Jean is probably the most realistic character on the show she plays her part absolutely brilliantly when she leaves or is not here anymore the show won’t ever be the same again hats off to her for being a massive credit to the show playing your part spot on all the time you deserve awards every single year with how amazing you are .
@@miabrucefan This is what I love about Eastenders. It’s been running that long that it has such history and continuity that gives everything so much more depth because you’ve truly watched theses characters while lives unfold in front of them in realtime and the layers to their backstory.
As much as I love Jean Slater but she needs to be rested for a while and to shift the focus onto some underused characters such as Kathy, Patrick, Sonia, Jay, Billy, Jack, Eve and Denise as they never get half as much the focus overused characters like Ben and Jean get.
I do not like how soaps completely change a character from villain to hero and vice versa. Jean used to be mean and vindictive (different now versus then when her meds are/were not working). Now she's lovely to everyone. They did the same to Pauline, then Ben and are doing the same to Dottie and Zack. At least Janine is still a Superbitch. 😁
In fairness bipolar-affective’s an illness of extreme highs and lows so in that sense Jean’s changing attitudes and personas are an accurate reflection of the illness (coupled with her naturally-quirky baseline-personality) but you won’t get any arguments from me that they did make her far too light and ditzy as the years went on. I’ve written theses on this across RUclips so you’re obviously not the only one to find the shift in tone for the character a bit hard to take.
She was sectioned in December 2005 (after asking to move to a smaller place but not making the move due to being very ill) and moved into some other flat in 2006 (soon after being released from the hospital). She didn’t actually move into Albert Square proper (as increasingly-frequent as her appearances may have been) until the end of 2007. For someone who posts so much about Jean, you don’t seem to really know what you’re talking about.
Dumb storyline was she was terminal and dying about a year ago and than suddenly it’s a mistake. That storyline was a disgrace to people with terminal illness
You can't help but love Jean. She's been through so many highs and lows.
Brilliant actress and Jean is a sweet heart.
Gillian wright plays Jean slater perfectly. What a talented actress she is

Jean washing Stacey’s hair in 2009 is being foreshadowed today as Lily is washing Jean’s hair.
That scene itself was a parallel to Stacey washing Jean’s hair in 2005
