I was there, too! I loved the overall mood and size of this show. I bought a vintage Parker mechanical pencil from Writers Shoppe! Thank you for sharing your experience.
@@alexanderwrites_ a mechanical pencil is a great way to get of some vintage material without the vintage cost (or fillers). The one I have takes a 1.1 lead which is can be ordered online. I love it so far!
This show was my wife and my first pen show as well! We enjoyed it immensely. I did clearly pick up a bunch of Traveler's Company stuff including the new Blackwing colab cover. One of my suggestions is to not sleep on the classes. Ours was in writing and was really good. Have a great trip to Ireland.
I enjoyed your video. I remember my first pen show. The first pen that captured my eyes, was a Visconti. I very carefully placed it back down when I was told the price. Those notebooks that looked like childrens' books, were cute. For a minute, I thought Powell's had a table! I also like Travelers products. I have the Tokyo special edition coming to me in August.
I am thinking of going to the Orlando show in September. Having never been to a show before, I really don’t know what to expect. Are pens, inks, and paper cheaper at shows - or is it only the “so much in one place” that is the draw? When you consider that everything you could ever want is on Amazon, are things going to be cheaper - or perhaps even more expensive? Any advice from anyone who knows more than me would be very appreciated!
Thanks for the question! There’s definitely a lot screaming at you when you visit a pen show. What I found in my experience was a mix of both. Inks tended to be cheaper at show versus online but I always did a price comparison before making a purchase. I found the Travelers Company both to be cheaper than online but you’re also not paying shipping and handling fees. I recommend doing that whenever purchasing something. I will say, pens tended to be super expensive but that’s because their value is determined by those who purchase them. Hopefully this helps! Supporting local venders even if prices are slightly higher is always something I try to do!
I would love to attend a Pen Show someday! I have seen a lot of RUclipsrs that give advice and tips, so I'm ready! I also love TNs and have inserts in in lots of different styles, both standard and passport size. They offer such great flexibility! Have a great trip to Ireland--I hope you will do a "flip" of your TN when you return!
The Miami Pen Show starts July 19, 2024. Many vendors are on line and available to preview prior to attending the show. I was able to sign up fora nibmeister as well as a handwriting class.
Went to the Orlando Pen show… was super excited to learn and purchase, but left without anything except for a locbe journal which I absolutely love. Found the vendors not really interested in showing and reviewing their products…not a great experience.

That’s so cool! I saw those when I was looking around. Do you recommend them?

Awesome! Great pointers for next year! Thanks a bunch! 😊
It was great to meet you at the PNW pen show, Alexander, and love your channel! Thanks for mentioning Letter Writer Social!
Thanks a lot! And yes, anything to point people towards letter writing! Great to meet you as well!
Thank you for this. I'm going to the SF pen show. It will be my first show and honestly I'm a lil nervous but seeing videos like this makes me excited
I’m glad to hear this! It can be intimidating. Wishing you the best at the SF pen show!

That’s awesome! They’re so many good classes being offered. I’ll be sure to take more next time I’m at a pen show!

This is incredibly unfortunate! I hope you get to attend a better pen show in the future! You bought a LOCHBY journal?
Had no clue pen shows were a thing!!!! Omg!!!
Welcome to the club!
