Monumental hit. I remember attending an outdoor party in the late 60s and this was belting out from a stereogram perched on top of small mound - for all the world to hear. My hormone production leapt off the scale. And then came the B-side..... Really a double A-side 45.
@@jim-se5xc Interesting comment. Eddie Van Halen was of the opinion that he was merely a channel for the music that came to him. And I've often thought that there are some songs that had to be written. A large number of them are classed as one-hit wonders and are often the defining song of a particular artist or band.
I had forgotten all about him, till today I was thinking about songs with sons and daughters in them, and this one just came to me. He's got a lovely voice.
This song was very popular at the time - at least in New Zealand. It's a shame it seems to have been forgotten. I'd love to have a video clip of him singing it. At least I got to see him do it live in 1968.

I love this song so much even after all those years, if my memory serves me, we made it #1 in the Australian charts.
I am still in love with this man even after 58 years❣️
This is the voice I love ❤

Sometimes i wonder with certain songs, they must come to the writer out of the ether, fully formed. They were always there. Like this one

@@malectric very nostalgic, takes me back to boarding school.
The intro is so freaking awesome
Remember him from my teenage days. Aways liked him. Nice voice and looks.
He was great on stage too, great charisma,

One of the all time great pop voices of the 60s. He was also lead vocalist for Manfred Mann up until 1966.
I remember this song well from the 1960's. Jones voice sounds very dry and harsh but I did not notice back then.
