  • Here is a puzzle with a difference! I built the Clementoni 500 piece Colour Me Therapy Puzzle…and then I coloured it in, with a little help from my kids 😃
I was lucky enough to snag a brand new copy of this puzzle from a charity shop and I couldn’t find the same puzzle on Amazon, but Clementoni have others on Amazon, that are also 3D! Check them out here (affiliate link):

I love coloring books, but I am not sure about coloring a puzzle even though this looks amazing. I like that the coloring books are portable. I am trying some larger puzzles right now- 1500s and 2000s. I still think I want to do one of the giant puzzles. I just need to figure out how I want to do that and keep my apartment from being overwhelmed. I wish you blessings for moving. That’s always stressful. Will you still be in Scotland? Thank you for your bright spirit. Your personality is endorphins for the soul. I am grateful you take time out of your busyness to make videos to share.

Yes, I agree. It’s nice to curl up with a colouring book on your lap (which you can’t really do with a puzzle!) 😆 it was fun though, and I’m pleased with how it turned out. That’s great you’re doing some bigger puzzles - you could maybe stair step up to the bigger ones from there, perhaps tackle a 3000 piece next - or maybe even try a larger one that is divided into 2000 piece sections? Thank you for the blessings, it is very stressful moving - so much to think about; and I was halfway through a 6k puzzle when I found out it was happening 😆 I will still be in Scotland - not too far from where I am now. Thank you so much for watching and for your kindness 😍

Wow! What an incredible thrift find, brand new in the box! When I saw you pull out the pieces and look at all the black and white lines on the puzzle, I thought no way! I don’t think I’d have the courage to put that together. But, I will say, I absolutely love the coloured image. It makes it so vibrant and the final product came out so lovely! Congrats on getting this one done! 🌺🌺🌺

I know, it was so lucky! The day I got this was just one of those lucky days where I kept finding gems in all the charity shops 😃. Yes, the black and white was a bit daunting to tackle at first, but you soon notice patterns and differences that you can use to build it. Now I just have to try and do it coloured in! I’m not sure if that will be easier or harder! 😆

I have a lot to comment this time, Vicky! And please forgive me for any typos. But in no particular order:
I have actually done 2 color-me puzzles; first, a 100-piece and then a 500-pc, both mandala images. To my surprise, the 100-pc was WAY HARDER than the 500 piece. I decided to keep the 500 one because as a now colorful puzzle, it would be more challenging.
The good thing is that these puzzles are a one- time color in.
Colored puzzles are obviously easier than those that haven't been colored in yet.
I have had the same experience of taking much longer in coloring these puzzles than the actual build(except that 100-pc). But you get a gorgeous new puzzle image in the end. I have a picture of the before and after in my files, as I don't keep all my puzzles.
Yes, the image surface can not be a linen finish due to coloring quality-media needed.
I tested the first one, the 100-pc with one quarter of the puzzle with crayons, the other with good quality colored pencils, and the other with markers. The last quarter would be the ones that were best for the puzzle, and that happened to be for the markers. But with this experience, I decided to get double-sided/same color markers, with thick chisel-pointed and fine point on the othrr end for my 500-pc, and the results had less bumpy "untherapeutic" coloring than rhe 100-pc one!
I approached my first puzzle by coloring in with the same color throughout the puzzle so I wouldn't run out of colors in the end. But yours looks, like you said, psychodelic!
I like Fraya's approach; it gives a good touch to your puzzles. Your son had very good answers to your questions.!
You were brave in picking up a Clementoni; they generally crumble.. But I agree that the markers may have contributed to holding together better.
Thank you for trying......with a successful outcome!! Maybe other puzzles you mare familiar with would not work, but you can hold the corners on camera so viewers see it is not possible for pickup. Also....and obviously, you will not pick up your giant puzzles up, but you can hold a corner up.....?!
I am sorry you have to go through moving again; now that I know that, I will patiently wait for your next.
I would love to see Part 2 of this puzzle being built as a now colored puzzle, but on RUclips because I never go to your mentioned social media. .can you?
I am also happy that your next background will hold more puzzles!
PS I am, to my surprise due to my very very busy lifestyle, am half way through my first WASGIJ?. I am taking notes along the way to share later with you, as you did express your interest in knowing how it went.

Hiya! Since doing this one, I’ve found a few more different ‘Colour me’ puzzle designs, a few mandalas among them. They really are stunning, and the end result is beautiful - I even saw some 3D ones! I have to say I really like your idea of doing it with same colour double sided pens, with a fine tip for the grooves. That would make much more sense, and it wasn’t something that I thought of. I just bought some Sharpies! I definitely don’t think crayon would have worked well on these pieces, they are much too shiny and smooth!
I really like Freya’s approach as well. I definitely think that you could just have a puzzle like that sitting out, and work on it sporadically, just at your own leisure - it just seems like a puzzle that lends itself to that approach. That is, of course, as long as there isn’t some pesky feline about that would destroy it first! 😆
I was a little nervous myself about picking up a Clementoni to be honest, most of mine have been crumbly, but, it just felt a bit more solid after I’d coloured it so I just went for it. It wasn’t as solid as a Jumbo or the Blue Kazoo, but it worked so that’s a success in my book 😍
I am very happy to do another video on the building of this puzzle now it’s been coloured. A couple of people have mentioned that so I’ll happily do it, it will be a nice quick one.
I’m so glad you are enjoying your Wasgij? I can’t wait to hear how it went.
On the subject of Wasgij? Someone in the Facebook group got back to me and told me that aside from the Xmas Wasgij? nos 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 there are three Originals that have been released as two 1000 piece puzzles (box image included) they are 1 - Sunday Drivers, 21 - Football Fever and 27 - The 20th Party Parade. Also Mystery 1 - Wasgij Express, and Destiny 1 - Best Days of our lives. I think there are a handful of releases where you get 3 x 1000 piece box image puzzles - these seem to be collectors editions. I don’t know where you get hold of those, I’ve never seen them, but apparently they exist. There are also 4 x specials that are 2 x 1k pieces - 1 x Coronation Street one, 1 x Carry On Capers and 2 x Only Fools and Horses ones - again, I don’t know how easy these are to get hold of. I hope that helps!
Thanks for watching as always! 😊

@@Vickymakesandbuilds OMG! What wonderful WASGIJ? information, thank you so much!!
And I am glad that the marker info may help you...at least in the future if you plan to get a mandala one! I also recommend brush-tip markers...much easier to get in the grooves, but I don't know how costly they are in Scotland.
The crayons test was just a test...nothing more-
I've seen this approach of leaving a color-me drawing in a nursing home with a pocket full of colored pencils on the walls of a nursing home!
Sorry for mispelling your daughter's name in my last message: FREYA

I checked out all your WASGIJ info, unfortunately found only 3 I could purchase. One costs 10X a regular jigsaw, and the other two are not of my interest. I'm happily keeping the one building because I love animals. I will still hold on to your list.

I completely understand what he meant. I colored a puzzle and it was quite difficult because it is bumpy. I stopped coloring mine because I found myself coloring the pieces one at a time. I love how bright and colorful it is

    • @Vickymakesandbuilds
      @Vickymakesandbuilds  2 года назад +1

Yes, I found that I was doing that too, colouring one at a time I mean. Sometimes I would mistake the join in a puzzle piece for a line and then colour within that line, so it occasionally got a bit confusing too 😆 I did love the end result though - I’m pleased with how colourful and bright it turned out. Thanks so much for watching! 😍

One would think, me being a pattern-oriented puzzler, that I would love such a puzzle. But I do not. To me, it is just too gimmicky. To me, a puzzle should be puzzle pieces, to put together, to make an image. That is therapy enough. That said, if this puzzle were released as an already colored puzzle, especially how you colored it, then I could appreciate it. So I think you will have great fun doing this puzzle again now when it is colored in. It might be worth a short youtube video on its own also, if you feel for it.

    • @Vickymakesandbuilds
      @Vickymakesandbuilds  2 года назад +1

Hiya, I know exactly what you mean. The puzzle alone was therapy enough for me. Puzzles have always been like that for me. I will definitely redo the puzzle now it’s coloured. You aren’t the first to float the idea of a second, shorter RUclips video on that - I might just do that. 😊 Thanks for your comment and for watching 😃
