They drive like a dream. I do appreciate (and have owned ) the pre-1977 behemoths, but these cars were a big leap forward...especially in handling and utilization of space.
I have to say that this is one of the best color combinations I've ever seen on a Cadillac from this time period! I've always been a fan of the '77-79 DeVille, but especially the '77 since this tail-light style was only available for that year. I had an early 80s Coupe DeVille and always thought those rear lights were gonna get crunched! 'Wouldn't be as easy for them to get mangled with this setup! Makes a lot more sense for the lower half to be 'part' of the bumper, you know?
When my father immigrated to America in 1980, this was the first car he purchased. He kept it until 1989 and I have fond memories of this magnificent beast.
i have one theese same year and everything but this one is in way better shape... but still i love it! it was the first car i eva had and i ways wanted to restore it but never had the time but after seeing this video, i want to start workin on my baby! thank you!
Brings back awesome memories from my youth! My mom had a '77 CDV, DeElegance, FUEL-INJECTED! On RARE occasions, she'd let me drive it to school..I don't know how many horses the fuel-injection added (and it was a pretty rare option, at the time) but, MAN; did that thing SCOOT!
wow thanks for doing this car Kyle! I remember my pops had a Sedan Deville just like this one when I was a kid. I don't remember the year but I recognize the grill and the same interior. I like how this car has the original hubcaps. Man this vid brings back memories
My first car in 1993! My dad gave it to me all I had to do is replace the u joints brakes and water pump and it was mine. Gave me 4 good years of service. It had 260k on it when I got it.
Fell in love with the 1977-79 Fleetwood Brougham since I was 12, now I'm saving a lot of money to get one of these. Kinda hard here in The Netherlands though.
American cars= the best of the best!!! In my country there are only supercars (Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani) or city cars, if you want drive a good car you con buy only a deutsche car. American cars are my dream, great country=great cars!!! 👍👍👍👍👍
That car has a couple of the same issues that my 79 had. The missing emblem over the trunk lock and the loose control panel on the driver's door. My brothers and I bought our Mom the 79 in 1989 and she passed in 91. I took the car and figured I'd drive it til something major went wrong. I had it til 2005 and drove it 175k miles!! Those cars ran and ran! Still ran great when I traded it in back in '05! Rear end was going out though! (for second time) Miss that car though! Kept the hood ornament!
+George Washington I traded it in on a GMC pick-up. They gave me 400.00 for it. The engine had almost 300k on it and still ran smooth and quiet! Sort of wish I'd kept and restored it.
Yeah the rear ends on the box chevies (the RWD C/D bodies were just stretched box B bodies) were pretty bad. 3rd and 4th gen Fbody rear ends sucked ass too.... aftermarket can help with new axles, differentials, and final drives. But expect to pay for high quality parts. That's the main reason why I didn't take on one of these as my very first project car. They're very upgradable otherwise though. Remember this is just an enlongated box chevy so all the suspension and brake upgrades bolt right up!
Takes me back to Cadillac number two in my life -- a Sedan DeVille in a light pastel green with contrasting darker green top and interior and the same wheel covers that was even cleaner than this. No loud muffler installed, however. Traded in my first Caddy, a 77 Coupe DeVille in the same color combo for it in the Summer of 1990. No 8-track in either of my 77's, tho.
Very unusual colour , haven't seen many in that gold/green metallic before. Be funny if they colour keyed the interior aswell Lol. Crackin motors you just don't see any over here in Britain only collectors have em, and I agree with others this is an era of motoring that we'll most likely not see again with all that environmental stuff goin on, and those big V8s sound fab, just so quiet you'd never know it had a big engine, can't drive myself I'm partially-sighted but if I could I'd want one a these, even though older American cars weren't always the most sophisticated who cares they're different from anything else and that's what makes them great.
I'd argue that it's closer to the '77-'79 cars. The Deville/Fleetwood line was updated in 1980 with a 'taller' front end & grille, which persisted through the 80s as the Brougham (before ending in 1992). The car in the game's performance is definitely closer to a late 80s Brougham with its 140HP 5.0l Olds V8, but styling-wise the car's roofline (look at the rear pillar and the fixed section just before the pillar, which is slanted forward like the '77-'79, while the brougham had an upright glass pannel there), along with having the 'shorter' grille from this first 'iteration' of the '77-'92 generation of body-on-frame Cadillacs. Even the dashboard is clearly inspired by the late-70s models with large controls set into a fake-wood dash (also takes some inspiration from a late 70s/early 80s Pontiac). The only major difference would be the shape of the trunk lid. Still, very close either way: it's basically just the same car, minus a different engine and a few minor cosmetic changes. The car in game isn't an exact replica of either, but I've always felt that it was closer to these early model years of this generation, rather than the more recent Brougham models.
I've always wanted one of these cars. They may not be ones for horsepower (or mileage for that matter), but they could tow a mountain with that torque.
My grandparents had a brand new, sky-blue, 1977 Cadillac Sedan de Ville. I was only 5-6yo & remember going w/them to see the "The Outlaw Josey Wales" at the local theater. It was a 9:30 showing & I feel asleep during the movie. After the show my grandmother carried me to the car. It was very dark & hard to see & when trying to enter that car, my grandparents noticed that it seemed "lower" then when the exited it. That is when they noticed the cinder blocks & all 4 tires gone/stolen. LOL.
A great solid car to start with for a rebuild. My favorite Cadillac is the 1976 Fleetwood Brougham Talisman edition in dark navy blue. Super rare and hard to find.
i like the car, thought im into old chevys not caddys, i like how u say " Today " and when you say " Further I Do " u get a close shot of the front grille lol...in all ur videos . nice videos bro
Ive got a 77 SdV that i bought for $500 that im in the process of engine swapping. Old 425 boat anchor had a knock. Love these cars. This one is a lot different than mine tho. Different lights, better interior, etc. mine must be a higher trim or something. No, its not a desirable car or anything, but i love the thing to death n want to keep it on the road- with a 5.3 ltr V8 out of a GMC Envoy.
If I were to take on any downsized GM RWD platform car as project it'd be a '78-'81 DeVille or '78-'79 Fleetwood. Don't l]ike the '77 style taillights, though I'm sure the '78+ style is easily swapped in on cars that fall outside the years I specified. The DeVille in this video definitely needs some maintenance but it's all there. Doors and rockers panels look solid too. Good candidate for a pro touring build!
@firstmusic00 Motor trend tested one and got 0-60 in 10.5 seconds so 180hp sounds accurate. Thats a very good 0-60 time for a late 70's full size car. These 77-79 caddys were geared pretty steep too. They came with a 2.28:1 rear end ratio.
Sitting in the back of a long white...CADILLAC! from Mister Dwight Yoakam.....had to do that :-D Do you guys hear that door? THUNK! Man those cars were built. Doors now are a small clap. That's an awesome find!!!
can't watch it all right now but once again Kyle u hit the top again! Now it's confirmed I believe 78 is the 1st year Cadillac 1st came out with the seatbelt chime since this one doesn't have one or maybe it was disconnected? Anybody know this? I know it's pretty obscure but notice now all cars have pleasant chimes instead of buzzers cause Cadillac I believe was the 1st 2 come out with it!
I just got one its missing the back bumper fillers but overall its a very nice car... it was my grandma's but she passed away, only has about 13000 miles on it.. and its been garage kept
Oh yes, this is indeed the cornerstone of any American classic and it always will be...but let's not forget about Lincoln as well, in fact, could you possibly review the new 2010 Lincoln Navigator in both night and day? :D :D :D :D I would love that very very much if you did
Need some for sale in Spokane cuz I would love to have this car! just to rare around here! Awesome car! My dream first car. Sure its ghetto but it SWEET!!!!!! Cant say how much i love this car and other Cadillacs!
There are things you can do. Swap in a later 700R4 or 4L65E. You gain one more gear, specifically for fuel economy at highway cruising speeds. And catch up on any neglected maintenance on the 425/368. Vacuum leaks and fuel trim issues will KILL any hopes of smooth driving and decent MPGs.
You were reading the Wikipedia article on the car, weren't you? I'm not dissing it, but right after I watched this video I went and looked it up and the beginning of the section for this body style starts out exactly the same.
my friend had to drive his grandfathers 1975 Sedan DeVille to school yesterday and they threatened to tow it if he didnt move it because it took up two parking spaces length wise. I was just rotl! :D
I have the same problem. I live in the UK and it takes up two spaces. I had a street hitler come and say 'If you don't move it, I'll have it towed!'. My answer: You can try!

That car only has a five-digit odometer. I'm willing to bet it has more than 70k on it. Still, a very clean example of an old Caddy. Incredibly big engine, wow! 7.0 liter V8. And the poor thing only made 180hp.
What an exceptional car....the sound of the Deville's engine is ace!
They drive like a dream. I do appreciate (and have owned ) the pre-1977 behemoths, but these cars were a big leap forward...especially in handling and utilization of space.
These are some of the most reliable cars on the planet. I grew up in the 80s and 90s and my late father drove one of these. Hell of a car.
I shouldn't like the color, but I do. Really suites this car.
I love everything about this car. The size, the shape, the engine, the interior and the grille. Great video
I have to say that this is one of the best color combinations I've ever seen on a Cadillac from this time period!
I've always been a fan of the '77-79 DeVille, but especially the '77 since this tail-light style was only available for that year. LOVE looking at these 1970s Cadillac - especially this generation.
i have one theese same year and everything but this one is in way better shape... but still i love it! it was the first car i eva had and i ways wanted to restore it but never had the time but after seeing this video, i want to start workin on my baby! thank you!

This guy does the best automotive tours!
Kyle, this is a perfect example of the kinds of cars i want to see you review! Great video.
wow thanks for doing this car Kyle! I remember my pops had a Sedan Deville just like this one when I was a kid. I don't remember the year but I recognize the grill and the same interior. I like how this car has the original hubcaps. Man this vid brings back memories
Kyle, Carburetor has feelings too! Blip the throttle after couple minutes , gets it off high idle.
My first car in 1993! My dad gave it to me all I had to do is replace the u joints brakes and water pump and it was mine. Gave me 4 good years of service. It had 260k on it when I got it.
Wow! You went back for this one! Thank you for sharing and bring cars like this to your channel.
Fell in love with the 1977-79 Fleetwood Brougham since I was 12, now I'm saving a lot of money to get one of these. Kinda hard here in The Netherlands though.
You had to order the de elegance package on the deville to be on par with the Olds 98 Regency and Buick Electra Park Avenue..
nothing like the roar of an american V8
oh god...i've been waiting for you to review a old caddy like this forever...PLEASE DRIVE IT!!!
1 highway 0 city baby!
Tan Gre ( Baby chuckles)
What a nice clean Caddy!
Thanks for the excellent tour!
Great video as always! What a beautiful old Cadillac!
American cars= the best of the best!!! In my country there are only supercars (Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani) or city cars, if you want drive a good car you con buy only a deutsche car. American cars are my dream, great country=great cars!!! 👍👍👍👍👍
Yes bro ,The best is americano cars

absolutely love the 77-79 sedan deville and fleetwood brougham sedan

what did you buy after ?
+George Washington I traded it in on a GMC pick-up. They gave me 400.00 for it. The engine had almost 300k on it and still ran smooth and quiet! Sort of wish I'd kept and restored it.

Super nice example of this car. Good to see these in their original state and not 'pimped out'
thats an beautiful classic car
you have to appreciate it though. the car has so much character and it was a great car back in the day
Awesome car and video.the 425 V8 this year replaced the 500 V8 from `76. Thanks so much. you rock.
Always loves the 77 tail lights. I have a 78 and love it but those tail lights
What an awesome interior. Love that dash.
Isn't the "emperor" car from the GTA games based on this?
James Batchelor the emperor is based on a late 80s Cadillac brougham
I'd argue that it's closer to the '77-'79 cars. The Deville/Fleetwood line was updated in 1980 with a 'taller' front end & grille, which persisted through the 80s as the Brougham (before ending in 1992). yea but this look' excatly the same
screw those rockstar imitations I replace them with real ones!
God, I love that AM/FM Stereo in that 77 Cadillac Coupe Deville.
I love your reviews, great job. Here in Belgium we can only dream about these cars... too many taxes, small roads, high priced fuel... :'(
I've always wanted one of these cars. They may not be ones for horsepower (or mileage for that matter), but they could tow a mountain with that torque.
I always liked how all the important warning lights were on the top of the dashboard. When Cadillac cars looked like a Tuxedo.
the transmission on the 1977-1984 Cadillac Sedan de Ville
Transmission
3-speed TH-400 automatic
3-speed TH-350C automatic
4-speed TH-200-4R automatic
Dude I love you videos, to me they are like pay-per-view.
I just saw one of these with black paint on Craigslist for only $3000. Wondering if I should trade in my '03 Impala for it.
Oh no that’s a bad trade
I swear I saw this same Cadillac today while I was driving. Same color, same for sale sign, great shape.
Kyle you really need to find a 1974-1976 Cadillac fleetwood talisman! Those are extremely rare but in my opinion the prettiest Cadillacs made
My grandparents had a brand new, sky-blue, 1977 Cadillac Sedan de Ville. I was only 5-6yo & remember going w/them to see the "The Outlaw Josey Wales" at the local theater. It was a 9:30 showing & I feel asleep during the movie. After the show my grandmother carried me to the car. mint condition!, great find! and i love the color on this thing.
I have a 1990 sedan DeVille I don't think I could trade it I love the digital dash.
I got it at 115,000 miles
+Wayne Paul Did you notice that Cadillac is short for Caddy
You can swap em in thought
A great solid car to start with for a rebuild. My favorite Cadillac is the 1976 Fleetwood Brougham Talisman edition in dark navy blue. Super rare and hard to find.
What's REALLY difficult.. is finding a Fleetwood Brougham.. in a LIGHT color: they seem to always be painted in dark colors.
this one is really rare in my city great video
Oh and at 3:25 - I like the red turn signals blended with the brake lights!
i like the car, thought im into old chevys not caddys, i like how u say " Today " and when you say " Further I Do " u get a close shot of the front grille lol...in all ur videos . nice videos bro
Please do more classic American cars like this.
love the older cars
Its the best first Cadillac for anyone to get other than the 2000 DeVille and '69 Fleetwood. Makes you get it.
All that power and electric windows were such a luxury back then
I had a 1977 SDV as a daily driver in 2006. 2006-2008. It was orange with a white vinyl roof.
Oh wow I did not know that they had power windows back then. That is so cool nice car too.
So beautiful! many videos with cars like this!
This in Black with Black leather interior. MY GOD!!!
Damn that thing is mint! I hope I look that good in 2 years when I turn 33 ;)
ive never seen a car with an 8 track player. now thats old school right there
Ive got a 77 SdV that i bought for $500 that im in the process of engine swapping.
Those were the days, I was ten in 1977.
I love the rumble of the engine.
i wish they still made cars this big
Very nice, I wish I had the coupe from this generation!
That's the albany emperor from gta 5!
considering the age of this car its in decent shape....the stereo system also sounded nice for something old.
If I were to take on any downsized GM RWD platform car as project it'd be a '78-'81 DeVille or '78-'79 Fleetwood. @rockerdriver The seatbelt chime came out in the 1976 Seville and was placed in the DeVilles in 1979.
VERY NICE SEDAN DIVILLE.
Sitting in the back of a long white...CADILLAC!
from Mister Dwight Yoakam.....had to do that :-D
Do you guys hear that door? THUNK! Man those cars were built. Doors now are a small clap.
That's an awesome find!!!
favorite Cadillac sedan deville similar to the escalade
can't watch it all right now but once again Kyle u hit the top again! just bought a 77 sedan deville, with 44k miles on
Wow. Immaculate condition inside and out. I would love to have a vintage car like this if only it wasn't such a gas guzzler.

What a beauty
my friend had to drive his grandfathers 1975 Sedan DeVille to school yesterday and they threatened to tow it if he didnt move it because it took up two parking spaces length wise. I was just rotl! :D
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The true gangster car!
Patrick Treu I can just see someone ridin’ through with Snoop Dogg playing.
I love that dam color! never seen that b4!
@desertfox2020 nevermind... the really long one is the 1974-1976 Cadillac Fleetwood 75 limosine. It was 21 ft long!
I have the same problem. I live in the UK and it takes up two spaces. I had a street hitler come and say 'If you don't move it, I'll have it towed!'. My answer: You can try!
beautiful
Foarte masivă și frumoasă mașina. In Romania costă aproximativ 18000-22000€ această mașină clasică.
excellent car an American beauty that is a real car ...
thats a nice there unit, for real!
Even after they had slimmed down somewhat, they were still big...as opposed to what they make NOW!
I noticed a rust patina on the undersides, the rest of the body looks nice. Saw N. Carolina plates on the Cadillac. I asked the North Carolina DMV if they salt the roads and they said yes. How problematic is the road salt amount in relation to rust on the N. Carolina cars compared to say, Wisconsin, etc? Do the panels rust out much in N. Carolina?
A "golden oldie" in every sense.
sorta reminds me of the 1978 buick estate wagon my family had until this year
Beautiful!
@saabkyle04 actually a power SEAT. looks like my 73 did. it had a power bench seat. this looks like it as far as teh seat goes
That car only has a five-digit odometer. I'm willing to bet it has more than 70k on it. Still, a very clean example of an old Caddy. Incredibly big engine, wow! 7.0 liter V8. And the poor thing only made 180hp.
