Thank you so much for taking the time to comment; I found Charity Dock a fascinating place to cruise past, but perhaps if I lived close by, I might look at it differently. Have a lovely rest of the week.🌻🦋
It is wonderful how our restored canals are providing a hugely valuable site for wildlife. People nice contained on narrow boats are not such a threat as those tramping the undergrowth down and wandering all over the place. You have got the best of both worlds and I greatly appreciate that you are kind enough to share it with us. A big thanks.
It is a pleasure to share the vlogs with viewers like you who seem to really appreciate them. Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Have a super week, take care🦋🌻

Hi Vanessa, as my short term memory is getting poorer with age, l decided to have try at your journaling which l love on your videos. Thank you so much for recommending this activity, l really enjoyed having a go. Best wishes Colin .
Colin, that is brilliant to hear! There are three questions that you can ask yourself as you observe: What do I notice? What do I wonder and what does it remind me of? I find they really help me watch nature without being worried about what I don't know about it. I used to think I couldn't do it as I didn't know enough and couldn't draw well enough but those 3 questions gave me the confidence to try and I am so glad that I did. I hope you continue to enjoy keeping a nature journal too! Take care.🦋🌻🎨
@@themindfulnarrowboat, thank you for those useful tips Vanessa, very kind of you to take the time to message me. Safe journeys to you wherever you are off to next . I always look forward to your fabulous videos.
I honestly can't remember the last time I saw a thrush, mistle or otherwise. Great title btw! I don't know if you've been asked this, but have you ever thought of publishing your beautiful art & poetry? Maybe random pages as calendar?
Hi Jeff, that is the first mistle thrush of the year for me and I couldn’t quite believe how big it was! I haven’t seen any song thrush this year though. Thank you for your kind words about my journal; I have recently thought about doing something with it but I wasn’t sure it would be good enough. A calendar is an excellent idea! Have a sunny weekend!🌻🦋🌞

Lovely video, thanks for sharing. During our walk along the Coventry Canal in March 1999, as part of the Centenary Way, we passed along the section from Gypsy Lane Bridge to Hawkesbury Junction. A particularly memorable aspect of this leg of the journey was the woodland section preceding the Junction, on the eastern side of the canal. It was there that we were fortunate to observe a large congregation of both male and female Bullfinches. All the best, Peter.
Well, I am so pleased that my vlog made you feel relaxed and also that you have subscribed! Welcome to the channel, Orchid House; it's lovely to have you onboard. Thank you for your kind comment. Have a wonderful weekend.🦋🌻
Oh what a lovely vlog. Loved the thrush haven’t seen one of them for years. The scenery is stunning and the frost gorgeous. I love bright frosty mornings. All wonderful.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment, Sandy! I was so pleased to see the thrush because like you said, I just haven’t seen any for a while either. 😢 Have a sunny weekend!🌻🦋🌞
I managed to film one of the most amazing sunrises in that frost. Can't wait to show it but I'm way behind. Anyway enough about me. Ashby canal is so peaceful and rural. Beautiful place. Towpaths terrible I'm afraid. Lovely shots of the frost. Very nice garden Mrs mindful should look amazing in spring. Have a lovely weekend.
I will look forward to those amazing sunrises in the frost. This is the thing about life on the water, there are so many beautiful changes in light and colour out of every single window. What a very relaxing journey on the brown coloured water with those beautiful shots of the sun shining through the trees, how a drop in temperature can change the plants to give them a sugar icing covering look. I agree Peter. When other boat tuber vlogs wonder aloud what that animal or bird or tree is before them, my wife and I say (almost in unison) that Vanessa would know. On these dreary cold days just go back and watch all of the offerings in this catalogue. Simply wonderful!
wow what a shot of the Buzzard on the ground, that's the first time i've ever seen one on the ground and not flying, that's a rare sight to catch one resting at ground level

Vanessa, My wife and I marvel at your poetry. It's the highlight of our week! I read a book in the mid 1990's titled Deadline Poet by Calvin Trillin. He was an American political humorist that wrote a weekly satirical piece for The Nation. It was very funny. In a large way, it reminds me of you. Here you live your life as a continuous cruiser, you teach, and yet you find the time to assemble and film and edit to create this wonderful vlog each week. All of that plus you write this marvelously appropriate poem. And Mr. Trillin only had to write a political satire poem, and he likely had a staff. I'd say that it is you, Vanessa, who are the true Deadline Poet.
What a lovely comment, John. I shall look Calvin Trillin up now and read some of his poetry. Having staff on a narrowboat would be interesting wouldn't it?😂 Since September, I have had more time than I had previously to work on the vlogs as the company that I had most of my teaching tied up in and my book contract, went bust. I was gutted at first, but now I have a small amount of students and I am looking for more. I can't complain though as I have more time to look at moss ( my new obsession) and create the videos ( which I love doing)! Take care🌻🦋

That's 4 of your videos watched now and all wonderful. Viewed the one with the "Edwardian Lady" diaries which I also have. Love your drawings and journal. I like to draw and also write in ink (fountain pen). I've had those same Windsor and Newton inks for years but never used them. Do you have to use a pen and ink well or do you use a fountain pen? I left a first comment on another of your videos and they am finding them therapeutic, informative and just beautiful. Your content of wildlife, art, poetry, writing and of course narrow boat life is unique. Easily the most enjoyable of the many narrowboat vlogs. Your kind and sincere style is a joy. You even have a delightful doggie! Best wishes from a new fan.
Thank you so much mdcs1992 for your lovely comment. It’s great to know that you have the Diary of an Edwardian Lady too, what a beautiful book!
