@@SegaSonicSaturn So Sonic 3D Blast for PC and Saturn had their layouts ripped at the Models Resource. Any plans to use those layouts to finish recreating this game faster?
Man this looks so cool. Not only do we get to play the game with the fixed camera, but also with a free moving one. I'm super excited to see where this goes. I tip my hat to you.
My jaw *dropped* when I saw the camera switched to the side of Sonic's ground position for the 1st time _(i.e., a non-isometric/typical 3D view)._ Back as a 5-year-old playing Sonic Mega Collection, I'd struggle with 3D Blast practically all the time--with later stages such as Volcano Valley being an elusive, unreachable goal. Because of that, the game was a pretty mixed bag for me: something I'd only experiment with playing after trekking through Sonic 2 & 3's stages multiple times. And now, once this project is completed (or a build is finally released), it could become one of my favorite video games. Great work--please keep it up!
This looks AMAZING! I was really blown away when you toggled off the isometric view to reveal gameplay in a more standard 3d view. 3d Blast is a game I always wanted to see get the widescreen treatment, but I never expected a full blown remake like this! I really hope to see this project continue cause this looks incredible.
Man, I genuinely love seeing all the passion you guys have been putting on this, Cannot wait to see more! You all deserve the world for the effort you put in this project!
Sonic 3D is something of a nostalgic comfort to me. I was never any good at it, but it never fails to make me smile. Your remake looks incredible! A massive improvement on the original. So looking forward to seeing this develop.
Just learned about this project from someone sharing it in a Discord server, and needless to say, I'm extremely impressed by this. It really sucks that you're the only one in the team who's really working on it and I really want it to take off. Heck, I would be willing to join the team but I don't think there's much I can really offer at the moment.
The definitive! The way that this expands is seamless! All the added details and motion goes as if they were always there, or if they were meant to be! Really good job! c:
@@SegaSonicSaturn No Problem! I'm not a talented person but that doesn't stop me from appreciating generally awesome projects. I do have a question though, well 2. First: Do you plan to port it to Android when it is done and perhaps do an update where you can see the game from a behind camera angle. As in, Adventure Style Camera. Would probably improve the game alot in terms of playability. Either way, excited as hell to play this.
God, the music in the Sega Saturn version of this game has such an obscene amount of nostalgia for me. I haven't tried to boot up my Saturn in decades. Very keen to see how this project goes!
For the special stages, maybe Tails sends you to the Genesis one, Knuckles sends you to the Saturn one and Amy sends you to the Windows one? Just a thought.
As a fan of Sonic who was introduced to the series through renting this game at Blockbuster, this is a dream being realized. As much as this game was experimental and odd for a Sonic game, I’ve always loved the aesthetic and I think the OG Genesis OST is one of the best in the entire franchise. I am an unrepentant fan of this game so seeing this realized is genuinely incredibly cool, thank you, the overall vibe is immaculate and accurate to the era, only those with passion who really “get” it could make something like this. Absolutely fantastic, legitimately hyped.
This looks amazing. I would recommend to implement a knuckles radar system that detects an uncollected flicky or badnik to prevent the player from getting frustrated on finding the last badnik or flicky in a stage in both Isometric 3D and 3D mode. Just have the number of Flickys be in boxes on the bottom of the screen in a nest Little menu to help out players who are using the behind the shoulder camera as you have less visibility to see the level around you.
This looks amazing! Also, one thing I'd love to see just for fun in the final build is that third person mode. Seeing 3d blast at another angle, looks fucking incredible.
This looks Amazing! I do see a few issues that need to be addressed, the first being absence of slope darkening and how they all blend together, which can mess with depth perception pretty heavily, another is how in 3D view the Trees can block the player during gameplay, my suggestion is likely to have a dithering fade when the camera is blocked to help with player view, ik this is wip but I did want to mention it, really great work though! Love the model work and how you can swap music options, if I want to suggest another thing it’s putting more personality and snappiness into Sonic’s animations as that was a pretty lacking thing for his locomotion especially compared to his 2D counterparts at the time, alongside the game’s lighting generally lacking contrast for general colors to make things feel a bit more strong, unless you guys are aiming for a 1:1 which is understandable
This is remarkable. I kept having to remind myself (in the final section) that anything was different. @@SegaSonicSaturn I'm very impressed! My only real critique, and admittedly I didn't get too far through the video (was sidetracked by errands), was that the title screen logo looks... very, very small. I believe it's the same video format that Enemy Zero uses.
Sonic 3D Blast was my first ever Sonic game. And seeing this project made me emotional and nostalgic at the same time. Looking forward to the next update.
Amazing work being done here! By the way, will the QoL updates from the Director’s Cut version be included later down the line? It always bugged me that there’s two separate improved versions of 3D Blast, and this project looks like it has the potential to outdo them both.

I’m fully aware it’s still under development when I say this: it’s a bit janky looking. BUT! Not in a bad way at ALL! It looks like the original renders used before they were compressed into tiles and sprites! 90’s CGI has a lot of jank, for sure. But I personally like that, as it is incredibly amazing some of the techniques used to work around limitations! Take Reboot for an example. I've been a fan of the original game for some time now, and I'm so happy to see it get some much needed love. Who knows, maybe the could even end up being the definitive way to play the game!
If I recall correctly, the Dreamcast development kit had this higher resolution 60 FPS variant of the intro, so that is technically faithful; it's just using a higher quality version than the actual game, but it's still official.
This is so cool! I cant wait to play this when its finished! I love the idea of Sonic 3D Blast being an actual 3D game! This looks so amazing. Really hope the full game makes it to completion. Very impressive work. Love the option to toggle the soundtracks. Also I like the feature that you can no longer lose Flickies you have freed. It improves one of the major frustrations with the original game (having to chase after the darn things if you lose one). An option to unlock/play as Tails and Knuckles would be terrific as a bonus feature. Keep up the great work!
maybe the best 3d blast remake we are gonna get! love the music toggle and the camera toggle, what about a texture swap so we have both genesis and saturn enviorments, i mean saturn is best looking but stages like rusty ruin and volcano vally has fog textures and some may want to swap to genesis to remove fog
There's something surreal about seeing that first loop be navigated without a boost pad. But DANG! The glow up since the last preview is gorgeous.

Seeing this game in non-isometric 3D is so surreal.

Sonic 3d blast but in a sonic adventure style would be so good
Now this is what they should've done with the Saturn hardware.
This looks very neat!

maybe the best 3d blast remake we are gonna get! love the music toggle and the camera toggle, what about a texture swap so we have both genesis and saturn enviorments, i mean saturn is best looking but stages like rusty ruin and volcano vally has fog textures and some may want to swap to genesis to remove fog
Good idea thankyou so much 😄, we glad you like it!✨🪐
