    Hi Tim,
    Love you videos.
Used to be a fridge driver myself.
    Just wanted to tell you.
You only had 2 pallets in.
The trailer had a large door in the ceiling which you can push forward and lower to minimize the area your fridge has to keep cold.
On warm day''s that can keeps your load nice and cool.

I’ll tell you a story about Sainsburys , Hams Hall Timothy! In the early 2000s I used to deliver there with a curtainsiders and the goods in was at the other end of where you went so the south end of the building.. back then we had to hand are keys in and wait in a ridiculously small drivers room with one toilet which at the time was out of order..
A driver needed to use the toilet and the goods in women at the desk wouldn’t let him in any other part of the building so he went outside, pulled his pants down and took a dump right outside the office!
I never actually seen him do it but it caused a big argument between the driver and the security they had onsite.. he was banned from all Sainsbury’s sites!!! Back then the drivers really were treated like shit and Sainsbury’s were always bad towards drivers and from my memory with the worst being East Kilbride near Glasgow!
The site looks the same apart from the ridiculous booking in system, I suppose you don’t have to pay a computer 😡😡. I’m glad I don’t have to drive anymore!

@@mikebarrett1004 can’t remember ever doing St Albans but we used to do a trailer change at Hoddesdon which is near St Albans. That was quite modern back then but I can’t ever remember what the conditions were like as I’d drop one trailer and pick another one up and head back to Avonmouth.

Thinking, a pallet of lettuce is 70 boxes of 10/12 pcs. They sell for 90p? So call it £650 retail for that pallet, how much has it just cost wholesale and to haul it. And loaders/unloaders etc madness 😮 what’s left? £20? Or -£300 per pallet lol

Good old Sainsbury’s, having 2 pallets delivered by an artic…………really green and efficient😂

    • @bertjesklotepino
      @bertjesklotepino 7 месяцев назад +6

Sir, i deliver 1 pallet, sometimes 20, sometimes 30 cbl11 crates on a simple wooden pallet. Distance: 250 kilometers just to get there.
If people gave a shizzle about green and efficient, all of the companies that do this kind of work would have already been out of business.
But, a human needs to eat.
And so they just increase the costs.
The customer pays the bill at the end.
And the producers dont care that much.
      And the truckers?
They are last in line in this case.
And they have to deal with new kinds of fuel, or going electric.
      Fuel, like LNG.
costs as much for 1 kilo of LNG as it costs a liter of Diesel in the Netherlands.
Both will take you the same distance, roughly.
Downside of LNG: Takes a heck of a lot of time when you are trying to fuel up at certain stations that are known for being very slow...... but if you have no choice, you have no choice.
And so: you have to wait for 15 minutes for the pump to cool down, and then you may stand like a sack of sand holding a button for another 15 minutes. And if all goes well, the tank will fill up.
But if the system decides something is wrong.........man o man o man.
You need to again wait another somany minutes to again try to fill it up.
      Diesel?
You just put the nozzle in the tank, squeeze the trigger, put the lock on, and have a coffee.
And 5 minutes later the tank is filled up to the rim.
And it gets you just as far as LNG.
There is plenty of it on this globe, just as much as there is water.
We wont ever run out of it. Those who claim we will are nuts.
Meanwhile we make people pay huge bills for warming their houses on natural gas.
And try to get people to transfer from burning natural gas to other ways of heating their homes.
But we also introduce trucks running on natural gas.
We tell the people who try to heat their homes that gas is bad for nature.
But it is good when it is used in trucks?????
      I dunno how that works.
It stinks and feels like a scam to me.
Sad to see people accept money and have no idea of the value of life.
If someone has seen a horrible crime where a guy chopped off another guy's head, all you have to do is offer a few thousand dollars to make em walk away.
If people are transmitting images of a live G job, where cities are bombed to smithereens, all you have to do is pay someone a few bucks and they will have their head move the correct way. Nod yes.
      And the sheep will follow.
Because who gives a damn if you loose your entire family?
And who gives a damn if you have lost your family, are recovering from your own injuries, and then get shelled to pieced by a tank?
      Nobody does.

The issue isnt sainsburys but the supplier this is into depot which is typically arranged by supplier unless sainsburys use one of our trucks to pick up stuff on the way "home" to depots so its the supplier that should be greener and more efficient... but its still a joke trip for 2 boards of lettuce, but then those depots serve a lot of stores and if people cant buy their green water.. they get mad

      i have not said that.
But there is just as much oil on this planet as there is water, roughly.
Do you think we human beings are ever going to drink up the entire water supply including the oceans?
      And what about Lithium, sir?
Do you think there is enough on this planet to change every vehicle to electric vehicles?
What about all the batteries that we have to build if we wanna store energy coming from windmills and solar panels?
      That also costs Lithium, right?
Do you think there is enough natural gas to keep supplying everyone with LNG?
DO you think it is cheap to transport it via ship from America to Europe?
Do you think Asia and Africa will give a damn about this while they are developing?
Why were we in the west allowed to develop using cheap fuels, and why are we now trying to switch everyone to solar panels and wind mills? Do you think Africa and Asia is able to develop using just windmills and solar panels and that kinda nonsense?
It is UTTER nonsense to think we as human beings will ever be able to drink all the water there is on this planet.
And it is just as much nonsense to think that we as human beings are able to use up all the oil there is in the ground.
Huge areas underneath the oceans that have yet to be exploited.
Last question: Why is China the only country able to chase away the rain when they need to have a dry day, like with the Olympics?
Or is it not the only country that can do stuff like that?
      Did Dubai indeed seed clouds?
IF this is possible, seeding clouds or chasing em away by spraying stuff in the air.........
Might that be an explanation why there is drought in certain places that normally do not experience drought, at least not for this long periods>?
Might it be an explanation why there are these crazy weather events like we saw in Dubai and Germany not too long ago, and other places on this globe?????
      Nah, of course not.
Why would anyone wanna manipulate the weather, ey?
But ehm, 30 years ago Geo engineers already spoke about it, and the rich already said that the next major war on this planet will be about water.
      Seems they will be right.
Especially if you are able to manipulate it that way.
But i know what you are thinking: Tinhat.
So, don't look up and accept everything you are told.

Stuff that, I just unloaded, put them inside the bay and demanded my paperwork was signed.

Just shows how much supermarkets are making out of farmers. Can afford to pay a big V8 wagon for 2 pallets, whilst farmers are probably make 10p a lettuce. 🇬🇧🚜

Good work Tim. She looks good with a fridge. Would look even better with a colour matched kings!!! 😏😏
As an ex fridge driver just wanted to give you a little tip. Do a two stage hitch makes life a little easier. So Reverse under the trailer stop juat be fore your fifth wheel hits the pin, stop and plug your suzies in. Then reverse all the way and hitch proper. Doing that gives you more room and your not squeezing between the back of your cab and the fridge unit.

Is the idea with the keys so the driver can't drive away while being loaded/unloaded?

Those little shunters are ridiculous. I used to sit and watch one working at the Boots site in Nottingham and they just made it look easy. Once I got my licence I realised that actually it isn’t 😅

I've had the misfortune to pick loads up from distribution centres. And I can tell you they don't rush, and you can't relax. You're forever looking through your mirrors to see if there is any movement on the loading bay. Am I right? or, am I right. 🚛🚛🚛
