John, hi, I was wondering if you are still running this stock and if not why ? I’m considering getting one and thought you may have some useful feedback. Thanks !
Any notes on how this compares to a stock like the magpul pro stock? I know the magpul is meant for a more tactical application, but given how heavy it is, I felt it would be good as a benchrest stock. Wanted to get your opinion. Thank you again!
I don't have any experience but you just need to make sure the stock ether has a nice wide 3" foreend or the ability to add a bag rider. It also needs to be able to handle heavier barrels and actions we use. My barrel weighs about 10lbs on its own as an example. Not all stock can keep from flexing under the recoil and weight.
Hey John. This is the stock I want to get. However when you showed the flex up by the z-rail I got nrevous😀 Does it affect anything. I'm doubtful or you would not have it. Thanks, Dean.
Hello. To be honest at this point if I had to do it over again I would buy their standard F class stock with the integrated metal rail. At the end of the day the Z-rail is great too and after all the National long range record was set on one but for I think I drive the standard stock better. Personal preference.
Hi John, Love your videos...I have a question I have the same stock and did not order the recoil pad. Can you recommend a decent after market recoil pad which screws right on the plate?
I don’t remember the hole pattern but I’m pretty sure there’s a Pachmeyer and a KickEze pad that both fit. I know if you call them they can tell you exactly which hold pattern you need or you can measure on your butt plate and then look it up on Amazon or kickeze website.
Thank you. Yes I’ve been testing the 190s on this setup as well as my wood stock rig. Both are identical actions, triggers and barrels. Only the stock are different.
I honestly find it hard to answer these kinds of questions because eyes are so very different person to person. In general I prefer it over my old NF Comps because it has far less chronic aberration and I find in general it’s more forgiving and clearer. That being said I know plenty of guys who prefer Nightforce. That’s the beauty of the world we shoot in now, so many great choices.
@@FClassJohn gotcha! I appreciate it man. I’ll eventually be starting up the Space Force shooting team in the future and just trying to get into f-class. Looking at the Deviant Elite and the stock you have here.
@@jetthreat5000 Just to keep things simple for me. Nothing wrong whatsoever with Shehane but I just wanted to go straight 284 is all. And yes, sometime in the first half of 2021 we should see Lapua 284 brass.
John, I imagine you are aware of the Jack Neary videos Erik Cortina has been showing. Jack is a hall of fame bench rest shooter and just looking at this stock mated to you action and rest. I’m not so sure if F Class is nothing more than bench rest shooting laying on the ground and not sitting in a chair at a bench!
Yes I've watched his videos and he's a wealth of information. I've been fortunate enough to sit with him and a few others over dinner. And yes F-Class is a lot like benchrest and yet so different. I've shot benchrest and it's very challenging for different reasons but equally fun.
@@FClassJohn when I decided to get back to reloading I thought with excellent reloads I could possibly take my Savage 110 Tactical in 6.5 Creedmoor and shoot F Class. Well as much as I have watched between you, Erik, and others I don’t know if I want the embarrassment of showing up at a F Class match with my low budget rig!
@@soonersteve3733 There's nothing to be embarrassed by. I had a 6br in a Savage Target for about 6-8 months while my first Defiance was being built and I cleaned plenty of targets and had great confidence in it. And seriously, plenty of low budget rigs have hit the line and schooled the best of them. The important thing is to come out, do your best, learn and have fun.
@@FClassJohn John, I have a full length sizing die, can I remove the decapping pin and just use it as a stand alone sizing die? Thank you! Beautiful setup man, I love the action too. I'm thinking about Defiance for my next build, my dream is to shoot F/TR 308
Kinda like that *extra long bipod* I mentioned, John!

What is this "Rad" you were talking about when it comes to a 300wsm ...is this the stock eric shoots?
A ‘RAD’ is a special butt pad made by a company called RAD. It’s a recoil assist device and using a piston to help control recoil.

Hey man, with your Deviant action do you mind telling me the specs in regards to the bolt? Additionally are you shooting the 284 Win or 284 shehane?
No ejector, cone bolt, .062 firing pin, .308 bolt face, .700 bolt diameter.

No, I’m sorry and unfortunately I don’t know where you can find a used one other than online long range forums like accurate shooter or snipers hide.
It sucks you had to take sandpaper to it. That takes off the clear anodizing.
