Happy New year to Tim and Shaun. I must admit I didn't envy you both recovering that van. I remember what it's like recovering vehicles from Welney. It's not nice at all.
I had a great 13 months delivering in one of those Sprinters for Asda. My patch was often out in the sticks of South Devon and I loved it. I never got it flooded, but did come close when I got it stuck on the beach at Bigbury, delivering to the hotel. A nearby farmer had to pull me out lol. The Sprinter traction control obviously never fully turns off as it engaged and made the truck dig into the sand. D'oh!
Asda is the keen driver's choice of delivery van, thanks to the rack system that keeps the shopping in place. I don't think you could throw the Sainsbury's ones around without sending the load across the back haha.
always love the videos , as a tesco delivery driver myself, there is a manual realise inside the cab that you need to pull to realise the shutters ---- just for future knowledge
Props to the Asda driver taken out in action endeavouring to do your shopping so you don't have to... 😂 we've all been there thinking 'nahhh it's not that deep'!!! 😆
We have a DAF XD in our workshop flood damaged headlamps full of water and silt on the chassis rails ,so i would imagine it may be a write off as the exhaust will be full of water and possibly the engine ,the air intake is high but the filter with its drain isn't unlike shauns good old CF
As someone who delivers for Asda in Yorkshire, this is giving me anxiety but then again, I wouldn't be stupid enough to chance that. Although going around Bridlington about 2 weeks ago, a few of the roads was closed due to flooding and I did nearly get caught out by one that hadn't been closed yet.
Best way to find out how deep it is, and whether or not your vehicle can still drive is to just Go for it, pedal to the metal and await the big BANG, when the motor sucks in too much water.. Yep was too deep, and no the vehicle ain't alright afterwards either... as Toyota used to say.. BUGG-UH
I hope there wasn't anyone still in that Audi!!! Years ago I went through Welney Wash when it was flooded. Never again!! Previously, I followed a local van through the floods, but, this time, the water was above my headlights on my Volvo FM for almost a mile!! I made it, but I always go a different way now, when those signs are flashing!!
a spot of deep river fishing! lol and people pushing luck with the flood water very risky would not recommend driving through flood water as they hide a lot of danger and also some have strong currents so be safe and follow the road closer signs they there for you own safety not to be ignored, you videos are amazing keep up the hard work!
Happy new year timbo top video with shaun i love the banter between you two shame you didnt catch a fish you could have had giovanni taking catch of the day photos for the end of the video 😂😂😂😂
Should have give me a shout Tim, I’d of got you in the fish!!! 😂 Great video loved it as usual… You’ve already subbed so have look for some tips 😁😁😁🎣🎣🎣
I work for another of the big 4 supermarkets on the Van's, love this video and posted on our drivers FB group so probably gonna get loads of Tes... other drivers coming to have a giggle haha keep it up Tim.
the air vents on Sprinter vans are actually in the hood.. as are most Mercedes intakes.. like those black bits you see on the hood are the intakes... so this ASDA Van must have been flying into the flooded bit...
FFS boys and girls. I drive through floods several times a year in an ordinary car (river severn) 1) FIGURE OUT WHERE YOUR AIR INTAKE IS! 2) if it's low, disconnect it (usually somewhere near the air filter - at a high point but upstream of the air mass meter) 3) drive into the flood, create a bow wave and follow it - this creates a low point in the engine bay - do NOT bulldoze a wall of water infront of the vehicle - you should be moving at less than a walking pace 4) do NOT drive through fast moving water unless you are prepared to open doors and let water into the vehicle - (desperate measures to prevent floating) 5) alternatively - if you are clueless don't drive through floods That van could have made it if he had followed those rules. Did Trucker Tim check where his recovery vehicle sucked it's air in? Some trucks (even large artics) suck air in from behind the bumper... stupid! whereas others have the intake high up... that will always be what matters most!
You should have the second channel just follow Shaun around all day 😅
He needs his own show!!
Has me in tears every time he’s on

How on earth did someone hit that van while it was stationary?! It was hardly camouflaged, it's bright green FFS.
the air vents on Sprinter vans are actually in the hood.. as are most Mercedes intakes.. like those black bits you see on the hood are the intakes... so this ASDA Van must have been flying into the flooded bit...
