Regularly watch the channel but somehow missed this episode. I bought one of these about 9months ago - huge discount at one of the big jewelry chains who were liquidating their Seikos. I love it because it is restrained, I wanted a diver but not a "look at me I'm wearing a humungous diving watch" type watch. Its been absolutely fantastic so far. Great vids - keep up the good work.
Enjoyable review. Just ordered the last one from Shopping in Japan. Not an inexpensive watch but I've always wanted a high quality Made in Japan Seiko dive watch, so my wish has been made real. Like you I just love the brand. In fact I remember my Dad had a Seiko watch when I was a kid (about 50 years ago!), I think it was an early quartz watch based on my blurry memory of it after all these years. I'm looking forward to it's arrival.
Your cinematography is simply outstanding. I would very much appreciate more videos in this particular style. Keep up the brilliant work. Greetings from Austria!
Just received the 053 blue dial variant yesterday. Outstanding watch. I had a turtle and flipped it, just not for me. This is the Seiko diver I've been waiting for. I put it on a strapcode bracelet. They make them to fit these models now. Looks wonderful! The price is very reasonable right now as well. Great video. Cheers, Matthew
Thank you Matthew, Congrats, the blue is so on point, they got that hue so right IMO. Enjoy it and I bet it looks killer on that bracelet. Best regards, TGV
What a killer video. The music, the texture of the video and the contents of the video other than the review, just add up to such an amazing experience. Totally enjoyed it!
What a GREAT production. This has been one of the best reviews. It's rising up the bar. I loved the music, the two and even three camera story telling you got going on. For the viewer it is pleasing to see the mix of landscape, architecture, and the rugged ships AND the watch. Great, great video.
Kudos for an honest review. One hesitation I had with the partnership with the WatchBox was a potential lack of objectivity; having a robust and varied list of negatives asserts your objectivity and lets us know your integrity is intact. Also - thanks for the ‘drilled lug’ shout-out. People (for some reason) hate drilled lugs... people who wear watches and change straps LOVE drilled lugs.
I got the SBDC055 and I love it. Used it in the pool, river, lake and in hot water pools on my vacation. Great watch that is keeping +7 since I got it. Great video as always.
I’ve had this tank of a watch for a little over a year now. Worn almost everyday. The huge hour hand grows on you but I do admit that the entire watch is quite chunky for my smaller wrist. But I’m in love! And Diashield is as legit as it gets. Zero regrets and I’m never letting it go. Great review and I appreciate your honest views on it. More power to you!

Good production all round- was looking forward to this once since the day in the life vid, love that we can jump from a Patek to a Seiko, this partnership is great.
I went for the SBDC055. One of those may have the flair you’re after. Thanks for the great video. There’s something really nice about sharing appreciation for Seiko watches that I thoroughly enjoy. I just revisited this video. The composition is a bit weird. You are very positive and complimentary towards the watch until right at the end, where you say you don't really like it.
Hi! Great review! I have the SBDC065 aka Great Blue Hole (at 6:25) and I really love that watch. The blue dial is gorgeous in different lights. Have a nice summer guys!
Just got this as my first seiko. I love it. It wears smaller than you would think. I have a 6.5 inch wrist and it looks great. With a nato even better. Bought new at an ad for 795.00. Ps went in looking for the spb143 but i thought this looked better in real life.
Another great review TGV. After initially running at -2s a day, mine has now settled in at -0.1s a day, so it's as accurate as my F91W and GW5610. The lume is bright and long lasting, even better than my SKX. Surprisingly, it wears smaller than my SKX as it 'appears' to have a lower profile. I didn't like the bracelet at first, but it has grown on me and now I love it. For daily use, I wear it on a Seiko silicon strap. This one is a keeper
I have one, bought it new when I first heard about and have been absolutely in love with it ever since. I'm considering getting it PVD coated in all black to put the "Me" into that watch. I have only one gripe about the watch: Every time I look in my watchbox to see what I want to wear that day, it always wins and the other watches are getting upset.
Excellent background TGV, interesting narrative. Nicely done Sir. A nice timepiece and reliable movement. I am still enjoying my Sun065. All the best Sir. 🍷
Great video TGV, I'm a longtime subscriber and follower of your channel and it's really cool to see you continuing to make great watch videos in my very hometown of South Philly, you couldn't have picked a better location to review a Seiko diver then at the Philadelphia Navy yard, so much history there too, well done sir, welcome and best regards from a fellow watch lover👌⌚
Bravo on the honesty. Great timing for me, as I was also on the fence and almost bought a few times. Highly recommend Armida A12. The A12 is very close to original and a beautiful high quality watch. So much so, I had to buy 2 - one black dial and one blue.
@@petershallis2294 I had a chance to get one for $2500 and had the money at the time, but, I said to myself, "I'm not about to spend that kind of money on a Seiko!". Good review, nice watch. Just picked up an Orient Triton with the saturation diver movement, fantastic value for money for the spec. That Seiko is stylish.

Erik Satie - YES! I see you with the Dutch angle towards the end, TGV. ;) Really wish I could get this piece but I would love to see another reissue at the original 37mm case size. Well done, Tristano!
Nice review, just one minor complaint: At 6:50 you are showing quick-set with the hour hand between 10 and 11, which in the worst case can damage the movement when the date change gear teeth are engaged.
I had an early turtle I bought in Singapore in the late '70s, but lost it, so on seeing an as-new blue SRP053 (black rubber strap) on sale in a secondhand shop for ¥38,000 (about USD$330) decided to try it. It is a 2017, @ ¥110,000 incl. tax on the original receipt that came with it. I don't snorkel any more but still swim, and it seems quite natural on my wrist (180cm) while swimming. It is a very nice-looking watch. Will look for a blue rubber strap for it. Best wishes from Japan.
This, with the default rubber strap has been my go to watch for my street runs for over a year now. Ridiculously easy and quick to twist the bezel and start timing my run plus it's extremely legible with my arm bobbing around. With an LCD watch or chronograph I'd be fumbling with buttons or squinting my old eyes at the counter. After I'm done it heads straight into the shower with me and gets great compliments at dinner gatherings thereafter.
I must admit I like that! It does need a signed crown though. I'm sure it could be done, maybe an aftermarket mod? Very nice show, l love seeing the Naval Shipyards! I like the blue and green dial versions too. Best as always Stuart
As an international audience, I like the new style of filming as I get additional content out of a single video (now I need to add the naval yard to my must-see whenever I get a chance to go to the US). One question: does the bracelet wear large for your wrist? I have a similar size wrist and I’m interested to get one with the bracelet but I’m concerned about the lug to lug and whether if wearing it on the bracelet makes it even larger.
Why is everyone so obsessed with a signed crown? You don’t need that extra advertising. It’s just another place for gunk to collect. I just don’t get the obsession with wanting a signed crown
There are obvious changes since you married WatchBox. This video shows that quite well. There are noticeable improvements in the scripting and you are staying more on point, and with less repetition. All good. One thing I find concerning is the lack of spontaneity which is definitely one of your strong points. I hope, with experience, you can come to a happy medium in this. Maybe not quite as tightly scripted, to allow your very pleasant and natural self show through better. My biggest concern about this partnership was would you be allowed to voice your true opinions, which I, and others, highly value. It’s seems you can. I really enjoyed this review, and look forward to this new format improving as you and WatchBox get more comfortable with your union!👍
Well, another great vid, as usual. I really like the whole "on location" vibe with the naval yards and everything. Would like to see more of that in the future. The Seiko itself looks very nice, but being a huge Seiko fan myself, I have to agree, at least on the surface, that there seems to be more overall inspired design in watches like the Samurai, which aren't quite as expensive. Thanks and take care, man. Cheers.
Love Seiko Dive watches. I have a 31 year old Seiko 7002 - no service - runs like a champ! Also have a SRP777 - aka 'The Turtle' - which gains slightly less than 4 seconds a day after! Quality timepieces for the money.
Great review and video again, thanks! I have an SPB071, the PADI version of the SPB051 and i absolutely love it. Also i agree with you too on the bracelet thoughts, although i wear the watch on it. :)
Another great vid tgv. Can you talk a little bit about the camera you use ? Your vids are nice and clear and it would be nice to see your setup and get your input thanks
I have a 6.5+ inch wrist, and after owning a 44.5mm diver I've concluded I'll never buy a watch that big again. Mostly due to the 52mm lug to lug, but also due to the diametre. Maybe this one being slightly smaller, will just about fit properly. A NATO strap is a great way to make a slightly too large watch wear okay.
Having it now for two weeks I have really learned to love this watch, and the detail does grab you as you get more familiar with it.The video though pitches the review against the high pricing spec which is too high in my opinion... I purchased mine on rubbber strap, new, for 550 usd. Great quality video all the same 👍
Very good video and thanks for the pros and cons. You are totally right, the watch needs more individuality perhaps for this price range but on the other side as you described it is a „tank“ quality.
Great video once again and loving the way its going. One thing that bugs me though is the camera operator cant stand still or hold a camera still...............
Great informative video. Seiko, Orient, Casio, my own personal holy trinity! 😃. Plus I have a trio of watches of each brand. As De La Soul sang, 3 is indeed the magic number! Thanks for the video and good to see you are putting watchbox's watches to good use! 👍
Haha, sorry it took so long Jim, But I agree, deffo more needed, I would love to review several every month, sadly it just takes so long to produce. Thank you :D Best regards, TGV
Just bought my first SKX007 on Ebay. It's a beautiful mod. The seller wrote: "Seiko SKX007 SAND BLASTED ceramic bezel sapphire crystal and Hands Mod. Condition is Pre-owned. I completely sand blasted my skx007 to give it a more “tactical” and “toolish” appearance. Trusty 7s26 movement still inside The modifications I have done are 1.media blasted case, bezel, stem, and stock Seiko jubilee bracelet 2. Ceramic bezel insert 3. DLW double domed sapphire crystal with blue AR COATING 4. Hands are from one.second.closer. They are final fantasy hour and minute hands and the seconds hands is a Rolex Milgaus homage seconds hands CONS: I did wear this watch on occasion so the sand blast finish does show slight desk diving wear. The bezel is bit more stiff after the sandblasting but can be fixed with a new gasket and silicone grease. It has less play than before which some might consider a positive. The dial was bought off of eBay and HOUR #2 is starting to patina and there is a scratch in the dial.(If you don’t like the dial or the hands you can always just swap out the pieces for a new skx007 dial/hands :>) All in all it’s a great collectors piece and a true one of a kind piece that stands out. I’m ready to go after my grail and that is why I’m selling this piece." Tristano, I replied to him the following: "Thank you. I will be working on Flathead Lake on Melita Island this summer for the Boy Scouts of America. Taking kids waterskiing. And being a lifeguard. This watch will be worn with enthusiastic gratitude and honor. I will tell anyone who asks, and probably many who don't about all the good work you put into it. The sand (bead?) blasting, the beautiful blue sapphire crystal, etc. Please feel free to email me the story of your work, and history with this watch at montanawatchguy@gmail.com"
TGV, an update, the seller and I are now in contact, and will be keeping in contact via email and text message so he can see the watch 'out in the wild' here in Montana. This is what I love about horology. The stories, mate. The stories. Here's to you, my friend. One second at a time. That's what I love about watches. You can literally SEE time. And time, apart from God's grace... is all we have, man. All the best from the Mountains of Montana. Cheers. ~Luke Aaron Venters, Esquire
Lovely video, beautiful shots and great editing. The only thing bothering me was the music, a tiny bit depressing for this kind of watch. This kind of music is more fitting for a high end dress Watch instead of a fun and sporty Seiko diving watch. Otherwise its perfect. Love the direction this channel is heading for!
Love this music, thank you for the suggestion however. I feel it reflected the once lively former Navel yard where ships now go to be demolished really well IMO Best regards, TGV

Best as always
Stuart
I grew up in philly so it was neat to see the old shipyard and the rittenhouse street sign. Thank you.
Didnt they leave the crown unsigned on purpose, just because thats what the original had.
Loving the sleek finish to the videos now after joining watchbox! Great review of a great peice, cheers!👍
Why is everyone so obsessed with a signed crown? You don’t need that extra advertising. It’s just another place for gunk to collect. I just don’t get the obsession with wanting a signed crown
Agree totally.
Nice review. Also, seriously clean haircut. I'm a Vet so I appreciate a good haircut. Top notch work. Makes me want to get a really nice Seiko.
Joseph Tyson unbelievable 31 years old 7002 runs like a champ is it true, what’s the daily accuracy of the watch?
Great review and video again, thanks! I have an SPB071, the PADI version of the SPB051 and i absolutely love it. Also i agree with you too on the bracelet thoughts, although i wear the watch on it. :)
This is one of my all time favourite case shapes. Wish it was a tad bit smaller. Just a bit would do.
Love the direction of the channel and love the collaboration. I wish nothing but success for both.
My 62MAS PADI is my all-time favorite Diver from SEIKO !
Better sound editing than previous Watchbox powered videos~ Cheers TGV!
The Watchbox editors deserve props. S/O to my unsung heroes!
I could not agree more!
The time and work they put in is insane.
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
Another great vid tgv. Can you talk a little bit about the camera you use ? Your vids are nice and clear and it would be nice to see your setup and get your input thanks
Wow! This video is so professionally done! You are one of my favourite vloggers, keep up the good work, mate!
Thank you :D
Very kind of you to say.
Best regards,
TGV
I have a 6.5+ inch wrist, and after owning a 44.5mm diver I've concluded I'll never buy a watch that big again. Mostly due to the 52mm lug to lug, but also due to the diametre. Maybe this one being slightly smaller, will just about fit properly. A NATO strap is a great way to make a slightly too large watch wear okay.
Very nice review👍and I like the music. And yes the limited Mas is much cooler but also much more expensive.
Been loving the videos for a few years now, would love to meet you when I'm in New York.
Production has gone through the roof. The review was also well narrated TGV!
Excellent review. The production and music made for a great experience.
Having it now for two weeks I have really learned to love this watch, and the detail does grab you as you get more familiar with it.The video though pitches the review against the high pricing spec which is too high in my opinion... I purchased mine on rubbber strap, new, for 550 usd. Great quality video all the same 👍
You make me miss Philly. Thanks for the shots around the city.
i agree, grew up in the NE, miss the city. must make it back there soon
That intro song is one of my absolute favorites by Erik Satie. Excellent choice!
What's it called?
@@Icky1911Films Its called Gymnopedies No.1!
Like the outside review style, nice change. Can you review the new Tissot Gentleman t-gold 2019. Looks a beautiful piece. Keep it up
Very good video and thanks for the pros and cons. You are totally right, the watch needs more individuality perhaps for this price range but on the other side as you described it is a „tank“ quality.
Love the vibe of this video!
Great review! Seiko is a legend
Great video once again and loving the way its going. One thing that bugs me though is the camera operator cant stand still or hold a camera still...............
Maybe the camera operator is a kangaroo...
Great informative video. Seiko, Orient, Casio, my own personal holy trinity! 😃. Plus I have a trio of watches of each brand. As De La Soul sang, 3 is indeed the magic number! Thanks for the video and good to see you are putting watchbox's watches to good use! 👍
Very good review! 👍
I'm wearing the Golden Tuna at 2:10! Love it so much.
Haha, sorry it took so long Jim,
But I agree, deffo more needed, I would love to review several every month, sadly it just takes so long to produce.
Thank you :D
Best regards,
TGV
Golden tuna strap tips? Thanks Jim!
One of the finest of your video, sir. You review it in real life, so please to see.
Great video TGV as always. ⌚️⏱
TGV , Please do a review of the Seiko SBDC061 or the Marine Master 200😍👌
Own one and love it, a tank indeed, robust, accurate and a pleasure (at least for me) to wear 👍
Just bought my first SKX007 on Ebay. It's a beautiful mod. The seller wrote:
"Seiko SKX007 SAND BLASTED ceramic bezel sapphire crystal and Hands Mod. Condition is Pre-owned.
I completely sand blasted my skx007 to give it a more “tactical” and “toolish” appearance. Trusty 7s26 movement still inside
The modifications I have done are
1.media blasted case, bezel, stem, and stock Seiko jubilee bracelet
2. Ceramic bezel insert
3. DLW double domed sapphire crystal with blue AR COATING
4. Hands are from one.second.closer. They are final fantasy hour and minute hands and the seconds hands is a Rolex Milgaus homage seconds hands
CONS: I did wear this watch on occasion so the sand blast finish does show slight desk diving wear.
The bezel is bit more stiff after the sandblasting but can be fixed with a new gasket and silicone grease. It has less play than before which some might consider a positive.
The dial was bought off of eBay and HOUR #2 is starting to patina and there is a scratch in the dial.(If you don’t like the dial or the hands you can always just swap out the pieces for a new skx007 dial/hands :>)
All in all it’s a great collectors piece and a true one of a kind piece that stands out. I’m ready to go after my grail and that is why I’m selling this piece."
Tristano, I replied to him the following:
"Thank you.
Cheers.

I love my sbdc/spb053, this was a great review. Love the filmography
I always liked the outdoor vids. It’s like a watch review field trip. I was half expecting to see Ernest.
I feel it reflected the once lively former Navel yard where ships now go to be demolished really well IMO
Best regards,
TGV
Marvelous review ! No doubts !
