- Imagine going on Survivor, one of the best shows ever constructed on earth, winning the game, waiting several months and FINALLY watching the show on TV only to be disappointed. You barely got any screentime, other people are given credit for your moves and those incredible analogies you made that would make even the Survivor 44 cast envious…just vanished…It’s a hypothetical dream sure but for the top 5 contestants on this list their Survivor edits devolved into nightmare territory.

Honestly Natalie’s edit is even worse when you realize that Mick is given consistent content. Despite him not winning and being boring

Even as a Gabler truther, I have to agree that his edit was very well hidden. I only saw his win coming at the Sami boot, which was when I simultaneously realized that Jesse would be the fire-making boot (Jeff mentioning in most challenges that Jesse wasn't good at challenges), as before that I was all in on a Jesse win.

I fully blame the producers for a lot of these bad edits, like ok maybe Natalie and Erika aren’t TV gold but it’s not like they did literally nothing for the first half of their seasons
When Heather(41) and Brett(19) both make final 4 and both WOULD have actually won the game had the winner not been at FTC in place of them there’s a noticeable problem that pushes past “boring personalities” to producers didn’t like them
Erika literally did nothing. I do believe Natalie was playing a social game.
The entire Erika and Heather alliance ended up being the single most impactful connection on Luvu and we spent way too much time on Naseer who took 10th and Deshawn who was a total goat the entire season
Saying she didn’t do anything when nobody on Luvu got a decent pre-merge edit is ridiculous.
There were clearly scenes and moments they could have featured that were deemed unimportant or uninteresting and got cut for the 84th twist of the season and Jeff begging people to apply
The heather one is crazy considering she is a shoo in to win over Xander and Deshawn plus she was a really kooky personality that they could have taken advantage of more in the edit
South Pacific being my first season REALLY messed with my idea of what the winners edit would be. So much so that I genuinely thought Leif could be the winner of One World for a bit there...I wasn't a smart kid...
Good to see you on the channel! Edge of Extinction was the first season I watched live (with weekly episodes being released) so lets just say my idea of a winner edit was also warped in my Survivor infancy ahah
I think production are really bad at hiding when they disagree with someone winning even in new survivor. Its clear they wanted different winners to Erika and Gabler but they ended up winning so they gave them a really bad edit.

Gabler should be higher in this list IMO. The editors went out of their way to constantly show what an awful player he was and why he didn't deserve to win, and a lot of people were (rightly) pissed off at the jury's vote because of this edit and assumed it was people like Carla being bitter towards Cassidy since that's what the edit told us. Also while Sandra's edit could definitely have been better IMHO she definitely doesn't rank in the top 5 worst winner edits. I think people like Jenna have a much better claim at that.
Gabler I think could arguably be number 3 but at least he got consistent screentime and had his opinions shown. But every winner on this list deserved more I feel.

Sophie got 1/3 of the confessionals of Cochran and I seriously dont think he wins at the end. Thats another worrying statistic.
Invisible only because 2 of these 5 winners were the deserving winner. Gabler earned it. And while there was nothing special about Sandra's Pearl Islands game. But she was sitting next to Lil who likely anyone would of beat at the end.

I really dislike the editing of season 43, and it really sours the season for me.
The Dwight and Jeanine votes are incredibly rushed.
Too much of the F12 was spent on that challenge, Gabler’s story was heartwarming yeah but we also have the entire knowledge is power scene and it’s just too clunky for my liking
Jeanine’s has a lot of time spent on flipping the game from a 7-4 minority meanwhile Cassidy is literally the only person who didn’t wind up voting for Jeanine so the drama felt very manufactured
The entire Cassidy or Ryan debate was literally told to us backwards, Cody and Jesse were going to target Cassidy IF James WASN’T on the jury.
I like Gabler enough but those rounds and episodes are just so dull and lifeless

To play devil's advocate; I think you should cut the producers/editors some slack. Yes, they have literal days of confessionals-per-contestant that they need to cut together to form a digestible narrative, and therefore bear the brunt of responsibility, but could it be that sometimes some of the winners are just boring and/or lucky? Gabler for example, I think the guy we were presented is the guy that he is, and that was a winning character (obviously) for his particular season. I personally don't feel that I'm missing something about his story that was left on the cutting room floor that would drastically change my perspective on him or his gameplay, and I feel like I was given enough to actually root for him. It was both surprising and satisfying for what I was presented.
Again, it is the producers job to tell a story to us, the viewers, and so they have to make literally millions of decisions per-season. There won't ever be a season where they don't make a controversial decision in the editing room. But it seems a bit of a stretch to say they have an agenda with burying some winners; I bet that sometimes they can be boring. Echoing Cochran, would you rather have vanilla (like Natalie White) or cookies n' cream ice cream (like Russell)?
Why do fans instantly cuck and cape towards massive corporations for not doing a good job that doesn't take much effort and then slap around anyone who calls them out for essentially not shutting up and being happy it's on?
Also maybe people like vanilla, but of course to your type Objectively Superiority always trumps even a hint of subjectivity.

I think I am the only person who could tell Sophie was going to win. It was obvious to me. She was the level head among the outrageous and irrational men in her alliance.
I don’t think Gabler was playing a good game. I think the fact that many jurors have outed other jurors as being bitter tells everything about Gabler’s win.
