@Roxie21 There wasn't half as much of it when I took this video, though. Actually, a lot's changed in four years. New apartments have gone up, a few buildings have actually collapsed or been torn down, and obviously the Westin went through a few changes. . .
NYC has the more extensive subway system no doubt with much greater passenger usage. However as for comfort of seats, cleanliness, features such as watching HD content on HDTV. Marta has it beat.
Are three doors per carriage enough because those seem like very long carriages? Most metros I have ridden on have four doors per carriage and the carriges seem to be shorter. Just wondered if there was a crush at rush hour at all. :)
Granted, very few cities measure up to NY, especially in public transit. I never wanted to leave when I went...but not even Tokyo has a 24-hour subway; theirs shuts down at 11. O_O
@leonardwilson85 Yeah, Metro is cleaner. But I was talking about in terms of efficiency and rail coverage. NYC is the only one that seems to come close and it still has its issues. After riding the S-bahn and U-bahn in Berlin, coming back and riding MARTA is like trying to put on shoes that you wore in middle school.
Yeah but ya'll always forget that NY is more than Uptown or Manhattan. You got Bronx, Queens, the island and Brooklyn. And if you don't wanna live in the city you can live in NY state or Jersey. It's the whole tri state area.
NYC all da way. NY metro is older anyway. What's ya'll problem. If everything was the same then America would be boring. Besides most of the people that use NY transit are tourists.
maan this brings back memories of riding Marta to school..
Ahh my childhood relived
Is it believable to say this video was posted a day before I was born? Now here we are 14 years later

Pre-refurb! Nice!
Right? Unfortunately, the door chime wasn't working.
@@Brillemeister I don't think I have ever heard the old chime in person
It was pretty ear-splitting at times. There are a couple more videos of MARTA pre-refurb that have the chime.
wow they still had the old trains
Most of them like this one were refurbished. Some of them however were not and are still in the yard.
TY.
There's most definitely a crush now, but Atlanta didn't have so many transit riders when the trains started up in 1979.
R.I.P the old train marta

MARTA = Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority

Some trivia: at last enumeration, the station had the longest name of any subway station in the world...
WAT YEAR WAS DIS
2006
I like the paris metro and RER.
Hmmm...the films of my trips on marta are a bit more...exciting...haaaaaa...
You see the best graffiti on this line
R46's traction motor
I'd say it was Birmingham turning down an airport expansion way back when :D
No offense.
Unless, of course, you get on at Indian Creek instead. :D
Why are you coming to an Atlanta Marta thread saying NYC all da way? Who cares about NYC, why are you even mentioning it?
Aya Thomas Back off or you'll get hurt.

@Raiden100 The mass transit in Europe makes all of your systems seem laughable.
Hey, let's not go there..

ATL gets boring realy fast. If you aint into clubs, strip clubs and shit like that, all you can do is eat the food. Which is pretty good by the way.
