Many predators start eating once their prey is simply incapacitated, especially if they're fighting for food with a pack or other animals because they try to get their fill while they still can. Felines are really the only mammals who have mastered the art of killing swiftly by cutting off oxygen to the brain.

As a rock climber living in Colorado, I had the opportunity to go climbing in Glacier Park, so of course, I said yes. We were on Going-To-The-Sun mountain about 4 or 5 pitches up this pretty tough route. When right below us, we hear at first what we thought was a person yelling, then we hear the unmistakable growls and roar of a Grizzly and realize after looking down this bear had chased a moose straight to the base of the rock face we were on, and they had a pretty lengthy battle until they bear won and just started eating there. I've never had more motivation to complete a climb before in my life. And the hike out was the most terrifying 3 miles I've ever walked hahaha
