Well, we've been told often enough that we pronounce pretty much every name wrong. With Rothesay, we try to copy how we hear the locals say it, but we probably butcher this one too.
HI - I was told that there are quite a few nice boutique stores in Rothesay but I dont see a downtown area just a few strip mall type= is there a downtown and did you see some nice stores or not really its mostly big box - thank you so much! I watch all your videos and really enjoy them
Rothesay is not a large town and it's so close to Saint John that most people go into the city to do their shopping. Hampton Road is basically the downtown strip.
@@monsieurtalent9715 That's fantastic. Well, if you don't know anyone in the area, you do now. We're so happy that you get something from these little videos. Thank you for your kind words.
Hi Chris. I'm not sure specifically which part you are referring to, but we will do another video during the spring or summer when it looks infinitely more spectacular.
We did a long drive through Rothesay and Quispamsis this summer which shows the trees and river at their flourishing best. Be sure to give that a watch if you're interested, but the fall colours will be a couple of months yet.
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing. We have plenty more videos planned and when the weather gets better, we will venture further out to some of the popular tourist areas.
Do you mean that private homes have businesses in the home? I grew up in Chile. I saw that all the time! I did not think that happened outside of Latin America! What I mean is, people will open a little store right in the living room. Normally you would buy things through a window. Sometimes they would transform a room in the house and open it to the street as a store.
No, its not quite like that. More that what was once a home has had the main floor converted to a actual business with the living quarters upstairs. The business would still have to be licensed and approved and the property zoned to allow for it. My late mother was from Chile. I haven't been there but she was very proud of her roots. I believe she was born in Iquique and grew up in Valparaiso.
Oh! What a coincidence! I’ve been in Canada for 20 years but I grew up and lived in Chile till I was 30 years old. Now you know how old I am🤣🤣 it was possible for people to have a little business in their home without having to pay any license when I was growing up. I think some people still do it to this day! I married a lovely Canadian from BC. He has never been outside British Columbia.
@@marcelinastanton3346 My mom married an Englishman. She hated living in England and he got Typhoid Fever living in Chile. They settled in BC as a compromise that offered a little something that reminded each of their homeland. Wendy and I travel a lot and love Europe, so finding Saint John was like a compromise that reminds us a little of Europe and a little of Vancouver.
@@WeLoveSaintJohn Vancouver island is very much like the south of Chile. I am talking about the Lakes region of the south. Valdivia, Puerto Montt, Puerto varas, Llanquihue, Río bueno, etc. I hope one day my husband and I may make it to the Maritimes!
These are great videos. Thanks. My wife and I are considering moving to this very area this summer from Toronto area. Are jobs tough to find over there these days? I'm a trucker and she does generally telephone, customer service type stuff. Was looking in Moncton but Saint John area just looks more appealing to us. Especially after your videos.
Congratulations. I think that's a very smart decision. Your wife will have no problem finding a job here. Call centres of all types are very prominent employers in the Saint John area, and always hiring. Truck drivers are in demand too, though you may have to expect a lower wage in some cases. There are jobs here for those who want them.
@@WeLoveSaintJohn thanks for the information and videos. We'll see what happens, Moncton definitely appears to have more transport jobs but Saint John looks nicer. 👍 And I definitely understand income will be less but at the same time you don't need to make as much over there. Can't touch a Detached house this way for less than a million. 😱
Yeah, sorry, I know its loud but its not the engine. The noise is either tires or a ball joint and I will be getting it checked soon when I switch out of the winter tires.
Thank you too for your continuous labour and commitment to keeping us informed about saint John NB...

i enjoy your channel a lot. just stumbled upon it and now I am onto your third video. feel like i'm taken on a trip with you.
Thank you very much. So you only have 167 more videos to go.
You guys are really generous sharing all these. I feel I am in the backseat appreciating the view and the conversation! =) Cheers from Brazil.
Thank you so much. We really try to make our videos conversational and friendly, so we appreciate your kind comment.
Hi from Ivory Coast 🇨🇮
❤ Thanks showing Rothesay.
Does it mean people don’t walk at all, they only use car.
Waiting for the spring/summer edition of this video ;)
It will be soon
New video has been posted.

Funny you mentioned making more videos of the Kennebecasis region in all seasons =) I want to see those trees flourishing and falling =)

I see my restaurant with 4 cars in the parking lot ha ha
Well, just think, in many parts of the country under lock down, there would be zero cars in their parking lot. Yay Maritimes!
I have to ask. what type of vehicle are you driving? I can hear the sound of your engine as you drive.
