Saying JJK is overrated is a valid take if they criticize the character writing because there isn’t much character writing. The animation, soundtrack, fights, and directing is great but the characters and plot are driven by a guy we know little about(Kenjaku) and Sukuna who we know little to nothing about.
So true. People (me included) really enjoy the animation and cool character designs but aside from that it doesn’t have much to offer when comparing to other mainstream shows

Exactly, people tend to get triggered thinking overrated means bad, but it doesn't, overrated just mean the anime doesn't mesure up to the hype (and JJK's hype is massive, even more in Japan where it's hyped as if it was the anime of the century just like Demon Slayer, which neither of them are)
Japanese people don't dislike Solo Leveling because it's Korean; they dislike it because the author has a strong anti-Japanese bias.
If you look at the original Korean version, it's filled with baseless anti-Japanese sentiments that are incredibly offensive. Interestingly, they removed the anti-Japanese content when selling it in Japan.
It's ironic-they claim to hate Japan but have no problem making money from it.
This shows how shallow their anti-Japan stance is, even though they make it seem like a huge deal to the world.
Well, that's just society. People profiting off people they hate is a tale as old as time. A lot of American politicians don't like China yet source a lot of their work out to them. Plus, you know...the history between them.

まず、日本ではアニメ自体がとても身近で人気があるので、それを基準に人気のあるものを嫌う人が一定数いる。そういう人たちは、ここにいる海外のアニメファンのように特にアニメに詳しいわけでもなく、アニメが大好き、大嫌いな深い理由があるわけでもない。日本人だからと言ってアニメの専門家ではないし、漠然とした理由を持っているというだけだから、あんまりファンの人達は気にしなくていいよ。

The thing is the guys/channels translation of what the interviewer asked is kinda off, what he actually asked them is more like “what’s an anime that is popular but personally you didn’t like?” not “what anime is overrated?”
Pretty bad translation tbh I know he’s the Japanese guy but anyone who knows Japanese (it’s not like my Japanese is amazing but even I can see the issue) will agree. I guess you could say it’s a similar question but still, his translation makes the opinions more strong than it actually sounds.

I watched it last year, June to August, I watched it all in 1 summer before school starts back
Fairy Tail is such a rollercoaster of emotions, and it was the philosophy of bonds that carried, the more you know what the characters are going through, the more you feel them, and the Fairy Tail guild felt like you're one of them, a family, and the characters felt real the more you care for them, the more they stick with you
Whole arc is on every opening, villains are forgiven after killing people like nothing happened.

No one said Naruto as either overrated or underrated, but I think that after having ended a few years back, it is slowly shifting from overrated to underrated. I remember that people used to drag Naruto by saying that it's so overrated when it was airing. Maybe it was the filler effect which can be skipped now, or the fact that the series has ended and does not come up as much these days. In a few more years, I think it would be called underrated by many
I had this thought you know, people take for granted how unique Dragon Ball, Naruto, and One Piece are because we are used to them now.

I had a hard time watching the first season of JJK, it was very boring, the graphics were bad, the characters were flat, the plot was uninteresting, I kept wanting to drop the anime. But the second season is much better, and I'm glad I stuck it out. But I understand the people in the video.

Well that's fair then if the show is just doing what other anime do then what's the point? I tried reading fairy tail as a teenager when shonen manga was the highest form of literature I knew and even then it felt so generic and cliché. Why read dollar store one piece when you can read one piece?

I don't understand the hate on fairy tail and demon slayer. I dont like the main character in fairy tail but the entire anime goes on pinch in my heart string. I must admit after mugen train arc demon slayer focuses more on hashira and whos powerful power levels. I still dont hate them. Still epic both of them.

JJK whether you like it or not IS overrated. The show most of the time has got absolutely nothing going on other than the action scenes. I would even say that the main reason why JJK is popular isn't even because it's well animated but because of gojo. I remember when the show first got animated it didn't get that much attention until that one episode where gojo removed his eye mask. It's fair to admit that Gojo is the character that popularized the show and anyone who disagrees with this take is just biased 🤷♂

Yeah bcs he's written and drawn that way 🤷 there's gotta be that one daddy badass character that popularizes the series and make sure he's not the mc and also, he's the most powerful (or close to) in the verse. Don't worry about the writing. The author will 100% give that character it's own spinoff chapter or episode to 🍼🥛 it more.

17:30 Y'all don't seem to understand just how popular Demon Slayer is or was in Japan. Despite it already being very popular in the West, it was somehow still even more popular in Japan. It was practically inescapable. An anomaly with how popular it was, it was everywhere. Children, teens, elderly could all watch and enjoy it. It's not surprising to see many people view it as overrated.

Demon Slayer - Overhated
I know its story is simple and straight but its nothing to hate as it works perfectly with it. Animation is S tier .
JJK - Little overrated because if you read all the story , at last you will see that its all fights and random power ups , Side character importance is nothing they put up fight and die without creating any impact. E.g. Gojo , Kusakabe

The characters have no substance. like, what's it even about?
Season 2's decisions I absolutely respect, this was madness. or would have been, if I gave a damn about the world and characters involved.
S1 was rated well IMO, yes the Gojo and Nanami fans did boost the reputation up a little too high but it's not a bad show by any means. I wouldn't go as far as to say the characters have no substance, it's just typical shonen shit. Then S2 brought a whole new wave of fans that way inflated its ratings.
And in the manga it gets worse lol
Jjk is just aesthetics. The characters have no substance and you never really get attached to them. You don't even have any expectations for character relationships because the author clearly doesn't care. I feel like it's a manga written just for power scalers and crayon eating hype monkeys.
I still like it but it's definitely not some sort of sophisticated piece of literature. It's a good piece of entertainment.
@@gyro8111there's been this thing in the manga recently where characters go into details about certain concepts of the power system but it all doesn't matter and it's just boring AF. It's almost like the author thinks his power system is more flexible than it is. Having a long explanation of how something works in hxh is interesting because nen is a way more "interactive" power system but curse power is just like chakra or spirit energy of bleach. It's not that deep. Imagine if dragons ball had deep explanations on how Frieza made a giant ki blast. Who cares? At the end of the day is just x character does big strong attack.
thank you, I have had this complaint since forever, but JJK is so sparse on actual character building... especially with the relationships between our core trio.
Itadori makes no sense as a character, being super sociable and nice, but having basically no social connections to anyone until after he gets kidnapped into sorcerer society... it feels so contrived, because with the death of his grandpa in episode 1, he basically is cut off from every other connection outside of the new ones he's forming in the current plot. but then the show spends no time on his newly forming relationships either.
the main three are just plopped unceremoniously in proximity to each other, and they start acting like old friends automatically. when Itadori and Nobara are bickering about where to go to eat, or fawning over Fushiguro's shadow dogs, I'm like "wait, when did they even start to know each other this well?" and really, they didn't. they're just acting as sock puppets for tropes that people like.
when Itadori "dies," it's weird, because he's known the other 2 for like a week, tops. how are they supposed to miss him?? they're sad like when a coworker passes, but it's not like they actually knew him. so when he comes back, their reactions are weak... their relationship feels weaker than when Itadori became friends with Junpei, and it's weird that Itadori is grieving him without his other two friends even knowing, and they don't even ask questions about where he's been, and all of it just gets shoved like... not even onto the back burner, but off of the whole damn stove. we're not cooking with it anymore, it is not part of the meal. which is why the dish feels like it's missing something.

Kingdom is underrated as hell, that's Vinland Saga's or AoT's level of quality, had 5 seasons (including the 2 first that had garbage animation but were carried so hard by the story, VA and music it still worked) and hundred of chapters, but it seems like nobody even talk about it among "mainstream" anime which is just crazy to me

Overrated: JJK (Crunchyroll Awards proves my point, dont get it wrong I love JJK manga but the anime is 1000000% overrated)
Underrated: Vinland Saga (The greatest manga ever created in my opinion + S2 got so much shit cuz there was no "action" like duh that's the whole point of Vinland saga, Violence=Bad)
My favourite anime of all time: Mob Psycho 100 (the greatest anime of the 21st century in my opinion, one of the greatest tales ever told, one of the greatest cast of characters ever written, one of the greatest Conclusions to an anime ever seen, all in all Mob Psycho 100 is as close as you can get to a PERFECT ANIME)
Same with JJK. Sorry but even though people like it, I feel like the author wrote himself into a corner and its power system is not really to my liking.

People saying JJK is overrated are purely speaking based on Season 1. Because I had the exact same opinion until I pushed through it. The moment I watched JJK 0 and started watching season 2 I couldn’t stop. I’m even reading the manga and I do NOT read at all. The only other manga I’ve read is Kagurabachi (like the first 10 chapters). But I am continuing reading JJK and don’t see myself stopping any time soon. I will say now that it is genuinely interesting and it is rated pretty fairly

Ymir being "IN LOVE" with king fritz after more than 1000 years is so forced and unrealistic. You are telling me she was looking all this time for one person to show her what it means to "be free"... But she couldn't learn what real love was from the millions of eldians over the last 1000 years. Not one fuk'n relationship in those 1000 years were better than hers so that she could learn from them. Apparently she was waiting for Mikasa and Eren.. even though Eren is nothing like king fritz in the way he treated Mikasa. King fritz had other women ... Eren didn't. Eren was alao didn't treat her like 💩 compared to what the king did. "Only Ymir knows but for some reason she let everything happen even though she knew what was going to happen. She is the one who took the titan powers back. This is all her fault for being the dumbest character of all time next to Eren. Their logic is so dumb it makes zero sense. Eren blaming Reiner for his mom's death even though Eren caused it 💀. What an ending. Notice how I haven't mentioned the main differences of the manga and anime cuz I don't need to to even make my case as to why the ending is so bad. Zeke switching sides after 1 half azzed speech. 💀. But I can say without a doubt that it is the most boring show I've ever watched. But I liked it a little bit. It took me 3 Months to complete it even though it was already completed airing. The manga for oshi no ko is great but everyone loved to hype the first season to the high heavens
I mean they are right, Doga Kobo did a really good job with the adaptation, they nailed the important scenes, animation goes hard, especially when it needs to, the sound design is really good, I can think of the scene in episode 6 with the rain or another episode when they were in a car which also felt immersive, the usage of color is really enhancing certain scenes, like the scene at the end of an episode where Aqua is asking Mem-cho for the group which was so beautiful, the character design are also really good and diverse, the OST are well used to enhance certain scenes, the voice actors are on point, like Ai's moment in the end of the first episode felt genuine, Aqua's acting in Sweet Today biggest scenes, etc.

The biggest thing that happened after episode 1 was the suicide attempt and that's okay. Unless it's a 2 cour season the first season is usually just to introduce you to the world. It looks good yes, the only reason I even picked up the manga was because I liked the art style and I was bored, but there are multiple shows that look good nowadays, I want a little more substance with what I watch. I don't think there has ever been a first arc of any show that got hyped up as much as this apart from demon slayer which also just looks good. From this current theater arc onwards it becomes a lot more interesting than the 1st season. The main reason most people hype it up is even only because of its good opening and good hour long intro episode

People recommend to watch Op anime but I just can't because of too much hype and I chose to try watching Naruto instead because of the comments. Now, naruto is my fav anime after trying to watch other anime. Naruto/Boruto and Demon Slayer are the animes I finished watching. Tried watching Aot but it's just not for me (ep9), HxH (ep112), Dragon Ball-DBZ (ep198), Jujutsu Kaisen (ep5).
7:00 W take, it has its flaws, but it does not deserve this overwhelming hate, Seven Dealy Sins is literally over-hated, the animation did disappoint me during season 3 as i was a huge manga fan, and it may have weird plot twists at the end, but i think its no reason to hate on it, Not the best anime, but it deserves its respects as well

Don't get me wrong, there are some good plot points later on, but taking a broad look at the latter seasons, it was still watchable and it's possible people could enjoy it, but it was getting worse. Seven Deadly Frames was just the final straw that broke the Camel's back
@@Hattori_864 Well i did not watch SAO, so can't relate with that. but you are not completely wrong, but i think event though it really did leave a lot of plotholes and a lot things stuff was not at all fleshed and out of place, it did not stop me from enjoying what the story was at its core. I understand all criticisms, but i still stand with my point that its just overhated and that it doesn't have to be this much hate for a show that in reality is a just a basic shonen that just failed to explain a very good concept properly.
The animation is definitely a sore point, but I guess an even larger issue is the questionable romantic relationships 😬😬

Its normal in japan to draw underage girl 4000 years old, which is dumb, but its something that can be ignored cus there are something that you have to adjust with. However, the ships were never a hindrance to me while watching the show unlike a lot of twitter idiots who were cutting their wrists over this.
And also when ppl find a reason to downgrade something when that thing has shown some bad things already, they tend to nit pick every tiny tiny details and things that are also their in other media but no they wanna nit pick every single thing until they can justify their hatred for something that is just a piece of entertainment. @@X_Podius it's mid. You're not gonna convince me it's not. If fairy tail was published in shonen jump it would have been cancelled in 1 volume. It thrived because it was in a magazine where the best thing they published was magi and the rest was a bunch of mid shonen no one reads. They kept fairy tail running for so long because they wanted their own one piece. If you let a piece of cake on the floor eventually ants will gather around and eat it. That doesn't mean the cake was good. It's the same with fairy tail it's there so people eventually get in a situation where they watch it but they would have used their time better by watching something else that's better written.
Some people think disaster movie is the best movie ever so I'm not blaming you for liking fairy tail but I'm pretty sure it's either nostalgia because that was the only thing you could watch or you convinced yourself that you had to like it because you had already spent so much time watching it.
