"Canasson" is a demeaning synonym of "horse" or "donkey" in French. It is used to describe a slow, old or otherwise unresponsive quadruped. And now, your computer is stubbornly unresponsive and drives you nuts... just as a "canasson" would. Thanks for the upload, Daniel! Always a delight of pure content and fun captions.
@NorthStarBlue1 Indeed, the icon is very on-the-nose. I like that virus a lot, and this demonstration was perfect. How Daniel realized too late that his steed (the mouse) led him astray in Minesweepee after minutes of battling it and other annoyances... I can't find something more fitting
Please never underestimate the value of the captions you add to your videos, as a fully hearing person who uses captions because of how fast I can read, I cannot imagine how useful they are to hearing-impaired people :)
i 100% [DING] agree! [DING] it puts a [DING] smile on my face [DING] when people [DING] actually [DING] put effort into [DING] the [DING] captions. [DING] enter enter enter enter [DING] enter [DING]
Great video, as always! Love the frequent uploads. BTW, most likely what that print dialog was doing was pausing the program's internal timer that's used for alternating the mouse speed. It probably didn't have to do anything with the mouse speed itself.
And the NumLock dialog. It's 9x, so these system messages disable all the other software that's running. You should try running this virus on NT, see what it does.
"Canasson" is a synonym to "cheval", which means horse in French. That's also the icon of this trojan, a horse face (but it does look like a donkey more than a horse tbf, but definitely not a cow lol)
Dan, you never fail to disappoint with a new video. Quite unusual to have a daily upload schedule for a change, but nonetheless, thank you for always keeping up with the trend.
That was briefly a series on the channel, but he stopped doing it. I don't know if people got a little too excited about the concept, or if he just felt bad about encouraging people to write malware.
would be kinda funny if there was a trojan that checks for an installed printer, hides somewhere in your system if it finds one and then prints a weird little text or some ascii art every so often
I am sensing a pattern with the uploads, I'm starting to feel that the weekly uploads are here to stay for a while. It feels like an early Christmas present, except for the dinging because that drove me insane.
You ever thought about hooking up some old peripherals and devices to the test machine watch the virus fool with them, this one really wants to print you something!
A much a better way to hide stuff in the ini than spaces, is put a bunch of things that boot up at start for windows anyway, and sandwich your program in-between them. People would be scared to remove anything because they think it will brick their system
imagine trying to beat IAMCHRIS4LIFE in stepmania while your compy has canasson. my goodness. (I noticed you in the leaderboards for ITG charts! are you a professional DDR player?)
That modal interface was introduced in WINDOWS 1.x or earlier. That one you refer to as a _"WINDOWS 3.1."_ :) If you use MS-DOS Executive, you'll see this style of modal interface. They were captionless, assumed focus always on-top, and required interaction with the button controls like this.
Dan does it again! Thanks for this video...wondering how it would behave for someone like me who doesn't use a mouse. s a visually impaired person, I actually can't.
I think this virus screws with the mouse sensitivity, repeatedly changing it up and down as fast as it can, which might explain why the mouse was fine during popups and would change as soon as you clicked the button.
At least it's just a very annoying .exe files that will make you insane to the max. And will not delete your precious files from your great grandma's PC that's been sitting in your basement for the last 30 years after she retired. xD

Well, that certainly explains why it had a cartoon donkey for an icon then. I miss the days when virus writers had a prankster's sense of humor.
erm what the fart

@@chm_mmx you have been pinned
@user-ix7ke2my4z I had a witty comment about thay but I guess it was flagged as spam and hidden. Oh well.
10:30 I love that the computer gave one last triumphant ding right before you eradicated the horse.
if you listen carefully you can almost hear me lose it
Dan never fails to make a video feel 15 years older than it is. Perfection.
for real
his vids from 8 years ago are better quality than his current ones XD
These videos are nice. Better than the 8 year old ones tbh...
I love it. I almost forget what year it is until I see comments like this one bringing me back to reality lol

Of course Dan immediately goes to go play Solitaire.
If there’s thousands of danooct fans, I am one of them. If there’s only one danooct fan, it id be me. If there are zero danooct fans, I am dead.
I love how you can just replace [DING] in the captions with any colorful word and they just work.
Had to try it out after reading this
Ahh, the old nostalgia of, "Please wait while your computer shuts down."

Seeing the dead sad face while your computer is having a meltdown is truly poetic
Dan is COOKIN'. What a time to be alive!

Let him cook

These videos always make my days much better.
These new uplods are the gift that keeps on giving.
I just realized: has Dan ever tested anti-virus? I would love to see if Norton and McAfee would be able to handle the Strong Bad Email 118.
Bad Email 118?
@@Zilkenian_DavenportStrong Bad is a character who would get emails in cartoon shorts, 118 i'm guessing he gets a virus in it.
Computer = over
Virus = very yes
Watching you trying to solve Minesweeper without clicking both mouse buttons at once was more painful than the virus itself
I had no idea that was even a thing on this version, lol. Learn something new every day
minesweeper backseating
I'm glad to know there are fellow minesweepers
good day in the minesweeper fandom
Thank you for returning to youtube and keeping to a schedule! I have watched you since forever and it makes me happy to see new videos :)
this trojan has some amazing comedic timing
Maa, he virus guy uploaded again!
Good to see ya again!
Dan, you never fail to disappoint with a new video. Quite unusual to have a daily upload schedule for a change, but nonetheless, thank you for always keeping up with the trend.
The subtitles always deliver, thanks Dan!
Once again watching the video with subtitles on is 10 times better. Love your videos, Dan!
It’s always a good day when danooct1 uploads
Love the captions for this one.

weekly uploads? this is an early christmas miracle!
Best captions ever!
funny how it hid itself with a bunch of spaces
Return of the king
These videos make me want to write my own joke viruses...

Dan, didn't know you had a famitracker remix channel lol
last upload 4 years ago, but still, very cool remixes!
This would've terrified me as a kid.
I’ve been enjoying the consistent upload schedule from Dan
Even though it is at 8 in the morning every day
Thank you for continuing to upload!
Please don't eradicate the horse!

This trojan was actually made by Hector Salamanca
Thank you for this, Dan! I always look forward to these videos
I like this one, its exactly what i would expect from a "virus".
this reminds me so much of the old “joke program” videos!!
Lol, it took you forever to notice you accidentally clicked a mine and lost.
I'm somehow feel your pain when you desperately try to point your mouse pointer. :')

i wonder if the dinging continues if you change your pc sounds, like changing the ding to something else

can you do a video on W32.Lirva?
Would love the see a source code tear down of this virus to see all its functions... Video idea?
What would happen if you add that DLL that’s missing
I can't believe there's still so many viruses out there dan hasn't reviewed yet
for a minute there i thought you were gonna fall victim to that g.d. "caw" virus somewhere in the middle of all of this😬

you should hook up a printer to it and see what it prints
I hope that cow got over it's fear of numbers
didn't some other virus also say it couldn't find mfc800.dll
If I may ask a question why'd you stop using virtual machines
He still uses them but prefers and chooses to run malware on native hardware if at all possible.
