and veteran. I have a production company (photography/video) and I'm looking to rebrand and relocate to a new scenery how is the art scene up there. Plus I don't want to leave my Chicago connections just want to get out the city and its getting really expensive here in Chicago.
NICE VIDEO BUD. THIS IS GOOD INFORMATION. IT IS INTERESTING I GREW UP RIGHT DOWN THE STREET IN TOLEDO, BUT I NEVER EXPLORED MUCH OF DETROIT EXCEPT THE AIRPORT AND WE WENT SHOPPING A FEW TIMES. NOW ON A FUNNY NOTE I HAVE BEEN SEEING YOU ROCK THESE CUTE SHORT SLEEVE SHIRTS. THIS IS JUST FOR FILMING RIGHT? BECAUSE IT IS COLD THAT WAY. 😂🤣 OH AND STERLING IS TOO CUTE!
ASH KENYAIL I’m glad you were able to explore when you came to visit! Haha! I wear sweaters over the short sleeve shirts when outside. I’m staying warm, mama Ashley! 🤣
Hi Gab good to see you back and was wondering where you settled in at. I visited Detroit and found it cool maybe not the best food but i enjoyed DTown😜.
@@MindyourSociety ok cool i really enjoyed it especially that i think it's the River walk where you can look over and see Canada 👍🏼👍🏼.. It was this barbecue place that had great reviews but i didn't enjoy it that much. I plan to visit again because i enjoy short road trips it's not far from Chicago!!
@@MindyourSociety that is very true and if you don't mind I'll shoot you my email because I know I'll be back there soon. I travel often but haven't used my passport yet😔..It's regbizz@yahoo.com!!
@@MindyourSociety so Gabs be brutally honest with me because i respect your opinion. I've thought about relocating to Arizona because it's so scenic and just a different vibe. What are your opinions about the state? I don't like they were the last state to honor MLKs birthday 🤔
@@regvibe835 hmm! i don't really know much about Arizona honestly. I've been once for a short time to Arizona. I loved the weather. Dry heat is my preference. There is a high population of Mexican Americans but I don't recall seeing many black people at all. If you move there, make videos about it! Lol. Have you seen this video yet? I like it. The RUclipsr has a whole channel dedicated to living in Arizona: ruclips.net/video/op3yy2lbhXA/видео.html
Thank you for making this video! I am looking into different cities to decide where I would like to move to after I complete my teaching certification. What areas would you recommend as safe for a single woman to live? I’m currently in downtown Philly, and have lived in Brooklyn, if that helps you to gauge my city-life experience.
Zanda Williams I like both cities but Detroit is home for me. People are more warm and connected here. In Chicago I had a hard time connecting with many people. They kind of stuck with who they knew. In Detroit, people pull you in and basically claim you as their own family! It’s just different. But Chicago wins with transportation. You almost always need a car in Detroit which to me, sucks. But all in all, Detroit wins. Cost of living, people, culture, safety (yes I feel safer here)
Heavily considering moving to Detroit. It sits along my career/wealth line astrologicaly..seems a little risky but attracted by the music scene and lower cost of living to Hawaii.
Thank you! I’d highly recommend a car, unless you live and work downtown , and don’t mind uber, biking, walking, etc. public transport isn’t always reliable, unfortunately.
I’ve been to Detroit many times and always love it. The people are friendly. There are lots of things to do. And it is beautiful a lot of the year, no matter the season. I also found there were a ton of potholes, the houses were burnt out, and people at the airport were grumpy. I like your point about not compromising on other things you want just because you could have nice weather year round.
Downtown Detroit has a lot of things to do with great restaurants and tourist attractions. However the city has extreme poverty and vacant homes everywhere. Great culture and food but downtown Detroit and outside of downtown are two different worlds
You guys always have to make everything about race no one cares we are all children of god we just look different on the outside. We all have the same body parts and bones just didn’t color racism is not everywhere. Some places maybe more than others but now days it’s not that much racism anywhere tbh. And if someone is racist they just look stupid. It gets annoying and old when all people do now is make everything about race.
