when you said that you were working on a noa video, i got really excited because noa is one of my favorites. and this video pretty much explains how i feel about noa's character/d4dj's cast in general. i really want to delve DEEP into that fact, but this video just explains it in 21 minutes lol. i try to keep track w every d4 character's development, which makes me go a little insane some times. i do this especially with rondo and peaky which is not helping my phone storage lmao. the frustration i have over them potentially changing (rika deciding to be calmer, shinobu being more open, tsubaki being more outspoken, yuka being more than just photography and muscles) and them NOT doing that is a lot. i want these characters to evolve and grow but the fact it's a gacha just doesnt allow it. this phenomenon is also clear w weronika's 3* card of her playing fighting games w neo. she learns to be more patient and calm thanks to playing, which in turn lets her win. elsie and sophia get weirded out by this and bans weronika from playing fighting games, and after a week she's back to her usual self. it's played off as a joke, but when i was reading it i was a little disappointed. anyway, i rambled but this video pretty much explains my feelings toward d4's character writing. i love it. ty for making this.
From what im learning as a relatively new player. Noa is a very good character lore wise but the writers write her as a gag character. Unless you're the anime writer you're based.

I would love noa as a characther, maybe even relate to her. But the way her liking of cute things is very creepy, most of the time it feels like an old creepy man having an obsession with children's cuteness and i hate it very much. I also recognize many times a characther is reduced to only 1 thing about them when they are much more than that, bushiroad even sometimes streotyoe their characther which i dislike a lot 😢. Which is why i like this analysis (also because i dont read stories and this explains more abt the events lmao)
As a Noa enthusiast, I can proudly say that Noa is the best girl in the game and Noa should have a better look both from the community and how Bushiroad describes her! I still remember the days where I liked her because of how funny she is, but then the further I dig into her stories, the further I start to emphasize and love her more because of how many similarities we had. I love her voice and vocals (god bless Satou Hinata), her ideas, her vision, how determined she is and how complex she could be. If I have a thing to hate on Bushiroad then how they poorly portray Noa that sometimes she could look either really down bad or just being annoying…I agree with your point that the writers just abusingly uses the “cute hunter” part of her as a joke at every scenario that it makes a bad impression for people’s first glance at her. The most recent character development that I like (which is not really one) is her Xrossbeat story card, which shows her literary side that I always wanna explore besides the acting one. Like…cmon Bushiroad…They can make events where she is leaning more on her “cool” side, her “smart” side with different characters (not just the cute ones) or an event where she shows some of her flaws in a problem and then slowly solves it, which just like how they did in All Mix (ep 2 made me start my interest with her in the first place and ep 7 nails it for me) After watching your NoaIbuki relationship video, I did read a lot more story events and came to a conclusion: They can be fun at first but in the long run it really just a quick dopamine rush and needs time to remember and analyze before it falls down for the players (At least the Chocolate Project events clarify my view was mostly right thou so ok) TLDR: I love her and she could have been treated better
Honorable mention: I love how her outfit either look super cute or super stylish (my god look at her Summer 2021 ver outfit, her Gekirock outfit, her 3rd anniversary fair, and many of her outfits in-game)
I agree that they definitely could handle her character better but I guess I also admit that her cute obsession is what got me hooked on her in the first place. It's almost frustrating sometimes, but it is fundamental...
One word: Future Yes, they just don't care about future themselves like I'd no idea why the plot, timeline and the character is focused on relationships rather than doing themselves (for example you gonna chase your dream, your goal, etc.) And what makes me itchy is the fact that Rinku, yeah that's little ROCKING squirrel, don't care about future herself! I think D4DJ messed up their Future on each character and use it as fanservice bullsheets grabbing If they want D4DJ be more well known like Bandori, then MIND THEIR CHARACTER FUTURE, NOT A RELATIONSHIP!
I honestly confused reading this and I find this to be too off-the-rail from the point that this video made but from literally every other comments you're throwing, you just hate that characters have relationship which is weird and short-sighted. Relationship in D4DJ or literally every other character-based rhythm game is very much essential to the storytelling. The stories written is oftentimes about the passions each characters wield for themselves, but clearly some of them are unable to chase it on their own. Stories of relationship like these are where the connections could be thread, making these character actually related and impacting each others instead of just a picture of somebody from somewhere that knows nobody and just existed there to be the greatest diva or whatever. Even character that does have passion for untimely greatness will eventually resort back to human connection when they felt lost (specifically Neo). Because that's what gives these character dimension. A singer who just sings great and wanted to do great stuff is fine, but boring, & baseless for a gacha games whose focus are literally the characters being in a group together. Some of them can be fan-service-y I admit, but I don't see this as much of a problem as long as the characters were treated with respect and doesn't went overboard with any negative connotation (Abyssmare is the most complicated one but I'm sure as the group grows, they will find silver-linings within). I think it's great to focus the writing on personal ambitions. But I don't see how relationship could get in the way of writing that. If anything, it enhances that as relationship with other characters could make the journey of these individual characters more emotionally-impactful.
And I mean, let's not pretend like Bandori doesn't take quite awhile for its story to actually grow into something as impactful as it is now. D4DJ is still a fairly new franchise, give it a chance and room to breathe. The fact that the franchise is more keen to write characters with more specific personality and personal conflicts should at least be given an applause.

It really is a tough road for Comedic relief characters to be taken seriously... But at least they're trying, which is a lot more than many franchises can say. Here's to hoping it works better in the future!

The cute girl they use in the KuruNoa relation event is never shown or name dropped, and I can't use kurumi since she's actually part of Noa's lore, so I just picked one of the characters Noa traditionally finds cute.
