- As variant 3 of the 4 KISS DYNASTY Tour Book versions has found its way to the Wax Night House, we thought we would 'officially' take a look at the differences. As life would have it, a new little 'something special' also finds its way to the Wax Night House in real time, as we welcome our newest four legged friend, Strutter Stubs. 💕🐾💕

Another great show! I also had the Dynasty Tour book. I was at the 79 show as well. It was actually at Municipal Auditorium. In June of 79, the roof collapsed at Kemper, so it wasn't open in September when the Dynasty Tour came through Kansas City. That Dynasty show was my first actual rock concert. My mom got us the tickets! Unfortunately my tour book was cut apart to hang some of the photos on my wall. There wasn't a lot of open space on my walls in those days, they were filled with KISS posters and pictures! Thanks for the great videos!

He's here for good. It took a day, but he and Pee Wee are inseparable now. He's a sweetheart. Trained, housebroken, the perfect little dog. Happy to have saved him. He's living the good life now. KISS fan for life LOL. 🤘. Have a great weekend!

2 albums that’s grown on me over the years are, Hotter Than Hell and Dynasty! Two of the more opposite on musical direction.

HaHaHa! That's awesome. I know I was repeating a previous talk, but it was so much fun to find a Version 2. I was trusting in the Lord, as the seller didn't have pictures (although they confirmed it opened to the Pinball ad), I was hesitant, but it played out pretty good. Have a great weekend. Just found another Dynasty Tour book version 2 at my local Flea market $10 I couldn’t believe. Never find vintage kiss merch in the wild anymore. I am sure you will give your new dog a great home. Kiss Army 🤟

The white space is the walls of the Asylum the Straight jackets . Dynasty was going to be called Asylum until the last minute. Could be the reason for white space 😥

Thanks, Ric! Great video! I was 12 when the Dynasty era hit and had been a fan for 3 or 4 years. The Dynasty era may have been colorful and over-the-top but it was the turning point when my parents finally let me buy and enjoy Kiss stuff. I think they just felt Kiss wasn’t “kid friendly” until this point. So, I’m really grateful for this era when I could buy albums, posters, etc. I had enjoyed Kiss for years at a buddy’s house but couldn’t have my own Kiss stuff until Dynasty. Great look at the tour books. I have one Dynasty tour book but need to track down a version with more photos. Great of you to take in the pup! Sad that people can be so cruel.
That's awesome! I love hearing this first hand. I can totally relate to parent's not thinking bands are 'kid friendly'. I had to be a Motley fan under wraps for a year or two, until I was able to get THEATRE. I think the "Home Sweet Home" ballad helped (I would have been 11 then). I love hearing that DYNASTY was your full chance to enjoy KISS. That kind of stuff makes me smile big time. Have a great weekend! 🤘

Heck yes!! Those are great tour books. One thing I have always loved about KISS tours, is I always felt the tour books improved as the years went on. Granted the CRAZY NIGHT, HITS, & REVENGE era's are incredibly cool, because they were so big, but the SONIC BOOM book is awesome! Great thoughts my friend. Have a chill weekend. Talk to you soon. 🤘
The 20/20 Magazine show in '79 was monumental upon its original airing. A rock and roll buddy and I watched it on an ancient 18" b/w TV with a 13-channel dial selector which clicked (loudly) every time you changed the station (no cable TV in those days, all analog). The Dynasty tour book variants were an unknown reality at the time. KISS were massive in '79 second only to Supertramp's Breakfast in America tour. Without the internet, cell phones and MTV, a KISS tour was preemptively only known through the newspaper and radio. In the USA, KISS released a short-lived TV commercial promoting the Dynasty tour. For all of the KISS concerts I saw through Kisstory (20) the Dynasty '79 show in Toronto was the only one I never bought a tour guide.

Someone watched over Strutter, making sure he met your wife that day. His life may or may not have been good up until that day, but that was the start of the rest of his life ❤ I have to rewatch the video, since I couldn’t focus on the tourbooks, I got so angry with the previous dog owner.

I have a question for you.
Do you think that all the magic of kiss 77/78. The solo album's, Phantom Of The Park, the outfits and the stage. My question is do you think kiss will ever have that magic again or do you think it's gone forever?
Thank you! I totally think there was some universal magic intervention there with Strutter showing up here. Pee Wee is acting like a puppy again. She obviously needed this far more than we did, and he's the perfect little dog. No issues, just chill and fun. Per your question regarding the magic, I think that era was the perfect storm of pop culture and music, and it just hit at that right moment. Kind of like the MTV era, VH & Motley Crue. That 84 / 85 era will never happen again, and I don't think the 77' / 78' magic will ever happen again. I think for the majority THAT era will always be KISS,. Which that's also the fun of being a fan, is any era can be "our" era, 70's, 80's or now. Great question, and fun to think about. Have a great Saturday night! 🤘

That's the First Kiss album I actually bought on my own when I was 5 years old and I like dirty living save your love and that's it cuz I've always been huge fans of Peter Criss and Ace Frehley. But I mostly hate everything about that error I can't stand it I mean that's when they were breaking apart the cracks were showing and I can understand why Peter jumped ship and I'm blown away that there's no good soundboard recordings of these shows at all and not every show Peter was high on cocaine speeding up the shows throwing drumsticks at people I mean Paul Stanley Gene Simmons will embellish anything to make them look good. I mean 2 years before it they were on top of the world and then you get to this point and they're at the lowest of low and kids are going to the shows with their parents I mean it just was not good and it didn't get any better with unmasked that was probably their cheesiest most commercial album to date with a few good songs on it like Torpedo Girl she's so European two sides of the coin and there was one more song on there I liked that's about it. Now I enjoyed the killer EP that came out and I was even a bigger fan of the Elder I love progressive rock Progressive Jazz so this was kisses version of it and it's sad that they didn't even go out on tour for that album it would have been so cool that was like my highlight of Eric Carr and what he and Ace Frehley did together was so fucking great and Gene was really sounding good on his face his voice was awesome Paul sounded really good with his voice his guitar playing was as good as it's been and they just sold out and didn't go with it man I mean you're proving everybody that you can play anything it doesn't matter I mean you're proving everybody that you can play anything it just because you're a rock band that wears makeup doesn't mean that you can't go into the studio and put together some insane music and people always throw them under the bus because they weren't quote-unquote great musicians but I would have told everybody to go f themselves just come see us on the Elder tour. And even preachers of the night was an incredible album but anything after that to me was just an absolute joke. Until the original members got back together in the mid-90s. What people don't seem to realize with Peter Criss is solo album it's just about what he loved when he was a kid that type of Bebop Motown and 50s genre music. And I'd have to say to you that the dynasty costumes were the most god-awful thing I've ever seen I really dig the stage that they used but not the costumes I can understand why Peter was just enthralled by that whole scene.
Great points. My two favorite solo albums out of the four are Gene and Peter. I love Peter's solo record, and am right there with you regarding The Elder. Such great album dives.
